  1. bases loaded, zero outs!!! not sure if you can call that a good at bat or not.....
  2. Ahhh, my band played with Fall Out Boy back in the day - before they got all Good Charlotte on us.
  3. UPDATE: This from Yahoo! Fantasy Sports (written this morning): ??????? Now he's going to win???
  4. YEA!!! Cubs win on my 21st b-day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. hahaha, I love it.
  6. I was bored so I put this together..... Matt Lawton (Yanks): .108 (4-37), 1 HR, 2 RBI No big loss here. I'm glad we got a marginal pitching prospect for that. Latroy Hawkins (Giants): 3.94 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 2/5 Saves Amazingly, he's been worse as a Giant than as a Cub. He's blown 10% more saves (in a limited role, of course) and his WHIP is up. Todd Hollandsworth (Braves): 2-16, 6 Ks in PH role (.125) Looks like the doubters were right about Holla coming into this year. Mike Remlinger (Red Sox; DFA): 14.85 ERA (11 ER in 6+ IP) Five walks and two HR allowed in 6 innings is a recipe for disatser, Mike. Jody Gerut (Pirates): .222 (4-18) before landing on DL. OUCH. Sammy Sosa (O's): .221, 14 HR, 45 RBI, 2 DL stints I'm lovin it. I wonder how much worse we'd be this year if we had kept these losers.
  7. I, for one, did not think Rick Ankiel had a chance as a hitter, but sure enough, he's turned into a legit hitting prospect. Here's a note from Yahoo! Fantasy Sports: Who knew?
  8. If we were winning despite his bad moves, I think not as many people would be calling for his head, but I certainly do not think that he would have much more support from Cubs fans in general.
  9. The Cubs shell out almost $20,000 for each Macias TOTAL BASE. You know the one (total base) against the Cards way back on August 14? He's 0 for 12 since. I was in disbelief when his AVG actually hit .299 on the night of that hit. Well, Jose wasn't up for .300, so now he's hitting a robust .271. Don't look now Macias, but .271 is a career high for you. Dude, Dusty, this guy keeps getting big hits for us.
  10. UPDATE: D-Lee is now a 10-1 odd to win the MVP award. Albert is now a 1-2 fav, with Andruw at 8-5. Gimme a break.
  11. I periodically check these kinds of things on my sports betting website, but I was amazed at the number I saw this time.... Derrek Lee is only a 5:1 favorite of winning the MVP award according to sportingbetusa.com Albert is 5:9 and Andruw is 2:1. Derrek is killing Andruw in every category except for HR (by 3) and RBI (by 9). Not only does Andruw's .270 average look terrible next to D-Lee's .346, but the 78 runs and only 20 doubles make me question the 2:1 odds. D-Lee and Albert are quite close, with Derrek leading in HR (39-34), Albert in RBI (99 to 94) and D-Lee in OBP, SLG, and AVG. I guess it all comes down to whether or not Albert should be treated differently based on the fact that his team went to the playoffs. (Duh.) What I want to know is how many of you guys think D-Lee would get voted MVP if the season ended today?
  12. I realize that we have a lot of teams to catch, and I realize that there have been enough optimistic threads lately (well, maybe not), but as horrible as we've been playing, 7 games back doesn't seem like that much to me. As a sprots betting man, I would give the Cubs 100:1 odds of winning the Wild Card. That's enough of a reason to watch the games eh???
  13. now THIS is the hard-hitting analysis and news i expect when i log on to this board
  14. It seems my dad sat next to Jim Hendry on his flight this morning (Hendry had been scouting the Daytona Cubs I believe). Hendry mentioned that he was disappointed in the season and even more disappointed with the whole Patterson thing. He def. hinted that a Patterson trade was more than in the works. Think Sosa and Farnsworth last offseason. Hendry apparently has a hot wife too....anyone have pics of her????
  15. Was sick of his averageness last July, so I traded Barry Zito for Derrek Lee. Everyone in my league (keeper league) bashed me until Zito lost like 7 of 8 stars and D Lee started to heat up. Of course, we all know what happened in 05. One trade that I'm still kicking myself for last lear is trading Soriano and Baez for M Young and Graves. Young finished much stronger than Soriano, but I believe that was right when Graves got stuck on 40 saves, so my save situation wasn't resolved. Mike Young is a great fantasy player, but Mark Loretta and his DL season have kept me from regretting the Soriano trade every time I see that Soriano hit a HR. :(
  16. Maybe it's because they're the Cubs.
  17. I think he showed what he could do in 2001. .273, 34 HR, 32 SB, 38 2B in 146 games. Granted that would be his highest single season AVG, but hey, he did put his skills together!
  18. As far as him being the worst hitter in 50 years, I don't really care as long as most of that low production has come in his pre-Cub era. I'm not saying that he won't (because the last 2 months he has) come back down to earth, but I have a hard time bashing the guy for previously sucking. Let's not forget how many Burnitz doubters fed us pre-Coors stats and said a good season out of him would be .250, 20,65 or whatever. I'm all for Neifi as a backup if he does what he does best - plays the "scrappy hitter role". He had a great pitch to hit with a runner in scoring position in his 4th at bat I believe, and he tried to hit it over the right field fence instead of hitting a line drive. His greediness in the 10th is debatable as of now....... :?
  19. Looking through some baseball stats and I found that Neifi is 8th in the majors in air outs, but of the top 20 leaders in air outs, Neifi has the least amount of extra base hits. I think it's time for Neifi to realize he has zero power and that he should try to get the ball on the ground more and try to find holes in the infiled, rather than the OF. We can't have out weakest hitter popping out in 30% of his PA. And it's not like he's even coming close to the warning track with these outs.... :x
