  1. Hell, I remember when air was clean and sex was dirty. it's amazing you remember anything at your age ZING!!
  2. oh yeah they did Yes, I can vouch for this. The Ramirez/Lofton trade was met with a lot of mixed emotions and the overall tone at the time was negative. The Lofton part of the trade excited me at the time. I sure don't remember any mixed emotions. It seems to me that everyone (including the writers) thought that the Cubs were the big winners in the deal. This is right. Everyone thought the Cubs got a good deal, but some were simultaneously upset at what had become of the 2B situation(Hill never getting a legitimate shot). No one thought "I can't believe we're giving up Bobby Hill for just Ramirez and Lofton". I remember when Kelton, Montanez, Hill, and Choi were the "Infield of the Future"
  3. I don't blame either. I blame the Cubs for playing like crap when it mattered most.
  4. What do you mean, You people? What do YOU mean, "you people?"
  5. probably a package centered around hidalgo. Think they'd want Teahen, too?
  6. If we don't have enough to get Peavy, whom the Padres pretty much have to trade, we certainly won't get Halladay.
  7. Or he just knows they will be cheaper And not as good.
  8. Hendry must not be very interested in or optimistic that we'll sign Bradley or Ibanez if he's looking to trade for Teahen or DeJesus.
  9. It's easy to forget he made the All-Star game with the Marlins way back in the beginning of the decade. Only two above-average years in his career.
  10. Speaking of that, here's one unnamed executive who believes that Dempster will sign this deal: The rumor from this article is that the Yankees are prepared to offer Burnett 5 years, 80 million. http://www.nypost.com/seven/11182008/sports/yankees/yankees_prepare_a_j__offer_139209.htm I'm pretty sure I'd rather go 5/80 with Burnett than 4/52 with Dempster. I dunno. You think Burnett's risk of injury is less than Dempster's risk of suckitude? They're both pretty yucky looking deals. I'd rather give that money to Lowe, myself.
  11. Are you serious? That's just sad in itself. Hell, if she can get hitters out at this level, sign her up.
  12. I've never been a big fan of giving a career underachiever a big contract based on a great contract year. More often than not you end up regretting it.
  13. Haven't seen too many sidearm knucklers thrown before.
  14. Here's the article if anyone is interested... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3708124
  15. Most likely. The Cubs just don't have the talent to get this done without completely raping their farm system.
  16. Can we post amusing pictures of Mr. Peavy? After all, it would be on-topic. ;)
  17. IBL. Vance is going to get on the Mod's Poop list really quick
  18. Jake would already fit right in in Chicago... http://msti.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/peavy-goat.jpg
  19. How about a picture of Jake Peavy drinking? http://static.flickr.com/114/297451783_da2ec588d9.jpg Better bring that bottle with you if you come to Chicago, Jake.
  20. Ok its gotta be either modzilla or fred. Theyre lurking.
  21. Not what I thought and I am a little shocked. It doesn't surprise me, really. Supposedly a deal has been "worked out" for a while now, but not one single credible news source picked up on it. Like someone upthread said, if you trade for a guy a year removed from a Cy Young, one of the top 5 pitchers in the league, you let your fanbase know.
  22. Tell your boss to chill the hell out. If he's going to post on the internet, people are going to ask questions. It's human nature. If he doesn't like it, he can take his little website off of the net. He didn't post anything on the internet. He sent me an email. How about this, if it comes true, you all can kiss my ass. if it doesn't, i will never quote my boss again. deal? hahaaha Yeah, I don't think Chad will be lasting too long here. Some people take the internet way too seriously.
