  1. I've been of the persuasion that the bullpen should have been the final focus after lead-off, shortstop, and the gaping hole in rightfield. We have a number of arms for the pen. But if I were going to gamble three years on a reliever, Dotel please. You would give a 3 yr. deal to Dotel who is coming off TJS? If the Cubs took that approach, there is a good chance Eyre may have already signed with someone else. As many have stated on this board, once Hendry targets someone he usually gets his man.
  2. Why do people keep comparing Eyre to Remlinger? Eyre can get out lefties, Remilinger couldn't. Isn't the age difference pretty signficant? A fair comparison?

  4. The FA market is very thin TY. I expect many trades to go down this off-season. The fact is the Cubs have more moves to make than the Cards.
  5. Maybe Ohman is now possible trade bait. Also, I'm not going to judge this signing until I see how Eyre does in a Cubs uniform. I guess all the "Mr. know it Alls" here know what the market is regarding LOOGY's as FA's. NOT!!!! Give it a chance all you pessimists & overreacter's!
  6. well said. This board needs more posters like you. You are absolutley correct. There are some good, knowlegeable & fair posters here, you just have to weed them out. Use your ignore button, it works for me.
  7. Wow, that's a heck of a good deal. 4/40 is more market value for him, imo. Bay would get that or more if he was FA eligible. I think he's still 3 years or more away from FA's.
  8. He'll get a nice raise, sorry. Rotoworld said Eyre should get minimum 3 yr/9 mil. Nov. 11, 2005 - 1:03 pm et Agent Tommy Tanzer said free agent Scott Eyre has drawn interest from all 30 teams. "I've never seen anything like it in the whole time I've been doing this," Tanzer said. Once the teams realize that Eyre is likely to command at least $9 million over three years, expect a lot of them to drop out. Source: San Jose Mercury News
  9. BJ Ryan's a closer. The Cubs already have a closer. Ryan will command 2-3 times more then Eyre.
  10. Because I don't think anybody believes that Nomar can still play a passable shortstop. Nomar at SS >>>>>>>>>> AGon II or Neifi. Offensively yes, defensively not so much.
  11. here's Rotoworld's take: Nov. 16, 2005 - 4:23 pm et Rangers acquired RHP Jon Leicester from the Cubs for a player to be named. Rangers GM Jon Daniels' first pickup looks like a very good one. Leicester was quite the disappointment last season, but the Cubs are giving up on him way too quickly. He has the fastball-slider combination to be a quality setup man. Expect him to win a spot in the Texas bullpen next spring.

  13. I have no problem with B.Miles. I never remember him going public with false information like that of B.Levine. MILES>>>levine
  14. I can't believe you guys are even buying this report. The source is Bruce Levine who = 0 credibility.
  15. This rumor did come from Bruce Levine, so take it for what it's worth.
  16. interesting stats, not quite Remlinger esque, but still interesting
  17. Who cares? He can take his, does only one thing good, to lowly KC. If it helps the Cubs I'm all for it. Depending on the prospect I like this deal. McDougal,Weurtz & Williamson setting up Dempster, that's a solid, & deep pen. Get er done, Jim! if we can just do whatever we want to players and it doesn't matter, we really should've told maddux to go away for the last month and a half to keep his option from vesting. also, you said get er done. dont do that. GET ER DONE JIM!!!
  18. Pierre is a FA after this year. If Hendry wants Pie to play in 2007 he can just let Pierre leave. Beaten by less than a minute. you don't say? Good. Now, if Hendry gave up something for a 1 year rental I will be real upset. Without even knowing what the result of Pierre in the Cubs line-up would be?
