    IIRC, we gave Clemens his first loss in 2004 after he started the year 8ish-0 and delayed his 300th victory as well. this has been the cubs as of the last 5 years we get owned routinely by guys like wes obermueller, but when living legends roll into town, we become all worldly.

    first and formost, that's a very out there explanation for Slappy's pisspoor performance, secondly, even if he put up the numbers you suggested, there's always the chance that resigning him could blow up in our face, like say the trade for him has so far?

    I always ask this, but no one knows. Why is it that a college football or basketball can be drafted, recieve money, and play minor leageu baseball and remain an amatuer, yet if he simply signs with an agent or in anyway receives any special consideration, financial or not, regarding one of the two sports I mentioned, he is NOT considered an amatuer? The NCAA needs to be looked into. I have said this for years. It's an unfair and arbitrary double standard.
