  1. You have a lot of free time. No, when you get to be his age, you'll be filled with just as much useless info. I kid. It wouldn't be a game thread without Fred's stats.
  2. Of all the Cubs tonight, who would have thought Jones would get the first hit?
  3. So if the Cubs DO get no-hit tonight, how much do I get for calling it? edit: Nevermind.
  4. Dude clogs the bases. That's why he's not a Cub anymore.
  5. If they do, everyone should chip in and give me a free year of premium because I called it.
  6. Yeah. I remember the first sweep... Maddux, Mitre, & Rusch. Same goes for the second series, but I believe one of them we lost. Wasn't the first one the one where Sammy strained his back sneezing? I remember that game. I graduated that day.
  7. I remember a time in the early 90's where the Cubs got shut out 4 games in a row.
  8. I retiterate my earlier statement that there's a better than 50% chance we get no-hit.
  9. A mediocre college team could beat this team right now.
  10. With a $100 million budget, we CAN be players in the FA market. It's just when Nefi gets 5 million for 2 years, and Jacque Jones gets 16 for 3, it limits what you can do.
  11. There's a bettter than 50% chance we get no-hit.
  12. To paraphrase Casablanca: "This looks like the beginning of a pitiful losing streak."
  13. "Hey Jose, you're starting at 2nd today." "But, my name is Freddy" "Anything you say, Jose. Now go take batting practice...... Jose."
  14. Hasn't there been a time in your life where you just said "Ok, that's it. I've had enough?" That's what happened with him. And with the Royals performances over the last 10 years or so , I can't really say I balme him at all.
  15. Admittedly I haven't see him run much this year, since he's never even getting on base. But from the sounds of the game the other day, and the couple I have see recently, he is running hard. He's just slow. I thought he loafed sometime last week. I could be wrong, though.
  16. I can handle Aram being in a slump. It happens to everyone. He'll snap out of it sooner or later. The thing I have a problem with is when he loafs on the bases. It breeds a lazy attitude, and it spreads to other people. Lack of hustle is really my biggest pet peeve at any time, IMO. If it was up to me, my players would run hard all the time, or I'd find someone else who would. Even if it's the most routine ground ball you've ever hit in your life, you should be sprinting down to first base.
  17. I know Guzman has only had two starts, but they were against two of the worst teams in baseball. He looked unimpressive (if not downright bad) in both of them. And it's not like the lineups (outside of Miguel Cabrera and Jason Bay) were all that tough. I like the kid. He's got electirc stuff, but he can't control it. I think he'll be an effective starter one day, but today is not that day. He needs more time, period.
  18. he couldnt have been suffering for 25 years, KC won it all in 1985 Haha! High standards... True, but the sad fact is this.... The Royals have won a championship in my lifetime. The Cubs have not.
  19. The Cubs have made a name for themselves losing games that they "should" win.
  20. Dusty is too concerned with being everyone's friend than he is with acutally "managing."
  21. Curse of the Babe? Wouldn't it be poetic if he hits 713, then blows out his knee again and has to retire?
