  1. did you hear something I didn't? They're still just "nearing a deal" aren't they? I'm assuming ahead of time! Haha! My turn to ask you if you know something we don't. :D

I think Greenberg was discussed once before. I believe PA is the accurate measure rather than AB.
  3. I think the Chargers were still pretty hot going into the playoffs as well.
  4. Yes, he's a tough kid, but I've been watching him since he was a Freshman All-American here at Ole Miss, and that wasn't 100% Deuce at there, or even 75% Deuce. He was definitely hurt. Not saying that's why they relied on the pass so much, but something was definitely wrong with him, and it really hurt us because he couldn't stop the pass-rush like normal. His efforts to block your DE's were just pitiful. You know the team better than I would, but they were still using Deuce most of the game. And he was blocking for Brees most of the time, which I would imagine would be tougher on the knees than his typical running style of plowing straight up the middle. He also had 3 catches. Not trying to dissuade your opinion, but to me it just seemed like they wanted to go to the air since they were having some success with it early.
  5. I agree with your sentiments in regards to Urlacher. But, I think you're off a bit with the rest of the team. Lovie doesn't stand for any lackadaisical play out on the field. I was reading or listening somewhere where they talked about some form of demerits given out in practice and in actual games whenever someone is caught not hustling full out on a play. I don't remember what the demerits count towards (laps maybe?), but most of the players pride themselves on trying to not earn any of these things. And from what I heard, it sounds like it's a very tough grading system. Urlacher probably earned a few demerits even in that game, but definitely not on that play.
  6. The Saints have nothing to be disappointed about. They will be a team to take seriously next year. Not that they shouldn't have been taken seriously this year. They were the team I was most afraid of in the NFC this year. Brees is an awesome QB. If Brees had time he could have done a lot of damage. I'm not sure why the Saints abandoned the running game just to ease the pressure but Peyton knows his team and I'm sure he had a reason. Can you really say they abandoned the run when they never really ran in the first place? Deuce and Reggie combined for 10 carries. Brees threw the ball 49 times.
  7. Offense vs. Defense. Defense has been winning these types of battles in fairly recent Super Bowls. May that trend continue this year!

  9. That move is stupid IMO, you screw it up one time, and one time is all it takes, and you are paralyzed for life. It probably won't happen to Bush, because he is so athletic, but what about some younger kid trying to emulate it? Why would anyone want to emulate looking like an idiot in front of millions of viewers? This is a team sport, not an individual sport. Somersaults into the endzone is a selfish individual activity. Did Drew Brees do a cartwheel after throwing the ball to Bush? Did the offensive line do back flips for giving Brees time to find Bush wide open? Did the other receiver that made the pick allowing Bush to get open do a handstand? Did any of the Bears do somersaults on their TD runs? Reggie's somersault didn't even give the Saints the lead. They never got the lead. The Saints scored zero points after the somersault. There was a missed field goal that could have given them the lead, but 40+ yard field goals in outdoor stadiums are not "gimme's" unless your name is Gould. Did the somersault have any impact in the Bears defense shutting the Saints down for the rest of the game? I sure hope so. I get so tired of watching clowns who make millions treat the game like it's their own individual arena.
  10. And I hope Hendry is right about Izturis. But, I'm very, very skeptical that Izturis will be any better with a bat than the worst SS's in the league.
  11. I thought Reggie Bush's somersault was a bit more arrogant than Chocolate Milk's post, but luckily for CM, his post won't live forever in infamy like Reggie's flip. HAHA! Do it again Reggie. Way to put personal performance before team performance!
  12. What I noticed about the offensive game plan with the Bears is keeping things unpredictable. It was almost obvious that when the Bears walked all over the D-Line with the run in the first half that the Bears assumed that the Saints would make the necessary adjustments at the half, so the Bears came out firing passes to counter attack. Unfortunately, Rex wasn't sharp on his passes, so it didn't bear the fruit I had hoped. But, I did like what they were trying to do.
  13. Now if we could just get a major league shortstop, we'd have a really good team.
  14. Cause you could smoke  LOL. Yeah. Not really. You could smoke in Qualcomm in the outer concourses as well, but even I'm in agreement that wasn't the best set up to be respectful of non-smokers.
  15. Will you be easy when the package price becomes $350+ per year? When sports bars refuse to pay the huge package price for baseball like they do Sunday Ticket, as I'm sure DirecTV seems to think sports bars will value a baseball package as much as football, the price for the everyday consumer will skyrocket.
  16. Even I enjoyed going to the tailgate parties at Qualcomm. Very fun!
  17. They used to here in SD. They don't anymore since there is nowhere to tailgate. If Wrigley had parking all the way around the stadium, I'm sure that would be quite a traditional ritual there, as well.
  18. Floyd does give them a pretty solid bench. If anyone needs to serve some DL time, they could bring up Moore for some extra RH punch off the bench.
  19. Who? Tom Sizemore...although he makes Dukes and Delmon look like choir boys. Actually I meant Grady Sizemore. He was kidding, Tom played Pete Rose in the ESPN movie about Rose. Yeah, we were both being sarcastic. :D
  20. The first couple of years, they allowed smoking. Right after the WBC, the banned it completely. It was supposed to be banned during the WBC, but I still stole a smoke or two. Now, you get fined if you smoke anywhere on the stadium grounds. And it's not like you can just exit the stadium, either. They have guys standing at the exits that make you cross the street before you light up. Let the Nazi's have their stadium. The time will come when the Padres team will be really bad. When that happens, they will be sad that they shut the smokers out. It's not like it used to be at Jack Murphy/Qualcomm where the fans enjoyed a Padres game regardless of how bad the team was. The tailgaiting alone was a big reason to go to a game. Petco doesn't have tailgaiting. I can't wait to see the revolt. I was hoping it would have happened by now. Unfortunately, the other teams in the NL West have been pretty bad of late, delaying the inevitable.
  21. I remember seeing it for 79.95 each of the past two seasons. I have already began my search for the best way to bring MLB.tv into my house. I would switch to DirecTV, but it is not an option and that sucks! MLB is the one that made the agreement to go exclusive with DirecTV. I absolutely will not support them through MLB.tv. It defeats the purpose of being upset about MLB EI.
  22. *pinch* Enjoy it, Bears fans. I love all you guys, and I love the whole Bears team. I love you Rex. I love you Thomas Jones/Cedric Benson. I love you Offensive Line, you scrappy veterans. I love you Bernard Berrian and Muhsin Muhammad (and you too Rashied!). You guys have made the plays when they needed to be made. When they needed to be made. I love you Defensive Line. You guys circled the wagons and have regrouped since losing your best player. Keep it up. I love you Linebackers. You guys are the best in the league. That means you too, Hillenmeyer. I love you Defensive Backs. I'll always have a love hate relationship with you guys, but you're constantly put into tough situations and have come out victorious more often than not. See how good our DB's can be when we have Tillman, Vasher and Ricky Manning all healthy? I love you Robbie Gold. I love you Devin Hester. Most of the time. Where's the love for Brad Maynard? His punt shifted the momentum back to the Bears. Clark and McKie say they want a little bit of love too. And where is the love for the rest of the special teams. Adrian Peterson was amazing yesterday.
  23. Here's hoping for an entertaining game that has the Bears winning handely. I'll be slamming Bloody Mary's at my favorite watering hole since the Bears have an outstanding record when I do that.
  24. Here is the letter I'm submitting to Butt Selig. To whom it may concern, I’ve been a lifelong fan of baseball. I have been very disappointed recently to learn that the MLB Extra Innings package will now be available exclusively on DirecTV. I have had the MLB Extra Innings package every year that it has been made available to me in the San Diego cable market. It is with with sad regret that I will no longer subscribe to this service now that it is being taken away from me. I absolutely WILL NOT switch to DirecTV. Now that they will have a monopoly on this package, not only will it become much more expensive to purchase through the exclusive rights, but I am very much against any company that is free to charge as much as they want for a product because there is no competition. I feel very sad for MLB to have the gall to consider their own greed before the baseball fan. It took a lot for me to come back to the sport after the last strike. The greed only hurt the fan base. I believe the same will happen with the exclusivity rights with DirecTV. With the steroid controversy in full swing, I find it shocking that MLB would take another swing at the people who support this sport by taking away something many of us enjoy. Many people, like myself, are transplants to other parts of the country. MLB EI allowed us to still keep close tabs on our favorite teams no matter where we lived. DirecTV is available to me here where I live, but it’s not my current cable provider and it most likely never will be. My current cable provider offers me a package deal for my digital telephone service, my cable internet and my digital cable service. Does DirecTV offer this at a comparable price? I don’t think so. I’m about as passionate of a baseball fan as it gets. If I am unwilling to switch cable companies to continue getting MLB EI, how many other fans are more passionate than me and will make the switch. I doubt many will. I could still get the streaming video through MLB to watch games on the internet, but not only is it not the same thing as tv, but I do many things on my computer (including work) that would not allow me to sit there and watch my computer screen for a typical 3 hour game. I just won’t do it. MLB EI on my tv allowed me to continue working on my computer and watching games on my tv. I suppose MLB will be receiving the 700 million dollars promised by DirecTV regardless of how successful this venture ends up. However, the future fan base that will be excluded from view because they either don’t want DirecTV, have had poor experiences in the past with DirecTV, or cannot receive it in their area could have many years of negative impact on the sport of major league baseball. And if greed really is the reason behind this exclusivity deal, I have better things to do with my time. Instead of MLB capitalizing on baseball as the national past time with huge spikes in fantasy baseball, which in turn leads to more subscribers to MLB EI, instead MLB seems to want to allow steroids and exclusivity rights drag MLB through the mud. I was furious during the strike year. It took me 3 to 4 years to completely recover. Fantasy baseball was one of the reasons I came back. It elevated my interest to a whole new level. If this deal goes down, which is apparently the case, you will be losing this fan. I’m sure I won’t be the only one. Instead of becoming a part of the solution, you appear to want to be part of the problem. Just wait until everyone in the country hears what this exclusive deal is about to do to John Q. Public. Between this and the steroid scandals, one more strike ought to be just about right for MLB to disappear forever. And that’s pretty sad. I still have high school, college and minor league baseball that I can enjoy locally. MLB will no longer get my hard earned entertainment dollar. I have had to succumb to monopolies for electricity and water services, but for a baseball game? This is the 21st century for crying out loud. My cable provider should be able to offer me whatever I want to watch, for a price of course. Thanks for being part of the problem rather than the solution. Thanks for nothing!
