  1. Young sucks. Not against us. Cubs pitcher: Hrm... This guy hit a 450-foot homer on a fastball last AB, but looked silly on breaking stuff. What should I throw him? (Looks into the catcher?) The deuce? Nah. Hrmm.... I know! I'll blow him away with a fastball!!! (gives himself whiplash looking at the monster HR onto Waveland)
  2. I do think he's right in the fact that we'll miss DeRo more than we know. The guy can play just about anywhere, and has a pretty good bat. Guys like that are worth their weight in gold. They give you lots of options for trades and FA signings as you can sign just about anyone you want and move the versatile guy to another position. I want Peavy here, and I think DeRo is worth trading to get him, but how do we replace DeRo? Guys like that aren't as common as one would think.
  3. Maybe hes involved in the sweaty 3 way. *rimshot*
  4. Build a park so big that it can hold the result of a Bob Howry fastball. Yellowstone?
  5. :-k , looks at his name... :-)) It's OK...I'm originally from Chicago. I lived 3 blocks from Wrigley until about a year ago when I moved out here. Miss the city...not the weather. It's 70 here today... \:D/ I hate you
  6. Would have liked to get in on the Lowe or Burnett action if we didn't land Peavy, but it looks like those two will be gone by the time the Peavy thing is settled one way or the other. So, it pretty much seems like Peavy or bust for any rotation upgrade. Or Sheets, I guess, but that seems pretty unlikely to me.
  7. I was just out shoveling, and now I'm all sweaty.
  8. Who do you think the Brewers traded to get Sabathia in the first place? They traded LaPorta. What I was saying is that the player they traded away (LaPorta) will be quite good one day, but some other players in their farm that they didn't trade will also be quite good, so the loss isn't quite as catostrophic for them as it would be for us.
  9. Unlike us, though, the Brewers farm system is loaded. LaPorta will be very good one day, but they've got plenty others in the minors that'll be good too.
  10. jesus christ that's a lot of money He'll be in twinkies for the rest of his life.
  11. The thread title should be changed. The deal is 7/160 per ESPN.
  12. Good luck, Kerry. I hope you come back when your contract is up.
  13. Winner. Yeah guys! Stop complaining or we might not get Peavy!
  14. if you have everybody on ignore, what is the point of even coming here? Don't you get it? The more people you have on your ignore list, the better you are! That's why you have to tell the whole forum how many or who you have on there at least 3 times a week in order to retain your "big man" status. Duh. Get with the program.
  15. Get Bradley signed! Please! How's his character been? I'm not the biggest believer in clubhouse chemistry, but that guy is a stark raving nutcase. I hope he doesn't lose his cool, because I fear for anyone around him at that time.
  16. He's not going to miss out. He's gonna have every opportunity to make a trade for Peavy on his terms. Towers has no other option. (*waits for another team to surface as an option*) If any team can screw this up, it's the Cubs. I absolutely want Peavy here, but I won't believe it until I actually see him put on the uniform at the press conference.
  17. I won't mind rooting for Wood on the Indians. At least it's an AL team. :( One that routinely plays against the White Sox. And one that comes to Wrigley Field from June 19-21. How weird would that be? He'd get a standing ovation the first time he took the mound.
  18. If this were a Bill James stat, Theriot would be going to Cooperstown before Santo. ](*,) Even if it's not, I still think Riot has the better chance, unfortunately.
  19. Someone in the Mark Loretta, Ray Durham, Alex Cintron category, I would assume. I've said it a couple places now, but Clint Barmes is my guy for that spot. Good defender that has always hit LHP, in an overcrowded infield situation in Colorado with Atkins, Baker, Stewart, and Tulowitzki all competing for 3 spots. I'd like Barmes. He can play all the positions Derosa can as well. He has seen time in RF and CF in his career, and both as recently as the last 2 years. I don't imagine him in CF would be a good idea, but no reason he can't play some corner OF in case of injury or days off. Barmes sure has an ugly OBP, but with what Perry has done over the last two years, there may be some hope for him. I just worry that if we give up both Marquis and Marshall, who will be the spot starter when injuries occur. They will happen and I don't know if Angel Guzman can do it or anyone else in the system. Gaudin might be the next best option, but we don't even know if we're keeping him. We'd pretty much have to keep him if both Marquis and Marshall leave.
  20. this wont work. hoffpauir is in rf johnson cf, soriano lf, fukudome ss, cajuns 2b. we didnt sign milton bradley. we signed the parker brothers instead I say we slash the payroll, and put it all into research for a futuristic cloning machine, and then have the team be 23 Sotos, Z, and Harden. we better clone a lot more hardens so when one breaks we have another I retract my last post. We'll just clone 25 Sotos and be done with it.
  21. My heart skipped a beat when I saw this thread had grown 8 pages since I last checked, but then were once again dashed.

  23. Actually it was Lou Piniella, and its wasn't "Suck it Lou" it was like "I wish Lou was here to see this" or something like that. I'd probably hate Lou Piniella if I was Scott Eyre too. Yeah. Damn him for trading Eyre to a team that won the World Series. Damn him straight to hell!
