  1. I'll be rooting for your team :D Better would be if the MLB mandated everyone wear high socks.
  2. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AvCxQTUsNwizo8UUf6A08kYRvLYF?slug=ap-marlins-girardi&prov=ap&type=lgns I guess it's a good time to implement this sort of policy when you have no veteran stars and your only 2 stars remaining don't have facial hair.
  3. Nate Vasher's level of all around greatness goes up as he's sending a family to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl and putting them up in a luxury hotel and going to dinner with them. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=14014
  4. wow, not often when a player on that stage gets the retirement question and doesn't give a tired bs response.... Bettis with the trophy pretty much calling it a career is a moment I won't soon forget.
  5. was that Jock Jones or Pierre in the Mobile ESPN commerical??? Jimmy Edmonds was in it too #-o.
  6. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060202&content_id=1305398&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc Pretty cool article that talks about him working with the infield instructor on his defense, it seems like the article is trying to scream "HE'S NOT COREY" because one of the main points is how coachable he is.
  7. i'm sure someone would take him if we paid most of his salary and took a nothing prospect back.
  8. I wonder if Aunt Florence will be getting Dope-Slaped regularilly....
  9. I don't know I think that there would be photos if people started showing up and I checked the ESPN photo wire and all it has is John Thompson throwing for the new Brave PC at Turner field, and Beltran and Delgado at some Puerto Rican home run derby.
  10. there's also the possibility that da Gooz can keep his arm in one piece and make some noise in the rotation or pen... Hill too.
  11. Albert Pujols for John Koronka, Bo Flowers & Todd Welleymeyer ??? Deal?
  12. if jones is ws mvp (for us), i'd create a shrine and worship him (maybe not).
  13. more pics http://www.deadspin.com/sports/nfl/its-good-to-be-big-ben-151809.php
  14. we should get a bunch of people together for this at some bar, with the Cards fans in Chicago and we can end the night with a big brawl and tear the place apart.
  15. and Cuban cares about winning, that's a plus.
  16. None of those impact players play a position of need of the Cubs though (a case can be made for Beckett I suppose)
  17. That kid made somebody angry. He seems like a decent guy to have on the bench so there must be something about his work ethic or some other intangible. Didn't he draw a walk in his ML debut, that's gotta be it.
  18. The WGN baseball blog has a post about it, with a video of Bill Murray talking about Ernie, as well as a clip from '70 of Ernie singing "Hey Hey Holy Mackerel".... I wish I could have watched Ernie play. http://wgntv.trb.com/sports/custom/weblog/wgnsports/?track=fif
  19. Well Derrek Lee is much the same type of player, and if i recall the only time he hasn't played is when he had little injuries and the end of blowouts (we've never really had a true backup 1B in that time though).
  20. so this means that the astros will have a horrible start and about midseason start playing well and win the wild card :x
  21. That would probably look to 'White Soxish', even with different colors, for many people.
  22. Haha yeah, either Lee should be able to get a monster contracts as well (I feel 'D' will be off the market though)
  23. Aramis Ramirez should probably be on there, since he can opt out, and can probably get more than most of those guys.
  24. That is weird, especially since he was replaced by a long snapper. The article says that Clark was mistakenly put on the team as a long snapper.
  25. There is no possible way for this to be a bad signing. The A's are not in anyway banking any sort of their future on Frank Thomas being a part of this team. He gets hurt and doesn't play, the A's are out 500K, which is nothing even for the A's and they still have Johnson and Swischer to play 1B/DH. If he contributes anything at all it's nothing but a positive. If you think that is too much Jose Macias and Timo Perez got 1 mill each last season. Frank Thomas gets 1 home run as an A and falls apart, he gets 500K and the a's go to their prospects, big whoop. Frank Thomas is healthy he's going to hit and make 3.1million = steal of the offseason.
