  1. You might have the start of a decent 3-way trade: How about: 1. Cubs trade Marmol to the Dodgers for Eithier. 2. Dodgers trade Kemp, Broxton/Marmol, and Kershaw to the Orioles for Bedard. 3. Orioles trade Tejada to the Cubs for Cedeno, Marshall, Patterson, and Ohman. I think the dodgers are giving up too much in the bedard trade and the cubs arent giving up enough in the tejada trade. How about: 1. Cubs send Marmol, Gallagher, Cedeno, Ohman to the Orioles, Patterson and Murton to Dodgers 2. Dodgers send Kemp and Kershaw to the Orioles, Ethier to the Cubs 3. Orioles send Tejada to the Cubs, Bedard to the Dodgers
  2. MacPhail really wants to improve his bullpen. We could get in the middle of this with Marmol. I don't think we could get one of the principles, but we could possibly get Ethier out of the deal. Hes a lefty so matches up with the Cubs wants. Last year put up 284/351/452 The always optimistic James has him at 304/371/477 for 2008. PECOTA had him at 294/363/473 for 2008 Also, of course we should be gunning for Tejada as well.
  3. It would be a brilliant move on the Cubs part to get a guy like Carlos Gonzalez, however, it will never happen. The Cubs aren't willing to give their own prospects a chance. How on Earth is someone else's prospect going to get that chance? Because our prospects aren't very good. This guy is good. If the Diamondbacks need a SP, send them Marquis and a prospect. Gonzalez is a no brainer top 50 prospect and possibly/probably top 25. In other words...you've set the bar pretty high for most ridiculous trade proposal of the day. Thanks for being such an ass about it. u could have merely said that wouldn't get it done/be enough. It's replies like this that keep me away from most discussions on this board. Sorry, but when people propose receiving one of the best products in the game for a guy on our team that we couldn't give away for nothing, thats the response you are going to get.
  4. how long is bradley out though? does he miss any time in 2008? He probably won't be ready by ST or the start of the season. Don't forget, not only did he have a torn ACL, but he had a torn meniscus as well as right eblow surgury to remove loose bodies.
  5. We haven't talked about Kuroda in a really really really long time.

  7. I don't think that's exactly what Bruce said. I think what he said sounded more like: Thanks, I was too lazy to copy and paste.
  8. Bruce just said payroll will be $115MM in the Transactions Forum.
  9. Bruce just said that payroll is going to be $115MM for 2008.
  10. Either LA team has prospects to hand 3b over to. Only reason they were in on ARod and are in on Miggy is because those guys are super (duper) stars. They'd be [expletive] to block them for Rolen. the dodgers are [expletive] though. i could see them doing this. Colletti is [expletive], but I can't see him being that [expletive].
  11. 10/280 is the number I've heard and that sounds about right (with incentives that push it beyond 300). Where have you heard 10/220, thats pretty ridiculous considering he walked away from 3/81. You'd have a crapload of teams drooling over him at 10/220.

  13. None of them, if they had their druthers. They need all the pitching they can get. DRays should have a much improved 2008 rotation of Kazmir, Shields, Niemann, Sonnanstine, and Jackson. That cuts out 44 starts from guys that had over a 7.50 ERA. That had a HUGE affect on their cumulative starters ERA. They could realistically decrease it by a full run next year and be decently better than league average. Come 2009 when Davis, McGee, and Price could be ready...watch out. They'll need to do something about their pen though. cough sell high on marmol cough
  14. Hes dominating winter ball. I'd gladly take him for CF or RF. Of all the Ray's young OFs hes the most patient. James predicts 351/459 PECOTAs 2008 on him was 354/462 ...and hes stayed out of trouble so far.
  15. Did Chipper retire? Did the Braves find $55M Chipper's a FA? no
  16. he sent a memo to the bbwa telling them that hed beat them up if they didnt vote for him. duh
  17. James predicts a 279/345/416 line for Fontenot
  18. Did Chipper retire? Did the Braves find $55M
  19. I've seen Hellickson listed over Niemann, but I'd prefer Niemann to Hellickson in return if I'm trading Hill. Davis and McGee (and obviously Price), aren't realistic return in a trade, but I wonder if they would throw in Niemann to get it done since they do have those three. Frankly though, if I were the Rays I'd be talking to the Dodgers about Kershaw. I'm also not enamored with Delmon Young's lack of patience over the course of his career and lack of xbh's last year. It was a pretty pathetic showing. And BJ Upton's strike out rate and BABIP are alarming.
  20. I'd trade Hill and Co. for Crawford if we got McGee/Niemann back Davis, not Niemann. I'd still take Niemann, last year looks sorta bad due to an 9.89H/9. Davis obviously over Niemann, though.
  21. I'd trade Hill and Co. for Crawford if we got McGee/Niemann back
  22. What minor league OF do the Cubs have besides Colvin (who isn't going anywhere)? I've been trying to think of what else the Rays have that could interest the Cubs to make Hill and others worthwhile. Can't really think of anything. Josh Kroeger or Sam Fuld could be the minor league OF.
  23. Or, you are wrong. Yeah because the dodgers, angels, dbacks, rays, yanks, redsox, etc are all just pining for a SS and there are about 84 3B on the market. Its just the cubs and the cards who need SS and to a lesser extent the astros. No, they don't have to trade Tejada now, but the team is taking a different direction, and his value may not be higher. Excluding Hill does not necessarily mean that the offer would just be made up of prospects, there are a couple other guys on the team that Hendry hasn't given NTCs to. Based on MacPhail's quotes, I think Marmol could be the centerpiece, not Hill. This is an interesting read. i can think of five teams off the top of my head who would be interested in acquiring tejada - all of which have better young talent than the cubs if we exclude hill. And I assume most of those teams are looking at him as a 3B where there are many better options available on the trading block. Go ahead and make your case.
