  1. I would hope that no one would fall for that after last night's overdose.
  2. Hey! Positive thinking! The guy hasn't signed yet. This too.
  3. Let's hope the guy's got a whole gaggle of kids he needs to put through college or some other interest that behooves him to make as much money as possible.
  4. Somewhat encouraging. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-padres-bradley&prov=ap&type=lgns From this, it doesn't sound like the Padres' offer is a whole lot higher than $10-$11 million a season. The Cubs can outdo that.
  5. Anyone have any idea what the Padres' biggest deals have been annually? I don't like hearing that the Padres think they can just steal this guy. Who's been refreshing this thread every 5 minutes waiting for news? Not Padre fans, I guarantee you that! 8-[ I think the AP called Peavy's recent extension (3 years, $52 mil) the Padres' biggest contract (in average money per year) in franchise history.
  6. Hence "or simply not be made, in lieu of news." But never mind. I can see I'm outnumbered and the flood of memes and Photoshops and the like will continue regardless.
  7. On a Thursday? I'll see your bucket and raise you a http://icanhascheezburger.files.wordpress.com/2007/03/_2.jpg I know my lolruses. ... Have we signed Fukudome yet?
  8. Maybe it's just me, but I think the incessant Rick Roll talk should be replaced with posts actually pertaining to the topic, or simply not be made in lieu of any actual news. Again, could just be me.
  9. Very doubtful. Bruce posted several pages ago that given what he felt would be required approval from Angelos for any deal involving Roberts to go through, it was unlikely this would get done tonight.
  10. Chone Figgins in CF? Is he serious? What can Figgins do in CF that Pie can't? I don't get it.
  11. This. After leaving Cleveland's organization at the end of 2006, Doobie played all of 2007 at Norfolk, Baltimore's Triple-A affiliate.
  12. So you've learned what we already knew, that Baltimore sports fans are a largely delusional bunch? :-k
  13. He was released because he blew out his knee playing basketball and won't pitch at all in 2008.
  14. Should we be worried that this Seattle writer spelled his name as "Kosume Fukodome"? :-k
  15. Ohman is owed $1.6 mil per the 2-year, $2.5 mil deal he signed last offseason, Infante is arbitration-eligible and earned $1.3 mil in 2007, so the Cubs probably save about $3 million. Not bad.
  16. It'll keep him out of the Cubs' outfield should they fail to land Fukudome. That's nice enough for me.
  17. From a production standpoint that would probably be solid, but it raises two questions for me: - Can a Pie/Murton platoon produce suitably for right field? - Damon was the designated hitter in 47 games in 2007 and if I'm not mistaken, he's had recurring foot/leg injuries over the past few seasons. Do we want that in center field and inevitably have to defer to Pagan/Fuld/both Pie and Murt in the lineup in the same day when/if those injures recur? Damon's also questionable and continually declining in the outfield. I don't hate this idea, but it would worry me if it got done. I'm still solidly in the Fukudome camp.
  18. Damon would be a big name acquisition, but where would he play? Put him in left and move Soriano to right?
  19. As was posted previously in the thread, it appears that he met with his agent in Japan with the specific intent of going over the offers from the various MLB clubs, indicating that it's likely he'll be coming to America.
  20. Shoulder surgery in September 2006, rehabbed all of 2007 but made no major league appearances this season.
