  1. I think if we gave him $20 million and part ownership of the team he'd bite. Steinbrenner won't give him part of the Yankees.
  2. Good. Hopefully the Cubs get KC instead. I'm always irritated that the Cards get 2 series against KC each year. Actually, I think the Cubs are slated to face the AL East this year, but for some reason sometimes odd matchups out of those divisions happen. I am almost positive that we will see the Cubs make a trip to Fenway and Tampa Bay while they will also host the Orioles as none of these 3 events has occured in interleague play yet. i can confirm that the cubs are going to tampa...as i said in some other thread a few days back...i had an interview there and i asked and i was told... yes...the cubbies are coming to tropicana next season...preliminary schedule so i wasn't able to get dates... Yeah, if the play the Red Sox it'll be at Fenway as it was in Wrigley last time. I think the Yanks would be in Wrigley if we played them, as we went to New York last time.
  3. Chip and Steve were a very good team in the booth.
  4. He wasn't that bad. It took me a while to get used to him in '98, but once he got comfortable in the booth and stopped trying to be Harry, he was fine.
  5. Froemming is a fat piece of crap and I hope he gets what's coming to him.
  6. I don't know.... 30 million a year? I'm all for giving him a chunk of the team, but that salary at that age for that long....yikes.
  7. I'm thinking one of these years the Cubs will have to play a season on the road while Wrigley is completely renovated. Probably split the "home" games between Milwaukee and US Celluar. I can't see any ownership group just tearing Wrigley down and building anew somewhere else.
  8. Seal the cement, redo the field, upgrade the facilities, and the easiest problem to fix is probably the food. They need to fix the field and the concrete, but what really needs to be done is to simply gut the place and expand the clubhouses, replace the bathrooms, etc. Yes. I'm tired of peeing in a trough.
  9. Very classy. I can't say I'd have done the same if the Cardinals were fighting for the division. Thank you for your good wishes. We certainly need them. On a side note, It made me happy to put the dagger in the Cardinals for this year.
  10. Truly funny, silly stuff. Yep, all players with 101 RBI are exactly as good as each other, OBP, OPS etc doesn't matter... you caught me. We should just sort all players by RBI and then you have the best to worst players. I guess I fail to see what you found silly about the post, one liners almost always fail to convey anything useful so its not too surprising. Well the simplist case is someone like Geoff Jenkins who stinks vs lefties and has to face them a lot with RISP (or at least did before he started platooning) thus skewing their numbers. But still, just by logic, if it is possible to be anti-clutch and be noticably worse in "clutch" situations, then it is possible to be "clutch" and perform better in those "clutch" situations.
  11. Is he serious? What luck! We haven't won squat in almost 100 years! Gimme a flippin' break!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't let it bother you. That's just frustration. Their team save for their hot start hasn't done squat. Exactly. We'd be saying the same crap if things were flipped around. The Brewers started the year and looked like they were going to go to the playoffs for the first time in a long time. Can't really blame fans for getting upset and frustrated about losing a big lead in the division and not being able to capitalize in this crappy division. But they do have a bright future. They are going to be a handful in the coming years. Agreed. We haven't heard the last of the Brewers.
  12. I don't see how a player can be "anti-clutch", but then you just spent all that time arguing how a player can't be clutch. So it's not possible to be clutch, but one can be anti-clutch? Doesn't make sense to me.
  13. You are really not supposed to do anything but pray at synagogue and ask for forgiveness from God but I'll admit I watched the Cubs. :) Pray for forgiveness and hope God is a Cubs fan.
  14. Brewer's lineup: Weeks 2B Hardy SS Braun 3B Fielder 1B Hart RF Jenkins LF Estrada C Hall CF Gallardo (sp?) P
  15. Gee, Dempster giving up a home run in a non-save situation? Well blow me down!
  16. Yes. The magic number is any combination of Cubs wins and Brewers losses. When/if it reaches zero, the Cubs win the division. So what happens if the Brewers lose this afternoon? Six? Yes.
  17. Yes. The magic number is any combination of Cubs wins and Brewers losses needed for the Cubs to win the divisioin.
  18. Plus, it is a non-save situation, bring in Wuertz, Piggy, or Gallagher for this inning. I really do not understand this move. I think Lou is on crack.
  19. Sam Fuld gets to be on base when the great Geovany Soto comes to the plate. He should feel fortunate.
  20. The perfect ending would be Fuld going deep.
  21. 9-4 Cubs, runner at 3rd. Come on.
  22. I wonder how many baseballs are in there.
  23. +1 I want to. God, but do I want to believe. I just can't let myself get hurt again. :(
