  1. So...have we seen Hairston's last game in Cubbie blue? I have to believe so.
  2. It was truly amazing...I read that article by Mariotti and agreed completely. It actually sounded somewhat similar to the letter I wrote to ESPN. Props to Mariotti for finally writing an article that I like.
  3. Strikeouts are overrated for hitters. For pitchers they say a lot more. How so? What's the difference? You're going to say if a hitter strikes out with 2 out and no one on it doesn't matter. In that case...who cares if a pitcher strikes out a guy with 2 out and no one on or if that guy hits a flyball to left for the third out? Depending on the situation, sometimes I'd rather take the flyball if it means less pitches.
  4. I haven't ever seen an announcer going that crazy. He was really lettin' him have it. Have you ever seen anything like that?
  5. Im hoping Remmy gets DFA'd and Mitre and Cedeno get sent down. Why didn't we just save ourselves the hassle of DFA'ing him and send him to the Yankees before the deadline. If we DFA him, he'll end up in NY, no doubt.
  6. To me it means Hollandsworth assumes the role his best suited for PH-4OF, maybe, its for the best, I didn't like the prospect of watching Hill, Mitre or Wellemeyer winning 15-18 games next season for the Reds, Rangers or Devil Rays. I haven't seen enough out of them to make that suggestion quite yet.
  7. She was in LA with Leno yesterday. But...... It definately wasn't her...she was with a biker dude I think...but it looked like her
  8. Is it just me or did that girl in the front row look a heckuva lot like Jessica Simpson?
  9. I saw that too...I don't really see Aramis going to Boston for Manny..although who knows. As far as getting Soriano, he originally mentioned Patterson, and then later said TEX was asking for Hill and Pie...I wouldn't like either of those deals personally
  10. I know this is thread praising Burnitz, and why not...not many of us wanted him in the offseason. IIRC he said he wasn't worried about the fans liking him, he seemed pretty confident that we would in the long run, and I love the guy. He truly is a gamer. One question I have about him though...have any of you noticed that when he runs his hands kind of flap up and down? He's got pretty decent speed, and I know we were always taught to run by "hammering the nail," or "dipping the chip" with our hands It just makes me wonder why he runs like that.
  11. I'm pretty sure we need to pitch in and buy sherwood season tickets asap I definately think you should start a BandWGN...I would definately support that cause...
  12. I was at the game today (making me 5-0 on the season)...just wanted to say it's one of the wierdest games I've ever seen...Vizquel broke his belt during warmups (and stole 3 bases), Hill fell around 3rd, the guy in the bleachers wouldn't throw the ball back, Vizquel dropped the pop-up on purpose, Alou brought in 5 pitchers in the 8th, Murton slipped in the OF, Aramis made and error and couldn't find the ball right away...and (I don't remember who it was at the time) dropped the foul ball down the line in the "bartman territory" (as ESPN will call it). Maybe those last 2 weren't really that wierd...it's just the fact that this one game produced maybe a good 5-6 spots on the "Not Top 10" By the way...I thought Hill looked real good...and i noticed the Cubs pitchers let their runners (mainly Vizquel) get huge jumps
  13. Wow...I'm glad he was taking there...that was a cookie I believe...he likes it down and in Are you kidding me!
  14. It was in the same vain considering the circumstances. Of course, Sammy was always diving around the field so I'm not sure how much of that was necessary in his case but JHJ was digging to reach the ball then lunged and caught it before it hit the ground. Beautiful! I absolutely loved how he popped up immediately and showed a ton of emotion. It was awesome to see! Plus you could see Burnitz arm shoot up in triumph along with Walker. Then when he got back in Lee was waiting for him with his arm up too....I love watching the Cubs players happy when they succeed.
  15. Seriously...what's the point in saving him if Novoa blows it here?
  16. Oh jeez...I can smell walking in a run here
  17. What did he eat for breakfast this week?
  18. He would have been dead at home. You don't run on a swinging bunt with no one out...he's meat at the plate. If he goes everyone would be complaining that he was an idiot for running into an out.
  19. They put a band-aid and some wrap around his ankle/foot
  20. I want Walker back next year Freel can join us too
