  1. I'm in first in a 12 team h2h money league. My offense is very solid, although I have no bench. I'm tempted to pick up Freel, since he's so versatile (and could use his SB), but I'm waiting for him to show that he's healthy. I recently made a trade giving up 3 guys to get Joe Mauer. This leaves me with Barrett and Zito to drop. I am only allowed 18 moves over the course of the season, but so far I'm only at 9 (better shape than most). Should I drop one of them for Garza or Miller? Or should I drop both? I've got a lot of pitching in terms of both talent and depth (Peavy, CC, Zambrano, Lincecum, Gallardo, Gorz, Oliver Perez and Zito). Thanks.
  2. Haha, that was quick. Nice knowing you Bowen. On a side note...I'm starting Lincecum in my fantasy league after seeing our lineup.
  3. Dunn just took out a couple lights on the scoreboard at Shea...what a bomb
  4. Distal finger sprain to Sheets
  5. He got pretty good wood on it. Caught at the track in front of the wall. Weeks walked. Grr
  6. Gorzelanny off the hook as Pittsburgh ties Atlanta on a Doumit 3-run bomb
  7. Anyone know how long this Extra Innings free preview is going to be going on? This is good stuff.
  8. I thought he caught it at first...dang it
  9. But of course Yahoo posts that it was a blister. Who knows. Announcers from the Rockies say the Milwaukee crew hasn't gotten word yet, though. I'm pretty sure they'd know by know about a blister.
  10. No, I saw the replay. He was snapping his hand and shaking it. It was the reaction one would make upon tweaking a tendon. Definitely didn't seem like the reaction one would have with a blister. Edit: I just watched it again and it looks like he was really having trouble bending it. The trainer grabbed the end of it and apparently Sheets winced in pain. Possible dislocation?
  11. I just switched to the Brewers game and saw Sheets leaving with an injury in the 4th inning. Hurt his middle finger apparently while throwing a curve. He left immediately. *edit: Colorado announcers said distal finger sprain
  12. Berkman's physique just screams "Athlete," does it not?
  13. I'm going to: drop Swisher for Prince Fielder in group C drop Ensberg for Chris Duncan in group D Already PM'ed Laura my new WC
  14. but it's very smart if it's the 1 pitch you're looking for and you're Albert Pujols Okay. Even though K-Rod wasn't able to locate more than 2-3 fastballs for strikes over the course of 3 hitters Pujols should just assume he'll groove a first pitch fastball right down the heart of the plate and find the strike zone with no problem, right? What if he throws a nasty slider in the dirt while you're looking fastball and you're down 0-1? You take the first pitch after 3 consecutive walks regardless of who you are and who's pitching. Let's say this was a Cubs game in this exact same position. Down by one...closer walks 3 straight wildly and someone swings at the first pitch with the bases loaded and flies out or pops up. You and every other member on this board would have went ballistic talking about how this team is so stupid, isn't patient at the plate and someone probably would have blamed Dusty Baker. Then you don't swing. We're talking about looking for one pitch in one location. If you get that, you let 'er rip. If you don't, you don't swing. All this being said...I think LaRussa should have plugged in Pujols there. He's a better hitter...you have to tie the game before you think of where everyone will play. If Pujols had pinch hit, I bet K-Rod wouldn't have grooved him a first pitch fastball down the heart anyway, though.
  15. Gorzo shoulda made it over Fuentes. Then you can take out Sanchez for either Ramirez. Also, Chris Young got jobbed..
  16. That's a hell of a lot of 1B
  17. I'd rather see him in the toughest spot, whether that be the 7th, 8th, or pulling 2 inning duty sometimes. He's unhittable right now.
  18. It's all falling in place... By the way...Marmol is looking absolutely fierce on the mound right now. I love it.
  19. Sounded pretty wimpy for a big bad football coach...
  20. You've also got to remember a lot of Chip's calls were on Sosa 450-500 foot moonshots. It was a lot easier to get a good read off a Sosa bomb than guys like Lee and Ramirez who aren't hitting moonshots every time up but more lined shots.
  21. Let Dempster close. He hasn't been as bad as everyone thinks. Then Marmol is a lot more versatile in that he can come in for 2 innings to hold a lead or one or two guys to get you out of a jam with a K. Let him be what Dotel was in Houston before he became a closer.
  22. Not necessarily. Maybe Wuertz and Petrick won't be available tomorrow unless it's really bad, but Marmol and Howry each went just one. Eyre and Ohman weren't used at all.
