  1. I'm just glad this BS isn't the Packers problem anymore.
  2. He's one of the few bright spots in this current black hole of suck.
  3. I'd pay to see that... I'd like to see Z vs. Braun, one on one. To the death. Honestly, Z might be the last person in MLB I would want to have to fight. Farnsworth? You'd get your ass racky-tacked.
  4. You think maybe this insane rambling drivel is why nobody else bothered to post stats? No, I think nobody bothered to post stats because everyone other than Fred who took issue with what I said was too lazy and/or stupid to do so.
  5. A) Not your fault, but "chuckywang" posting in a thread where Fred's junk was recently discussed is pretty funny (I take no issue with your post or you personally, though) b) No wonder your team is always thrown at, Ken. It's full of classless morons like you c) Lumafia is a smart man. Listen to him D) Fred the stat man with some very interesting material there. Fred, I take no issue with anything you've posted and I'm sure it's 100% factual. Others should take note. You have a complete buttload of info readily available to you in your handy laptop. I still say you missed your calling working for Stats, Inc, but I digress... It's not just the Cubs overall w/l record that makes me say "Only the Cubs" It's just.... I can't put my finger on it and I don't want to say it's a curse because that's stupid, but.... I just don't know. The Cubs have a different feeling about them than other teams do. I have nothing to back that up and it's just my own personal experience. They have had some exceptionally bad luck the last 40-ish years or so, and I'm not just talking about W-L records either. People know what I'm talking about. And yes, there have been other teams that have had bad luck too (see: Red Sox, Boston). I fully admit that, but none anywhere near on the level of the Cubs. Thank you again, Fred, for actually posting stats and facts to back up your argument. I have a ton of respect for that. The Cubs are nowhere near the worst franchise of all time. I will admit that.
  6. Joey Votto goes 0-12 then will whine some more about how much he thinks Wrigley sucks.
  7. If that's how you choose to twist this whole thing around, that's just fine with me. If you'll excuse me, I have better things to do than continue this discussion which has been dragged so far off course. Once again, though... 3 little words caused this whole thing. I just want everyone reading to remember that next time I'm called irrational. After reading the last 2 pages of this thread there are people far worse than me.
  8. Are you going to keep arguing semantics? I already said use whatever year you want. And I posted "facts" (things that actually happened--- look them up) to support my "opinion". You really sure like to split hairs, don't you? If this is all this conversation has left then I'm done.
  9. Actually, my meds regulate the peaks and valleys quite well, thanks for asking. They're little red ones administered by the court-ordered workers. Fine, look at whatever the hell you want. I was just trying to stay within the timeframe of facts that I had first posted, but if you want to go back further, then fine.
  10. Keep it coming. I almost have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. You are honestly the best entertainment I've had in a very long time. To think of all the amusement I've gotten this afternoon from posting 3 little words and watching the subsequent fallout makes me smile. People say I'm irrational, but look at what just the statement "only the cubs" caused in people. It's really quite amusing.
  11. Ok then.
  12. Yes it is, actually. My argument was strictly for on-field play (I listed the Sliva thing but said that had nothing to do with the Cubs on-field performance). Nice try, though.
  13. I don't think this is really newsworthy. Lots of guys are placed on waivers after the deadline just to see if there's a market for them. The Nats can always pull him back.
  14. Does being on the 40 man affect arbitration, too, or is that just from time of ML debut?
  15. Do we have to work with calendar weeks? Any 7 day period? A consecutive seven day period falling inside the MLB regular season. We'll go since 1957 since that's as far back as I went in my argument. I seriously gotta go though for a bit. The kid is up.
  16. Man, people here are not grasping the concept of "facts" today. erik, you didn't prove or use "facts" to show that only the Cubs could have had a week of baseball this bad. To do so would require you point out some kind of previous "winner" of worst week ever and then showing how the Cubs' week was worst. You did nothing of the sort. You rattled off a bunch of reasons why the Cubs sucked this past week and then subjectively declared that they amounted to the suckiest week that the sucky Cubs ever sucked. There is nothing anyone can do to "prove you wrong" because you never proved your own point in the first place. There is exactly something someone can do: Prove a worse week by another team. Again, I'lll even let a few things slide here and there, and they can be approximations. Nothing has to be exact. This is why I said way back when that it wasn't worth getting into it because not your or my opinion on the matter would be changed, and neither opinion has. CUBS 7/27/10 - 8/2/10 0-6 record outscored 63-17 PIRATES 4/20/10 - 4/26/10 0-7 record outscored 72-12 Ok, so that was one of the things I listed. Good job. Someone can acuatlly use faxcts to backup an argument... im soshocked i think im having a smallstroke *falls over, twitching*
  17. Ok. See, unlike you, I can use actual facts when debating. Here is why you are wrong: Lou Piniella's approximate Cubs managerial record: 311-276 (.529 win pct), with 2 playoff appearances A worse manager? Of the long list of managers I could name, let's go with Jim Riggleman: 374-419 (.472 win pct) with 1 playoff appearance. Ok. Your turn. How many teams managed by Jim Riggleman had a week as bad as Lou's team?? I will need to see a side by side chart comparison of futility records broken before I can proceed. You are classic, you know that? An absolute gem. Mock me all you like, but at least I understand the concept of "using facts to back up my argument." You just use "hurrr if I say he's wrong enough times and don't actually give any reasons why then that means he'll just HAVE to be wrong". Do you see a difference? Someone PM me when someone has posted actual facts debunking my original argument. Until then, I have to go make lunch for the kid. Peace.

  20. Fine. Maybe not "only the Cubs", but very few teams in recent memory have sucked this badly in a weeks worth of games than the Cubs have this past week. Better? And you know this to be sure? You've yet to point out how you can say this unequivocally. You've yet to point out how I can't, so I guess we've reached an impasse, haven't we? Well, no, since you fail to grasp that the burden of proof is on you. You made a statement and then showed nothing to show that it was true. Rattling off a list of why the Cubs sucked does nothing to prove that it was a week that "only the Cubs" could have. So just because you say it is, that makes it so? Is there some sort of "burden of proof" ettiquite I'm violating? You're the one calling ME out, so therefore YOU should have to prove ME wrong, not the other way around. If you're unwilling or unable, step aside. Saying "Well, this happens to all teams over the course of a year blah blah blah" is a BS statement unless you're willing to back it up. I've backed up my argument, now back yours up with some sort of actual facts instead of just conjecture and posturing. And in those list of reasons, it was a week that "only the Cubs" could have because... are you ready..... only the Cubs have had a week like that. And again, if I'm wrong and it is proven, I will gladly retract my statement. Until then, if you say I'm wrong, use actual facts.
