  1. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like the umpiring all over baseball has been far worse this year than in past years.
  2. Finally out of the inning. Get it back, boys.
  3. They'll come around. I'd rather the offense go into the tank now rather than sometime in October. Get it all out now.
  4. We should be beating Arroyo like he's a Pirate.
  5. Crap. Nice play, DeRo, but the run scores.
  6. Come on, Kepp. Do your best DLee impersonation.
  7. The guy he used to be 2 weeks ago and probably will be again next week? Hes streaky. Always has been, always will be. Sammy was, too. Who is better when red hot? Soriano now or Sammy in his prime?
  8. I know the bats couldn't have possibly kept up the torrid pace of the last 3 weeks or so, but 1 run off of a guy with Arroyo's line is inexcusable. I'm talking about his line tonight So am I.
  9. I know the bats couldn't have possibly kept up the torrid pace of the last 3 weeks or so, but 1 run off of a guy with Arroyo's line is inexcusable.
  10. ?? Nevermind. I had another brain fart. I was thinking of someone else. We should still be pounding Arroyo, though. I gotta lay off the sauce. Nah, you're just building up tolerance for your upcoming October bender (the fun kind, not the drown-your-sorrows kind) Either way, I'm getting falling-down piss drunk in October one way or the other.

  12. Oh ye of little faith.... The Cubs are gonna win today, just like the song says.
  13. More than 1 run off of a guy who hasn't even been in the bigs for a week and a half yet would be nice, guys.
  14. What's an "internet?" I could be wrong, but I believe it's an old, old wooden ship, used during the Civil War era. Can Fred confirm this?
  15. I'm reminded of all the garbage pitchers who turned into Cy Young when they faced Dusty Baker's Cubs. I wonder how long this proven winner of a manager can get paid before people see a common denominator between Dusty and his pathetic, Bondsless offenses. He needs his horses. I have a feeling a lot of managers could look good if they had a .600 OBP 73-HR behemoth to slide into their lineup. Yeah, I also think a lot of guys would have done pretty well with a rotation of Wood, Prior, Clement, and Z. While they were all healthy. Inspite of himself, he did alright. That season, at least. He gets credit for being at the helm of the Cubs' deepest playoff run of the modern era. 5 outs from a Cubs Ws appearance, 9 outs from a Giants WS victory - proven winner, dude! But he blew both of those games horribly. Dusty isn't totally at fault for Game 6, but he holds a good share of the blame.
  16. Stupid names for home runs: Dinger, Tater, etc Steve Berthiaume saying "Fill thine horn with oil, and go" But then again, we could go another 30 pages on ESPN things that tick us off. I actually liked "say hello to my little friend" the first time I heard it as a HR call. The only time Kenny Mayne has even slightly amused me is when he shouted "I am the finest player in ALL the land!" when someone hit a homer. Baseball pet peeve and overall life pet peeve: Kenny Mayne. That wasn't Kenny Mayne (at least not originally). The first was Steve Berthiaume. Nah it was Mayne. No, it was Berthiaume. Unless the preface to bring me your finest meats and cheeses was slightly different, it was Mayne. Steve Berhiaume needs to get polio and the vaccine needs to be destroyed. I think there's confusion. The Scarface line was from Berthiaume. Maybe erik didn't mean to quote me when he started talking Mayne, but I thought he was saying that the Scarface quote was from Mayne, too. If he didn't meant to imply that Mayne said the scarface line, I don't know why he quoted me. Yeah, I thought it was Mayne when I quoted you.
  17. Eric Davis, Chris Sabo, and Candy Maldanado will all homer. Oh, wait, Lieber isn't pitching. Nevermind. I don't think that 5 of 6 on this homestand is unreasonable. We can handle the Dunn-less Reds, and Washington is beyond horrible. This should be cake.
  18. A Championship should be the goal. Thanks captain obvious. Anytime
  19. Whoever said it first, my point still stands: Kenny Mayne sucks.
