  1. I'll probably be moving this summer into a house. At least I won't have to worry about getting the cable hookup ready so I can watch the game. I'll have better things to do.
  2. Geez. It's bad when even Ronny is getting down on them.
  3. Right now, the lowly Royals would win 2 of 3 from us. At least.
  4. The Cubs won't get him. Why? They're the Cubs. If we would get him, we'd vastly overpay. If we didn't vastly overpay and actually got him for a decent price, he'd get "Mark Prior and Kerry Wood" syndrome and spend 4 months every year on the DL. Why? Because they're the Cubs.
  5. As I've said before, any change in the organization is going to have to come from high up on the Tribune. MacPhail won't do anything to Hendry. Hendry won't do anything to Baker. Baker won't do anything to the players. The change is going to have to come from over MacPhail's head.
  6. It was funny seeing Barrett punch AJP, though.
  7. It's his first full year in the lineup. Cut him some slack. He may be trying to do too much, because God knows the rest of these losers can't hit.
  8. Neifi, I'm not wishing death on you, but please get injured for the rest of the year. You are, without a doubt, THE most useless player I have ever seen. And this includes Jose Macias.
  9. I forgot what one of those felt like. It's been so long.
  10. Gotta love that sub 500 OPS too! Worth every penny!
  11. Maybe it's just me, but was it REALLY that hard to find a guy who can lob meatballs lefthanded? How many ex-high school and college players are there in the greater Chicago area? And how many of them would love to throw to Aramis Ramirez, Todd Walker, etc? Was this REALLY that difficult?
  12. Some of the blame has to be shifted to Dusty for not stressing fundimentals. We had this problem last year, and during the collapse in 2004.
  13. Seconded It's just stupidity. You're learn in little league that when the ball is hit in the air you need to make sure it falls before you run. Just think about that. There are thousands of 9 year olds that run the bases better than Jacque Jones. And the old argument from last year about lack of basic fundimentals pops up.
  14. Hey Jacque, I've got a tip for you. Don't want the fans to boo? Don't suck.
  15. Kick the bad men out, Mr. Umpire. They're saying bad things about my mama!
  16. One thing I've noticed about Baker. He'll never preemptively have the bullpen warming up in these situations. He always waits until the first sign of trouble and usually doesn't pull the pitcher until it's too late. Baker is reactive rather than proactive. perhaps it's a show of confidence in z??? the guy's quite proven. no need to be pessimistic. You know Z is at 100 pitches. You know you have one of the best bullpens in the league. It is inexcusable to not have somebody warming up just in case. It's not pessimism. It's called being prepared. it's called ticking an all star pitcher off. It's called winning games. It's called needlessly abusing your best pitcher.
  17. But that might hurt his feelings and then he won't play as well.
  18. Let's compare, shall we? 2003 Marlins: Good 2005 Astros: Good 2006 Cubs: Not good.
  19. The Marlins? Right now, at this very minute, I'm convinced that the Marlins, Royals, and Pirates would beat us at least 2 of 3, home or away.
  20. Looking to next year already? Can't say I blame you.
  21. This team does not even belong in the major leagues right now. I'd bet every penny I have that the best AAA team could beat the Cubs 2 of 3.
  22. Well, if you're gonna suck, you may as well go all out.
  23. At least we'll have a cleanup hitter now.
  24. Because if you haven't noticed we haven't been exactly scoring runs lately, so dusty has to try to get runs anyway you can. I have no problem with that play. They haven't been scoring runs partly because Dusty makes it harder to score by giving up runs. They've been pulling this crap throughout the whole slump, it's not going to make things different. Oh c'mon! You are blaming Dusty for the Cubs not scoring runs? I'm not the biggest Baker fan, but c'mon! We can't score runs because our guys can't get a hit when it counts. But when the manager keeps giving the other team outs, it lessens our chances of scoring, does it not?
