  1. If Grossman were smart, he'd be hitting Des Clark as often as possible. A tight end is a quarterback's best friend. Especially when that QB is struggling.
  2. I'm probably most worried about the speed receivers from New Orleans. We all saw what Steve Smith could do to our secondary last year. I still get worried about the deep ball. And Brees has shown he can throw that when needed.
  3. Favre has also been running for his life the past two years. He's being pressured on almost every play. So while he may know what coverage the defense is in, being pressured like that is bound to lead to mistakes and errant throws. But I do see your point. If I'm in possibly the last year of my career, I wouldn't want to be a babysitter either.
  4. The advantage I think the Bears have against a guy like Bush is their linebacking speed. You probably won't find a faster 3 linebackers than Briggs, Urlacher, and Hillenmeyer. They're very good at working from sideline to sideline.
  5. The Bears seem to have the most problems with power backs instead of the dancing in the backfield guys. I see Deuce as being a bigger threat than Bush for that reason. Bush can cause problems of his own when he's catching passes though, and that's something the Bears need to be cautious of. Brees is going to get his yards, so I think the Bears need to make sure they limit the big plays. That's what the Tampa 2 defense is designed for though, so hopefully they can toughen up on 3rd downs again like they did last week. If they can even get the Saints into a lot of 2nd and long and 3rd and long situations, then I like the Bears odds. That is when the defense just pins it's ears back and shuts down opponents. It's a defense built on speed, so those 5 yard dump off routes will hopefully stay at 5 yards.
  6. There is more to being a quarterback than just how you throw. I'm sure Rodgers has learned a lot about film study, game preparation, defense recognition, etc. Most of the guys that learn from Maddux don't pitch like him. They learn other aspects of the game by watching.
  7. You can say that about quite a few quarterbacks though. Take away Rice, and Montana and Young's numbers changed dramatically. Bad decisions aren't that uncommon among quarterbacks. Favre has how many interceptions in his career? But he's still considered one of the best. And Favre isn't anybody's mentor either. Aaron Rodgers. Bret doesn't walk through everything for him, but I've heard Rodgers say he's learned a lot from Favre. Beat me to it. Rodgers is next in line in Green Bay. I'm sure he's learned from Favre like a lot of guys have learned from Maddux. All you have to do is watch a guy like that, and you will pick up stuff.
  8. Yeah, I do love that we're debating points that really will have no impact on the game whatsoever. Saints offense could have 0 yards on sunday, and the Bears D could give up 600. Any given sunday... Alright, shower time for me.

  10. Among all qualified quarterbacks in NFL history (at least 1,500 passing attempts), Culpepper ranks sixth in passer rating.
  11. Touche, everyone ignore my post then. I only did a half @$$ed search as it was.
  12. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/statistics?stat=team&sort=pts&pos=off&league=nfl&season=2&year=2006 Chicago - 427 New Orleans - 413 Not a huge difference, but it's still a difference. Yes, but as I said, the Bears scored a lot of points on defense and special teams. Not really the offense's doing. According to ESPN, that is offensive scoring. I might be mistaken, but that's what I'm finding on ESPN and NFL.com. EDIT: Actually, you might be right. That might be overall scoring, but if that's the case, then I need to search a little harder next time.

  14. That's funny. Culpepper's been to three pro bowls, has led the league in passing, etc. He's had some success. Harrington... not so much.
  15. That also shows that the Bears are the 4th best team in the league and the Saints are the 8th.
  16. Exactly, our defense was ranked at the top of the league all year until a few injuries and then the throwaway games. They've been worse lately, but the Bears have still only lost 3 games all year, and one of them was a meaningless last game of the regular season. Saints offense was worse in terms of points. You can have all the yards in the world, but if you don't score as much as the opposition, you don't win. This last few games thing is a pointless argument in my opinion. Teams that clinch playoff spots are going to play much differently than teams that are fighting to stay alive. The Saints had to fight to the end. The Bears were basically on cruise control for a while. Much different offensive and defensive schemes.
  17. http://football.about.com/od/nfldraft/a/nfldrafttoppros.htm This was made a little while ago. This guy assumed Brohm was going pro. He has his as the #1 prospect in this years draft. I agree with him if you give him another year. He's got probably the best stuff out of all the QB's out there. And I think he's the most NFL ready.
  18. http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/580/1226138wi4.jpg Still a Saints fan?? OleMissCub is cheating. He knows the Honeybears have been gone for a while. We can't retaliate.
  19. I don't see how there is any way he can move the team now. Not with all the Katrina talk and all that. He'd become public enemy number 1 throughout most of the country. For as much as we don't like to hear about it, the Saints playing in the Superdome was a huge moment for that city. It showed that they were rebuilding, and that the city wasn't gone.
  20. Updated weather forecast for Sunday: Partly sunny. High: 33 degrees. Low: 24 degrees. For those who live in cold weather areas, you all know that you can actually feel the difference between 33 degrees and 26 degrees. So the weather is turning slightly better if you're New Orleans. This will more than likely change again by sunday though.
  21. He's listed as questionable, as usual. However, because Joe Horn knows how much he means to the Saints, and because he knows that this is the biggest game in franchise history, I'd expect him to make every effort to play. The cold certainly won't help the situation though, as he'll have a tough time stretching that hamstring in the cold. Unfortunately, I don't think Joe will be back next year. With the young crop of receivers the Saints have now (Colston, Henderson, and Copper), I'm not sure if the Saints will be picking up Joe's contract, which is worth about 5m a year now. I hope they do though, because he's still such a huge impact player. As a former college track runner with bad hamstrings, I'll be the first to tell you that cold weather and bad hamstrings make for a horrible day. But we'll have to see how he responds. I'm sure he'll do what he can to play, especially knowing that there's a chance this could be his last game as a Saint. And that's just sad. I consider Joe Horn to be one of those guys that needs to retire with his team. He's a Saint, and should always be one. For a while, when I'd think of the Saints, the first player that came to mind was Horn.
  22. Saw yesterday on ESPN yesterday that the Saints weren't sure if Horn would be able to play again this year. I believe he's listed as questionable for now.
  23. It doesn't matter where my expectations are, I'll be more than upset with a loss. That being said, my expectations are through the roof. I like building myself up for a huge downfall. I'm the same way. Without the horrible lows, we'd never be able to fully appreciate the tremendous highs. Go Bears.
  24. Which is very likely somewhere in the second round, if not early third. I think he'd be fighting Ainge (and probably one or two others, not sure about next year's QB class) for the first QB taken if he left next year. Brohm, Henne, and I think Booty if he's eligible. Many thanks, I forgot about them. Still think Brennan or Ainge, assuming a repeat, can go ahead of them. Of course, it's moot for Brennan now. I don't think Brennan or Ainge could have topped Booty next season if they all had similar seasons. Or Brohm if he has a decent year with his new coach.
