  1. Whenever he gets healthy. I'm thinking look for him during the October call ups.
  2. Good article from Martin Rogers
  3. Away to Honduras is going to be a b.
  4. [expletive] Bocanegra. Pussied out on the first goal. Lazied out on the second goal. Had his back to Sabah and just stood there flat-footed. Gooch was immense. Davies was immense. That's about it. Howard was good enough. DeMerit was strong but showed his limitations providing cover and when people get behind him. There were a lot of poor performances, but I think most of it stemmed from the poor clearance of the back line. The back line didn't play anything good to Clark and Bradley who in turn didn't play anything good to Donovan and Dempsey who in turn didn't feed anything (other than the superb pass from Cakes to Davies) to the top. Combine a loss with the frustration of having zero organized possession, being on your back heels all day, typical unfair CONCACAF officiating and the [expletive] [expletive] games that Dos Santos and Castillo love to play and I did not enjoy this game. I didn't expect to, but for once I wish it could just all be about the play on the field, not the bull [expletive] Mexican antics and typically poor officiating.
  5. You guess correctly. [expletive] espn. soccer was made for HDtvs Telemundo is in HD.
  6. Charlie Davies is giving Clint a run for his money for coolest dude on the squad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AH9yYvkZVyo Go to 1:55.
  7. This is my strategy. I have old podcasts saved to listen to on the off chance that fresh one will have score update or something. Usually on game day of day games, I'm off work. I couldn't swing it tomorrow. Usually on game days I wear my #8 jersey, but tomorrow I'm not going to because I don't want any random Mexicans on the street or at a restaurant or something telling me the score without me asking. I'm also going strictly drive through tomorrow at lunch. I can't risk going anywhere with a tv. My head says 2-1 El Tri. My heart says 2-0 to the US. I'll go with 2-1 to the US. Cakes and Jozy get a notch each, Tim Mother [expletive] Howard makes save after incredible save, Gooch steps on Blanco and breaks his hip and Mike Bradley rips off the head of that one Brazilian chick with the head band and holds it high as they leave the field victorious.
  8. Good. Big minutes and consistent selection in the PL is better than a risk move to a "better" team. Especially in a World Cup year.
  9. Up to date TV info about tomorrow's potentially historic, but probably not match: http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Mens-National-Team/2009/08/Live-Coverage-Information-USA-Mexico.aspx
  10. This is pretty standard settlement spin. If you just settle, you look guilty. The cabbie said a lot of damning, specific things about Patrick. Now he starts to obfuscate and back peddle. Soon, he will have a Ferrari and a condo in South Beach and Patrick will be scoring goals. I'm not saying I know what happened, I'm just saying this behavior is predictable.
  11. http://carlos-vela.net/gallery/photos/Carlos-Vela-Photos-010.jpg They seem close.
  12. Nope.
  13. http://www.calciomercato.com/index.php?c=46&a=136579 Ignoring the picture of not-Jon Spex, this is an interesting rumor. Personally I'd rather he stay with West Ham where he has a track record and will get (Premier League) minutes. USS, I need you to effort this rumor's veracity.
  14. Earlier in the show: "United is in real trouble this year. This just isn't the same team that has dominated Europe the last two years. They are in for some hard times." Just now: "Come on, Sir Alex has been through this too many times to count. He gets written off and he bounces back faster than anyone expects. The man knows how to rebuild a team."
  15. "This game is going to be fun for the Mexican public. We aren't going to be able to stop them. I'll go conservative. 2-0 Mexico. If we get one, I'll feel good about it. I think Sacha's happy he's not going to Azteca."
  16. "Landon doesn't deserve to start every game. He should only start games in which he fits the tactics. The game in Mexico is pointless. We can't win. It's impossible. We shouldn't even show up. We're going to get killed. Don't have any expectations. Stuart Holden is as good a free kick taker/corner taker as David Beckham. Steve Cherundolo should start over Jonathan Spector." -Eric Wynalda, Fox Football Phone-In, August 10, 2009
  17. If this doesn't work, say hello to MLS. Man, he should just come back to MLS now. Denmark? It's a money thing. He's making 900,000+ Euro. These loans get his money off of Benfica's books. No one in MLS is going to pay Freddy that kind of cheese. Plus the whole pride thing.
  18. I couldn't get Wednesday off which sucks. http://blog.washingtonpost.com/soccerinsider/ If this doesn't work, say hello to MLS.
  19. A lot of people are being hypocrites in this situation. I believe "let he among us who hasn't beaten a 62 year old man while screaming DON'T YOU KNOW WHO THE [expletive] I AM cast the first stone."
  20. More than anything, I'm surprised that midget didn't get his ass kicked by the cabbie.
  21. Cooper's debut header: http://www.myvideo.de/watch/6789582/Kenny_Cooper_1_0_vs_TuS_Koblenz Also, Jozy got his work permit.
  22. He's got to be near the top of their wage list.
  23. Clint reworked his Fulham deal. 4 years, $3,034,379.90 PER.
  24. I hope this isn't a trend, but Sochaux started one up top. Davies came in the 71st. Holy s, check out this volley from Landon. About 1:20 in: http://web.mlsnet.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=5994545 Left footed sickness.
  25. http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2009/08/saturday-ticker-zamora-to-play-for-tt-everton-targets-obinna-and-more.html Trinidad & Tobago get their very own Brian Ching in time for a last gasp qualifying effort.
