  1. Dave Roberts was traded from the Dodgers to the Red Sox in 2004, and then from the Red Sox to the Padres last offseason. So then-Dodgers GM Paul DePodesta traded him away first, and then Kevin Towers traded for him. Overpaid, perhaps, but it wasn't to get back a player he originally gave up. Your point on the dizzying world of GM work is well-taken, however.
  2. Sutter wore No. 42 as a Cub.
  3. I don't want Huff in RF. There's a reason that a good number of the teams looking to acquire him are intending to play him in LF or at 1B, because his defense in RF is, at best, sub-par.
  4. I thought only deals in which a cash amount of $1 million or larger was included had to be approved by the league?
  5. Supposedly, he also possesses a superb arm behind the dish, so they feel they can move Estrada, and then start McCann with Brayan Pena backing him up, and not lose anything offensively or defensively from the catching tandem they began 2005 with, of Johnny Estrada and Eddie Perez.
  6. The Hank Aaron Award is given to the top overall offensive performer in each league, as voted online by MLB fans. The Player's Choice Awards are, as the name suggests, voted on by all major league players. The Sporting News gives out their own awards as decided by their writers. The big awards -- MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, Manager of the Year -- are voted on by the Baseball Writers' Association, and are set to be announced November 7-14.
  7. Apologies. No need to apologize, we were outcoached and outplayed today. I just wish I wouldn't have spent 5 hours in a car and over $50 to go to Lawrence and watch this disappointment. Look on the bright side, you got to enjoy a beautiful day in Lawrence at Memorial Stadium. My drive here from home is 8 hours, and I guarantee you the out-of-state tuition I pay to go here is more than $50, so if you look at it that way, you got a discount.
  8. Apologies.
  9. Doesn't sound like any problem a few warning shots wouldn't cure. Kill two birds with one stone: clear the jerks out of the area, and make them feel like they're right at home in the streets around the Cell.
  10. Don't rip it from the wall, but still set it on fire. Wow, don't know if I ever noticed you're at Mizzou. You live on campus? Yeah, im in cramer. where you live? Wolpers here. Cubbies75 is also a Cramer resident. Really now? I know several Cub fans in Cramer, I wonder if I've met him before. By the way, nice picture. That was a hell of a game on Saturday, wasnt it? You heading to Lawrence on Saturday? That was quite the game. No, I'm not making the trek this weekend, headed home to job hunt. Hopefully we don't screw it up. EDIT: Your post took, you just put it inside one of the quotes on accident. Ah i see. hopefully we can pull it out. having the tigers be good in football is something us cub fans need right now. Most certainly. As a KU Jayhawk, I think I'm supposed to make some sort of comment here but meh, no wind in the sails tonight. Real glad I'm not back home right now. It would be unbearable.
  11. Here's the article the "Go Fish!" quote came from: http://news.yahoo.com/s/chitribts/20051023/ts_chicagotrib/soxfansreachtoplevelsinwashington It's disgusting. It really is. There is no other fanbase in the majors that is, on the whole, more obxnoxious and without class.
  12. Because no one quite believes he's 25? :^o
  13. Figgins was born January 22, 1978, so, yes, he's 27. C - Yadier Molina 1B - Justin Morneau 2B - I have no idea, it seems like all the good 2B's besides Weeks (Loretta, Belliard, Hudson, Utley, Vidro, etc) are over 25 SS - Cesar Izturis 3B - Aaron Hill OF - Matt Murton OF - Grady Sizemore OF - Victor Diaz SP - Carlos Zambrano RP - Jonathan Papelbon CL - Bobby Jenks
  14. Santana was born March 13, 1979. Wouldn't that make him 26?
  15. Not necessarily baseball-related, but... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-garciaparrarescue&prov=ap&type=lgns Is there anything he can't do?
  16. The schedule on Cleveland's official site says they play "vs. CHC", which means, I believe, we play at Cleveland. Otherwise the schedule would say "@ CHC".
  17. #55 Thanks. First guy to wear the number since Estes, I think.
  18. To anyone who's watching the game tonight (I'm in Kansas and thus unfortunately don't get CSN games out here), just curious, have they shown what number Theriot was assigned with the big league club?
