  1. Sportsline just went out again too. What's up with the internet here?
  2. Yeah, it's been doing this a lot lately. It's starting to piss me off why do you guys use sportsline over gameday? :? When it's working properly, Sportsline is awesome. Gameday is annoying to me.
  3. Yeah, it's been doing this a lot lately. It's starting to piss me off
  4. Why did my gamecast freeze? What's going on? It still says Griffey is up with no count.
  5. Cubs did it a few games ago. Neifi was thrown out at the plate I believe.
  6. I'm not sure anyone's on the Cubs is capable of knocking him down. Where's Farnsworth when you need him? :P He's trying out for the Detroit Lions
  7. Somehow I think it would take a tank for that to happen. He's a big boy.
  8. It's all about being creative. Use two words that normally don't fit together. Mix and match, it's more fun that way. And Greg's a master because he's been doing it for 20 years. I wonder what Z is saying when he's on the mound? Anyone here speak Spanish gibberish?
  9. It looked like he might have gotten spiked or something by the catcher. They put a big bandage on the top of his foot and then rewrapped his ankle. Just from judging Burny's personality. They could remove his foot and he'd still be out in that field.
  10. Yeah, the Cards put guys on in front of Pujols. The Cubs just started getting guys on in front of Lee. But if Walker keeps tearing the cover off the ball, Lee will never win the RBI crown. But as long as the team keeps winning, I don't care if he never gets another RBI again.
  11. Come on guys, we can't waste a good bunt!
  12. Come on guys, we can't waste a good bunt!
  13. The Cubs aren't going to trade Kerry Wood. Hendry has tried to build this team around his young pitching. Mainly Prior, Zambrano, and Wood. They won't abandon that strategy just yet because they know how dominating the starting staff can be when those guys are all healthy and clicking. They have invested too much money into Kerry to just dump him for some unproven prospects.
  14. 1. Aubrey Huff 2. Juan Pierre 3. Jason Dubois (Bring him back Jim!) And regarding Kenny Williams: I think he's done a great job so far, but the playoffs are where we'll see what kind of a team he's put together. So far he's following the Bulls formula... No real huge stars, just a bunch of decent to above average guys who play well together.
  15. No, that's just crazy talk. That'd be down right... logical.
  16. I think by looking at the alternatives, shutting Kerry down isn't a great idea right now. He's too valuable to this team, whether most of the here want to admit it or not. Rusch and Mitre have really been struggling, and no one can be sure that Hill is ready yet or not. But if Kerry's arm troubles continue, I don't think it's completely out of the question that he becomes a closer somewhere. While it's really not likely, each time he gets hurt, it becomes more of a possibility (at least in my mind). By the way, welcome to the boards.
  17. Ugh, man people are stupid. There's a few good posters on that board, but not many anymore...and the mountain of trash you have to sift through to find the nuggets makes it a waste of time. Obviously, there are many children posting on that forum, as well as many adults who act like children. Is it just me, or is every other thread on there about the Cubs? Even the threads that aren't about the Cubs turn into Cubs threads somehow. Typical thread on Cards Talk: Post 1: Hey, we won again last night. Great game. Post 2: Yeah, our pitching was awesome. Post 3: Kerry Wood is hurt again. Cubs fans are stupid. Pujols is better than Lee. Blah Blah Blah. Post 4: You know who I hate? Cubs fans. They're really stupid. They won't let me post on NSBB. I was going to tell them they suck. It was going to be funny. Post 5: Dude, that would've been an awesome post! They really do suck! NSBB is a bunch of Nazis. They're getting to be like Sox fans... they care more about a Cubs loss than a Cards win. (Not all of them, there are a few good posters left. But that board has gone straight down hill) At least the Cards fans here are actually smart, intelligent baseball fans. They represent the good side of Cardinal fans. And I think I might be the only person left that still believes in Kerry Wood... and Nomar Garciaparra for that matter.
  18. There are plenty of .239 hitters who can draw walks that we could get for much cheaper than Adam Dunn.
  19. Is it just me, or is Dunn a power hitter? I always thought a power hitters job wasn't to draw walks, it was to drive in runs. A guy hitting .239 with almost no sac flies isn't the answer. I like Pierre, and I like Aubrey Huff (although he's been struggling this year, he's starting to turn it around)
  20. Albert Pujols? I haven't been able to make the trip down to St. Louis for a few years now. It kills me everytime too because something always comes up. I have the most important job interview of my life early monday morning (then again, I'm only 23, so every job interview is the most important of my life), so I decided it'd be wise not to head down for the series. I'll keep an eye out for everyone here though. You'll have to make signs that have your NSBB name on them though, cause I don't know what any of you look like.
  21. As you noted, a crappy first couple of weeks at of the gate will do that to you. A good spring and 25 cents will get you a cup of coffee. Maybe. Yeah, I know. My point was that at least we know the ability is still there somewhere. He just has to stay healthy, and swing through that slump he was in.
  22. This is so true. I don't want to get ahead of ourselves, we still have some games before the Cardinal series that are very important, but IF we win up to that point, this series could be the most important series the Cubs have played in a long time. It'll be a deciding factor in how the rest of the season goes. The Cardinals are the best team in baseball (I don't care what the White Sox record is... and as much as it pains me to say it, it's a fact.) If we manage to win the series, momentum will be at a season high, and we can ride that through. If they beat us, it might demoralize our team and drop us back down to mediocrity. So here's hoping the Cubs do their job against Cincy, and then we'll all be on the edge of our seats all weekend in the 100 degree heat. This has the potential to be almost as important as the final series in 2003... Just this Cubs fans opinion though.
  23. Is everyone forgetting the amazing spring training Nomar had? Sure he struggled a little in his regular season games (there weren't that many), but he still has the ability to be a .300 hitter with 20+ home runs. The only question in my mind is can his body handle the stress. If Nomar is healthy, there's no one in our organization I'd rather have starting. Looking for a closer is crap. If that was actually said, then Dempster should be mad. He's been dynamite so far, and I hope he keeps it up. We could use some bullpen help, but with our starting pitching starting to go longer into games, maybe the bullpen won't be so overworked in the second half.
  24. I said Griffey. We tried to Alou experiment already. It was fun for a while, but some of his antics got old. And his lack of defense left a bad taste in my mouth. Griffey, if he's healthy, can still be a very productive player.
