  2. Catchers are tough. I'm not too worried about it. Though I do hope it heals quckly.
  3. Finally, after years and years of clamoring for young kids instead of washed-up, overpaid veterans, we finally got our wish. And I love the results. Murton rocks, Cedeno could be one of the best top of the order hitters in the league in a few years. That kid can flat-out FLY. Marshall is doing ok and looks to only get better, Guzman making his start today... See, Dusty? You don't need 38-year-old veterans to win.
  4. I'll be completely, totally, 100% happy once they don't rip my heart out and stomp on it. Win a championship and people will have very short memories.
  5. I've learned not to get my hopes up with this team.
  6. At Wrigley the Cubs haven't done much against the D-Train. He's 2-0 with a 1.01 ERA in his career. Frankly, I don't care if they beat him or their bullpen. Just win. I love the Cubs Huh. I thought we hit Willis pretty well.
  7. Gotta disagree there. They seemed like they gave up the last 2 months or so last year and just went through the motions.
  8. At least something positive came out of the Nomar trade. I do miss Nomar, though. :( You mean the Murton trade? To be fair, he reeked of "throw in" to me when we traded for him. I remember the day we traded for Nomar. I heard of this Murton kid and wondered "Why would Theo give up a kid like this that's hit so well at every level?" But, I think he'll be a cornerstone for years to come, and I couldn't be happier. That won't matter to fans when he is an all star. It doesn't matter to me, either.

  11. It was me. I was at work and missed the whole game minus the last 3 outs. So it was me.
  12. Seemed familiar, didn't it? A team up 3-0 in the bottom of the 8th with the starter mowing down the opposition, and then the bottom falls out.
  13. If/when we get rid of Jones, then I'd be all for an extension. But not until.
  14. I think this is just what we need. In situations such as we're in right now, the vets need to step up. Maddux has risen to the challenge. Z needs to follow, and hopefully everyone else will fall into place.
  15. This is his first year starting every day. Pretty much every pitcher he sees he hasn't seen before. I'm not worried.
  16. That Bruce can multi task with the best of them. Maybe he could get a hit with RISP, too.
  17. haha. maddux was like, "forget that, i ain't runnin' no where. someone bring my glove out to me. the dugout is too far away." That's always been a pet peeve of mine. Even though you hit a routine grounder, you should still run hard. Always. Period. No matter who you are.
  18. LOL, I hadn't really thought about it but since you asked it is kinda sad... How much of a "breakthrough" is it to add an extra razor?
  19. Don't hurt yourself running there, Greg.
  20. I think if they can get over the initial shock of DLee going down, they'll be ok. Start Hairston at 2nd, Walker at 1st, and you should be ok. That lineup doesn't have a lot of power, but it could drive you crazy with Pierre/Hairston/Walker or Pierre/Cedeno/Walker as your top 3. Speed and contact the first 3 batters setting the table for Aram, Barrett, and Murton, with Ronny Cedeno/Jerry Hairston down at the bottom hitting like crazy and wreaking havoc with his speed. We'd be ok if the pitching held up. Yes, this is Erik being optimistic. Mark it on the calendar. It may not happen again for a while.
  21. I don't think a move for Cabrera at this point would be wise. Now, before you trace my IP address and come after me with torches and pitchforks, let me tell you why... Right now, we're desperate. Every team in the league knows that if Jim tests the waters, he'd be willing to pay far more than he would otherwise. It would cost us far more than it normally would to get Cabrera. It would cost about the price of Cabrera and Willis just to get Miguel here. If we get Cabrera, we can say goodbye to our farm system. He's just not worth it. Stick it out for a few weeks yet and then re-evaluate. But anything at this point would be a quick fix, and a knee-jerk reaction.
  22. This is where someone needs to make them care. I don't think Hendry will make a big trade, because we'd only have the person for a few months, and there are no suitable partners right now. We just need a few close, hard-fought wins and we'll be ok. Assuming we get those wins, of course.
  23. I don't think we need a "blockbuster" trade. This team can be ignited. I say one of the kids (Murton or Cedeno) gets super hot and acts as a motivator. How many times have you seen a team get really hot because of the great play of one of the younger players? One of those guys needs to play like his life is on the line every game. The others will follow. Stuff like that is contagious. Or we need a manager who is good at motivation. Dusty has proven he's not that manager.
  24. Yes. I hope I'm wrong, my friend, but I don't think I am.
  25. Is it too early to say "Wait till next year?"
