  1. I'll see your New Orleans psychic and raise you a Chicago psychic. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/bears/215577,CST-SPT-vside18.article Hmm.. "Freeze New Orleans" Do as she says! We have to counter the voodoo mojo put on us by the New Orleans psychic!
  2. Really? Horn actually might play? I know his presence on the field alone causes problems, but do you think he'll be as effective not at 100%? Either way, that puts a hitch in the Bears defensive plans. Well there were several rumors coming from anonymous players that Horn wasn't as injured as the Saints front office made him out to be. Hmm, he's still missed their last 5 games, so they couldn't have been blowing it that far out of proportion. Unless they really don't want him on the field.

  4. 1) THE BIG PLAY!!! -The Redskins had 2 30+ yard passes. -The Cowboys had a 77 yard run, and 2 30+ yard passes, including a 50 yard TD bomb to Glenn. -The Giants had a 55 yard TD pass. -The Eagles had a 62 yard run and a 75 yard pass. -The 49ers had a 48 yard TD pass. -The Falcons had a 51 yard rush and a 44 yard pass. -The Bengals had a 60 yard TD pass. -The Steelers had a 76 yard run and a 3 30+ yard passes. -Tampa Bay had a 44 yard TD pass. -Earlier in the season the Eagles had a 60 yard TD pass and a 40 yard pass. -The Bucs had a 52 yard TD pass and a 34 yard run. -Panthers had a 43 yard TD run and another 31 yard run. -Packers had a 48 yard TD pass. 2) The secondary is extremely suspect. They have good moments, but overall are average or below average. McKenzie is probably the best DB we have, with Thomas being the weakest. The injury of our strong safety Stoutmire hurts us even greater. So, rest assured, y'all will most definitely get one, or two, or three big plays. I have no complaints on the offensive side of the ball. Berrian... fly pattern.... all game long! If it works twice, we're in damn good shape.
  5. Oh, Benson is the guy that definitely should be used on 3rd downs. He rarely goes down on first contact, and he's not the all or nothing back that Jones is. And you might be right about Benson, but Jones has become outstanding at picking up blitzes, so I think he might have the edge there. Don't get me wrong, Benson will be the premier back in the future, probably even next year. But Jones has done a lot this year that goes unnoticed. Hell, just look at how many 3rd and 20's he's gotten them out of. I know of 2 or 3 just off the top of my head. And for a running back taking a handoff or catching a screen, 20+ yards in big 3rd and long situations is huge.
  6. Eh, they're different types of backs, and they should be used in different situations. Jones has earned the starting spot though, so I don't see how everyone still is fighting for Benson to get it. Jones quietly ran for 1200 yards, and is a much better at picking up the blitz on passing downs. Benson is the bruiser of the two, and should be used in up the middle situations and occasionally on stretch plays so he doesn't become one dimensional. Just my opinion though, I know others feel differently.
  7. And I also keep hearing about how the Eagles had the 2nd or 3rd best offense this year, but how much of that happened before they lost their starting quarterback? They were still a good team with Garcia, but without McNabb, you didn't beat the same offense that you'd have seen with him in there.
  8. The Bears have been playing throwaway games for quite some time. When you already clinch the playoffs, and are pretty much a shoe in for home field advantage, you're not going to run your full offensive and defensive schemes. Why would you show your hand when it's not necessary? Its like playing in the preseason. You may be playing your starters, but they're not running the same plays or coverages they normally would for the whole game. Why give the scouts something to write about and something to prepare for? It's the same reason Denny Green thought the Bears were bad, because when he saw them in preseason, they were running a grade school offense. And just to point out, thinking the Saints have a better defense than the Bears is completely insane. Especially when they're ranked 5th in YPG, 3rd in Points per game, and 2nd in DVOA while the Saints are 11th in YPG, 13 in PPG, and 19th in DVOA. There really is no comparison.
  9. Also, ESPN's list of underclassman entering the draft. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft07/news/story?id=2724623
  10. Colt Brennan withdraws from the 2007 draft. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2734347
  11. Haha, this link was just forwarded to me by a Saints fan asking if this is what all Bears fan are like...
  12. Reminds me of the 2003 Cubs NL Champions t-shirts. They were being sold as "novelty" t-shirts outside the stadium after game 7. This town definitely knows how to jinx things.
  13. People underestimate the fact that the Bears players LIVE in this weather. While they may not practice in it, or have played few games in it, their bodies are most adjusted to the cold, and they can handle it better. Their everyday lives revolve around the cold, so this will help them. Will it decide the game though? Doubtful.
  14. Pretty funny what one guy coming back can do. ESPN listed Louisville as 25th for 2007, but that's when they assumed Brohm was leaving. I understand that two different guys are making these polls, but that's a pretty drastic difference (4th and 25th)
  15. Bandwagon fans generally don't have the knowledge of the team that you do. You won't hear me call you a bandwagoner.
  16. Accuweather.com's up to date daily forecast for sunday: High temp: 31 degrees. Low temp: 20 degress. Periods of clouds and sun. Fox news at noon's forecast called for a high of 28 degrees, with possible light snow around gametime. It'll probably be mid to high 20's, with a slight breeze making the windchill in the teens.
  17. Channel 212 for Directv. I wish I could watch it though. We had guys on the roof of our condo fixing a few problems caused by animals, and one of them decided it'd be a good idea to mess with our satellite dish. So now we have to wait for the Directv people to come fix it. Normally we'd go up there, but after all the freezing rain there's a nice layer of ice up there. I don't feel like falling 4 stories onto a parking lot trying to get my tv back up and running. And you call yourself a fan. Let me put it this way, it took me about 45 minutes just to get enough ice off the windshield of my truck so I could drive it yesterday. If it were for a game I haven't seen, I'd gladly risk it. With NFL on 24/7, the channel shows this sort of stuff all day. I have no doubt it will be on at least 5-6 more times before the Bears/Saints game. Yeah, I just hope we get our dish fixed by then, otherwise I'll be watching the game from one of the many watering holes around here.

  19. Did they really? Seems a bit extreme if you ask me. That song is a part of the south. The flag is one thing, but the changing the song is going a bit overboard if you ask me. What's next, making them dump the Rebel as a mascot?
  20. Wow, consider me not reassured at all because of that article. Yeah, his reasons are kind of flimsy. But at least someone at ESPN isn't comparing the Bears to a bunch of devil worshipers that enjoy clubbing baby seals while beating up the Easter bunny.

  22. John Clayton picks the Bears. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs06/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=2733790 Gives his top five reasons why.
  23. I'm not a fan of the orange unis. Bring on the darks...
  24. At this point, the hay is in the barn. Rest is more important that practicing your blocking, pass routes, etc. If you don't know how to do those things by this point in the season, you aren't going to learn it now. Rest is most important to a lot of these guys. They've already played the Pats, they know what to expect. The next few days will just be game preparation and brushing up on what the Patriots might throw at them.
