  1. Can we start a purse-fight thread in addition to the game thread?
  2. Marhsall probably shaved an inning off his night by letting that inning drag out. Ah well. He's still having a pretty solid night.
  3. Freel with a single. That's why you throw a fastball on 3-2 to the previous guy.
  4. Marshall walked a guy on a 3-2 breaking ball with a 5 run lead? No bueno.
  5. Bummage on the pickoff. Yahoo on the inning. Pickoff aside, Theriot has been awesome in the 2-hole in July. He's at .351/.435(!)/.473 in July before walking twice tonight. 17 runs in 20 games before tonight, too. 13 walks and 4 strikeouts this month, counting the two tonight.
  6. That's a lot of weak singles. I was thinking the same thing. I'll buy 3 weak singles, but 11? That's a month's worth.
  7. And especially since Soto is probably already better than Laird. Well, Hendry probably hasn't realized that part yet. Laird has 757 career ABs in the majors with a .255/.308/.383 line. His numbers weren't bad last year in 243 ABs, but that's nothing. Why are these rumors talking about him like he's an established, quality guy? If we traded a serious prospect for Laird, it's a bad move. Someone suggested Soto for him, which I wouldn't do...but makes some sense if Soto isn't going to get a real shot here.
  8. So long as someone else gives up the farm for him instead of us, I'm good.
  9. Do you really think hed be much worse than Floyd out there? I doubt it, and the offensive upgrade over Floyd would be enough to make up for it. Yeah, he actually would be. Dunn could play blindfolded and be about as good in the outfield.
  10. Pie in any trade for Church would be horrific.
  11. Except Jones played the whole game tonight, so if there was a deal, he wasn't part of it. Don't steal my sunshine.
  12. Maybe we traded Jones and Kroger for someone - a bullpen arm, maybe. Pie would come up to take Jones' place...Fox goes to Iowa. Speculation rocks.
  13. I'm not a fan of Dunn. Value-wise you have to give up more than Pie to get Dunn, but I wouldn't do it.
  14. Well done. I'm dancing with the hands side-to-side Astley style. Pompadour powers, activate!
  15. I wish I had your confidence in that possibility. I'm dreading a Pie for Octavio Dotel-ish move. Hendry is stupid with contracts, but for the most part he has been fairly good/average with trades. He knows that Pie is and deserves to be this organizations best prospect. Bullpen isn't the cubs biggest need and it's not even close. Dempster has been solid as well as marmol, wuertz and howry as set up men. I have faith that he's not THAT stupid. I'm calling it now, if Pie is traded, then it is for Ken Griffey Jr. ps-I still think someone less important (jones) was traded. Boy, Griffey would be nice. Still, I'd be much less than psyched to have Felix gone, especially on another team in the division.
  16. I wish I had your confidence in that possibility. I'm dreading a Pie for Octavio Dotel-ish move.
  17. Register yes, pay no. Thank you. I'm going to pretend I hacked it all to hades and I'm getting over on the man. Radio free Europe.
  18. You really have to pay to listen to minor league games now? Damn.
  19. I hope it's Pie coming up and Jones being traded. Trading Pie would be tough to swallow given the names in the trade market.
  20. Haven't really noticed it being bad...at least not inconsistent.
