    We are going to have a dominant, middle-of-the-order college hitter who plays a premium defensive position fall into our lap and we are going to blow it. Only the Cubs.

    He's 18 and posted an .894 OPS at low-A as a 17-year old last season. Thank you. I think most people fail to understand how incredible that is. Scouting well and at least holding his own in leagues way too advanced for his age is a great combination.

    If I'm lucky enough to get Martinez, I don't much care about the second guy, but Heilman is good. This year: WHIP=0.95, BAA=.198 Last year: WHIP=1.16, BAA=.231

    Carlos Zambrano has proven to be extremely easy to control.

    The most impressive thing about Kroeger is his relatively low strikeout rate. He has a very high BABIP, but there's plenty of room for that to come down and still have a good stat line.

    How comical is it that the Braves scratched John Smoltz from his scheduled start today? I wonder how that discussion went. Was the question "Why waste Smoltz on the Cubs?" asked?

    It seems highly unlikely that the rumor is false, as Pie was not in the lineup last evening for AAA Iowa.

    Might very well be Murton that is traded. I hope it isn't that because that also means Jones is the everyday RF. Given the current state of affairs, our everyday right fielder should be Angel Pagan.
