    Damn, Yost's bullpen is going to be in shambles. He was far too careless in the extra innings in "playing the percentages" and burning through his pen. That's really going to bite him in the ass later this week.

    One big thing about the Brewers team is that they have just about everyone bunt. It's part of the reason they're a first place team. Sound fundamentals. You never would have had that with a Dusty Baker team.

    That's right. I forgot. You're only allowed to work on one trade at a time. So if they are talking to the Rangers about Gagne, they can't talk about a trade with anybody else. There's no need to waste chips on Gagne. It's not about wasting valuable trade talking time, it's about wasting resources on acquiring him. I think what is lost on many people is the possibility that an acquisition like Gagne or Silva opens up chips that small market teams want but the Cubs aren't currently willing to trade. you pick up Gagne and Silva, and all of a sudden you can make Hill and Marmol available in a package with Murton for that big bat we are all hoping for. It would have to be one hell of a big bat to part with Hill or Marmol. Marmol has shown flashes of being a potential all-star closer, and Hill is a very solid #2 starter.

    That sounds nice :D I'm going to Wrigley on Friday, too. I'd mark almost as hard as when we got Nomar if Sammy came back today.

    All I read is that he would have to be consulted if he were to be traded to Boston. That is weird, I thought people want to goto Boston. Similarly, he wouldn't have to be consulted for a trade to Milwaukee. That is weird, I didn't think people wanted to goto Milwaukee Hell, I live 45 minutes west and I don't want to go to Milwaukee.

    So why was the trade deadline moved back to 3pm from Midnight EST like it used to be? More media coverage? I always liked waking up on the morning of my birthday (tomorrow) and turning on SportsCenter to be informed of all the big trades that went down at the 11th hour.

    Going back to the start of the hot streak (day after Lou's ejection and suspension) I believe the Cubs have the best record in all of baseball, not just the NL. Is it fair to say that this isn't a hot streak anymore, the Cubs are just good? It has been almost 2 months. And they flat-out sucked for 2 months, so which Cubs team is the real one?

    agreed. Teixeira is the only name really out there right now. Heck, even rotoworld has like two updates in the past 24 hours (that aren't injury related). LAME And I hate this stupid 3 pm deadline thing. Make it midnight EST like it always used to be!

    We MAY be able to win this division by standing pat offensively, but I can guaran-damn-tee you that we won't get very far in the playoffs without another big bat.

    Any time the question is "Is Jim Hendry really that stupid?" the answer is always "yes." He had all winter to sign Z long-term and he dicked around doing that... what makes you think this is going to be any different?
