  1. Do Harvey and Dope permanently have a place on "slipped a rung"?
  2. Count me in too. I have no problem with strikeouts if they are accompanied by walks.
  3. The catch is that hes not evaluating talent development, hes evaluating talent.
  4. the older you are the less of "young" talent you are the more appropriate wtf would have been on Edwin Jackson. Last year was only his year 24 season, but still.
  5. Agreed. I'm afraid it will be ugly as quick as 2008. Arod in a heartbeat. Well if you add in the signing bonus we paid 17M for a guy who out OPS'ed the NL average for his postion by 63 points. So, it was actually ugly in year 1.
  6. Cheapest place that's on the market in the tower is almost $800k. For a 710 square foot studio. Oh, and I lied a bit earlier when i said it was 60% done. It's just a tad shorter than the IBM building right now, and the IBM building is something like 47 stories. The Trump Tower is supposed to be 92. So it's somewhere around 50% of max height. How does that compare to other condo highrises downtown? I've always been curious what kind of prices they were. wayyyy higher. I'd say the average downtown new construction highrise one bedroom is $300-325k-ish Higher than that. Even old, crappy Marina Tower is over 250K.
  7. It'd be rough on my slice.
  8. Two months late to the party, but Sean Marshall stopped being good at keeping balls in the yard and recording outs, so it seemed like a good idea to replace him with a veteran pitcher from the AL down the stretch. It seemed like a good idea and it wasn't. No, no it didn't.
  9. Fixed. I agree 100%. That really is a move that needs to be explored. If Colletti is serious about adding veterans, then we need to assist him in adding them, especially if he's willing to dump on Kemp and Loney. I'd trade Lee and Marmol for both, honestly. Thing about Colletti is he appears to be regretting the Pierre contract. He supposedly wants to make a run at Andruw Jones. If he moves Kemp and Loney it's not unlikely he'll try to package them with Pierre, since it's the only way to make Pierre disappear without eating a big part of the $36.5M he's owed. Unfortunately Pierre is a type of player that Hendry actually values, so he might do a deal. This would put Pie on the trading block. Coletti should trade Pierre and Nomar to Cinci for Dunn and EE. He should probably throw in Beimel for good measure and try to get Hatteberg to back up Loney.
  10. The Bulls have been willing to include Deng. Kobe is the one who has been vetoing any deals involving Lu. I think this is the piece of info that got leaked out that infuriated Paxson and made him rant against the media and call it a fabrication.
  11. Becaues he is Any MacPhail. Now, now, lets not pick on anyone with the name "MacPhail".
  12. I never said it was shocking, I remarked about how scary the thought of lowell in that lineup would be... I phrased that badly... I meant to say he hasn't looked like he's ready You honestly think we'd make the playoffs again with the exact same team? To the last line...yeah, we will have about as good of a shot as we had this year.

  14. cabrera? Miggy-for 1st base I'd not move Lee until we had an adequate replacement. Trade a bag of peanuts for Hatteberg. Or better yet, trade an arm for Loney. 1Bs aren't that hard to come by.
  15. The only thing that is laughable is the first post in this thread.
  16. Thanks for that...I think from all the info available, Paxon was peeved that some stuff got leaked to the media, and some of the media rumors were false (leading him to call them a fabrication). Yet at the same time, the deal isn't dead. Paxon is doing exactly what he should do. He has all the leverage, he doesn't need to budge. The bulls team is fine as is. If the Lakers want to get rid of Kobe and Kobe wants to go to a team with Deng and will veto anything else, the only thing the Lakers can do is budge or stick with Kobe, which it appears they don't want to do. Something with Gordon and Thomas makes the most sense.
  17. Really? I'm not frustrated with Pax at all. Giving up all our players for Kobe would be a bad idea. Unless we can somehow get Kobe without giving up our team, we're going to wind up with a worse ballclub than we have right now. I'm glad Pax isn't giving in to this. I think any deal not involving Deng, would probably be a pretty good deal. I loved the rumor deal with Ben Wallace, hes such a waste of money. Unfortunately, we really don't have anyone to replace him (although I've heard Gray is doing well).
  18. Hey, we're better than the second worst run organization! FWIW, the worst run organization (Giants) spent very slightly less than the orioles. And the worst (Astros) spent only slightly less as well.
  19. http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=68887 The local beat writers are running with that. All he said was that nothing was happening "for now." In fact, I think the Trib article even left that part out. This is just Pax's way of trying to quell some of the speculation/rumors. I guarantee that talks are ongoing. LA wants to rid themselves of this problem. The entire front office is unanimous in that. Obviously, just like Bernsie said, some real info got out. That's what Pax is peeved about. If it were really fiction, he wouldn't care. How many rumors aren't there out there that are totally false and never get commented on? Something true was leaked and obviously they weren't happy about it. That's why Pax came out and said what he did. I also think it's a little bit of playing hardball with LA through the media. I don't believe for one second that negotiations are dead. He's not just saying it's done for now. He's saying it's done, period. I don't know all about the politics, but that's a direct quote from the guy. I think it's over. And I'm glad Pax is saying this. I'll guarantee our players had it in their minds the whole time this was happening. That's no way to have to play a game, no matter how professional you are supposed to be. And I'm telling you the quote is incomplete. I heard what he said. He said, "for now, at least," at the end of it. I saw a replay of the quote lastnight and they continued on and he said (paraphrasing) "it was a fabrication of the media", not "for now, at least". Must have been a different quote than you saw, but the first two sentences were nearly identical and the continuation made it pretty clear. I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm sure he said something to the affect of those two sentences dozens of time through the interview and other quotes. I'm just adding that this is another piece of info.
  20. What can I say, I'm nostalgic for better days!
  21. Rotoworld gets a Guitar Hero comment in there too... On a side note GHIII is amazing. The day it came out, I played it until my hand couldn't move anymore.
  22. Didn't see this posted and hadn't heard but... Zumaya is going to be out the first half of the season after undergoing surgery today. Injured himself moving his possessions (read: Guitar Hero) during the wildfires. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071101/SPORTS02/71101044
