  1. I always liked Downs for whatever reason.
  2. D-Rays top prospect, and one of the top propsects in all of baseball. People are talking multiple all-star appearences for this kid. And I don't know if there will be a video. It's a minor league game, where not everything is telecast. The best we could hope for is a shaky video camera shot.
  3. How far away is Prior yet?
  4. I can't envision at all in my head what this looks like. An underhand flip doesn't sound as bad. I was imagining him rearing back and throwing his bat at the ump with all his might.
  5. I wonder what the suspension is for an incident like this. This is one of those times where being a superstar helps. "Random Bench Spaz throwing bat at umpire" would result in probably a blacklist from the game. But "Potential future AL all-star Delmon Young" will get a big suspension and fine, but will play again.
  6. Could you throw that argument Jim Hendry's way also? I still don't understand that signing. Burnitz' fielding wasn't THAT bad. I was never the biggest Burnitz fan, but I'd take him any day over Jacques.
  7. SportsCenter just reported Delmon Young threw a bat into the chest of an umpire after a contested strike 3 call in a AAA game tonight. Yeah, he's in deep crap. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2423307
  8. Total and complete bullcrap. Where was this philosophy other times, when hitters (Dubois, Walker) were platooned ad nauseum?
  9. Neither one of them impress me as a player who would do well as a Cub - certainly not to justify the expense. But if Hendry had to spend too much money on a FORMER Marlin, I wish he had opened the checkbook wide for Luis Castillo. I don't think the Cubs would have needed Pierre in that case (if they do now), and for the amount Hendry overpaid for Pierre and that puzzling JJ signing, getting Castillo instead would have been well worth the extra dough. The biggest problem would be how to kick Neifury to the curb - $2 mil for 2 years was one heck of an insurance policy for a Cub middle IF. JMO. I know, no way in H-E-double hockey stix the Cubs are able to trade for him... Actually, that's one deal I might consider giving the Twinkies a second shot at Prior for. You'd trade Prior for Castillo?
  10. Pierre cut down stealing. Good throw.
  11. Looks like Gooz is gonna go 1 more inning.
  12. Wouldn't a Walker GG be funnier than heck? (Not at the expense of Lee out, though.) Yeah, because as I recall, Walker is absolutely brutal on defense. :eyeroll:
  13. Walker's pretty good over there at 1st.
  14. LOL, me too. Pujols wins the game in the bottom of the 9th. That guy is gonna win the Triple Crown this year. He's just unreal. Last night on BT Gammons, et al, were discussing teams pitching around Pujols, it starting and, until Edmonds or Rolen start swinging consistently, were going to see more and more pitching around Pujols. At the moment the Cards are basically a one man team, Pujols with what, 35% or so, of their RBI's? If he goes down, they're done... One of those guys has to heat it up sooner or later, then Pujols will REALLY heat it up. That guy is so good it's scary. And of all teams, he has to be on the Cardinals.
  15. Agreed Hairy sits tomorrow You mean Friday. Which means we get NEIFURY in the opener against the Brewers.
  16. Santo getting all over Hairston for that steal. That's twice he's gotten lucky now.
  17. LOL, me too. Pujols wins the game in the bottom of the 9th. That guy is gonna win the Triple Crown this year. He's just unreal.
  18. Game is tied on a throwing error into the dugout! Thought it was 2. That was a gift, but I'll take it.
  19. Jerry tried to hit that one to Indiana.
  20. Or not. He walks. Up to Hairston. How's he been hitting?
  21. Murton should get a meatball right here on 3-0. Hope he drives it.
  22. 2 walks. Man, would I love to see Matty make it 4-3 here.
