  1. I stand by this. Who's up for rapid depilitation with me? To illustrate how far he's declined after the nice numbers early in his career, his most similar hitters by age are Rod Carew, Barry Larkin, Tony Fernandez, and Hellen Keller. http://www.baseball-reference.com/k/kendaja01.shtml
  2. Kendall has been in the top 10 in singles in his league each year for the last 7. Awesome.
  3. Wow. Wikipedia is already updated to show Kendall with the Cubs.
  4. Sutcliffe must be baked. I suppose Soto's going right back to Iowa? Crap.
  5. A Cubs jersey with Juicy Fruit on the back...quality.
  6. I was just about to type "I know the girl is cute and all, but does baseball really need sideline reporters?"
  7. Hill's giving up some shots - defense is helping. I guess SF is doing pretty well with the gloves, too. Two in a row from Sori.
  8. And then realize that he shouldn't swing at them when they're bouncing.
  9. I hate being right. A blind man could've called that K, though.
  10. Jones trying to strike out faster than should be humanly possible.
  11. It is just me. Feliz has a career .667 OPS against us before tonight.
  12. I'd sooner have every single hair on my body yanked out all at once than see us trade for Kendall.
  13. Yuck, yuck, and more yuck. Nearly everyone on that roster is underachieving (save Brian Roberts and Markakis, who I'm sure aren't available.) Millar is a possibility on the bench and spot starting in RF. However, he is (and always has been) better against righties than lefties. He'd be a bad RF, but Floyd and Murton have been, as well. He's supposed to be good in the clubhouse. For now, DeRosa in RF is a better option (though that assumes you can plug 2b with Theriot/Fontenot). Huff has been bad this year. Floyd is a better offensive option as long as he stays healthy. His contract and current production makes him a big no-thanks, not even to unload Jones' contract. Jay Gibbons has been horrible this year. They do have some average-ish arms in the pen they might part with (Chad Bradford, Scott Williamson), but nothing to get excited about. I'd probably gouge out my belly button if we picked up Trachsel again.
  14. Tampa Bay is in full surge and has taken the lead at 56-35. Cincy still right on their heels, playing inspired ball in dropping 3 of 4 to the Mets. The ChiSox were a potential dark horse if they'd have traded away Buererhlehele, but trading Dye and a couple others might not be enough to keep them in this race. I hope (for Hawk's sake) that they make a run at the fecal title. Texas, Washington, KC, and the Giants are all still in the running. Barry Zito is doing his best to show that a big free agent signing might've been just what SF needed to get in this race.
  15. My prediction would be that we add: Kenny Lofton David Riske or Octavio Dotel (nooo), or maybe Jon Rauch or Chad Bradford I'll say we lose out in the Gagne bidding. I still think Xavier Nady might be someone Hendry goes after. I know he's cheap and the Pirates don't need to move him, but offering Murton and an arm might do the trick. Murton would be even cheaper and under the Pirates' control for longer. I wonder if we'd get in on the Chad Cordero bidding, though he probably won't come cheap. Jermaine Dye is hitting better, but I think we'd get reamed in that trade. The "I hope nots" on my list (not guys I've read specific rumors about, just players I hope we don't land): Austin Kearns, Adam Dunn, Felipe Lopez, Jack Wilson (dear.god.no).
  16. The acquisitions have been good (if overly expensive, though that appears to be where the market is going.) I'm more happy about the moves that weren't made. Not signing Lugo, Zito, Schmidt, and Vicente Padilla are nice moves to not have made. I don't think Hendry can take credit for not making them as the players themselves probably made the decisions, but I'm glad to see all those guys on other teams.
  17. I think we should get the Bad News Bears Astrodome kiddie fences out for the next round.
  18. Berman and Morgan and Dusty. It's the Perfect Storm.
  19. I hope Prince wins, then gets a nasty rash from the chafing of so many swings and has to miss three months. And renames himself to the slugger formerly known as Prince Fielder.
  20. Since we're hearing Gammons and Bonds instead of Magglio's play-by-play, it's safe to say that Ordonez is clearly not Now. Lucky him. That whole exercise in self-congratulation is one of the dumbest things ESPN has done, and that's saying something.
