  1. Glavine hit a 2 out single to score Milledge. Pagan dropped the ball, ruining what looked like a very good chance to get Milledge. Reyes followed up with a single to center.
  2. Lee needs to lift one of his trademark warning track fly balls to right into the wind.
  3. Thank yaweh, I had visions of a Moises 3 run bomb stomping on my brain.
  4. Which means Reyes needs to get out and stuff.
  5. Wind was howling out on the first shots from Espn. I don't feel great about Marquis. I hope he makes me wrong.
  6. Yeah but you want them to have to beat your best. That is Myers. Nobody would've brought in their closer there. Gordon's good enough to get him, Fielder was better in that AB. They need to win games to catch the Mets. We beat the Mets today presenting them with the opportunity to do such a thing. Their closer is a starter, from this year. I don't think it was improbable to use your closer there. And if they brought Myers in and he tired in the 9th, we'd all be saying what a bad decision that was. The guy hit a homer, then Clark stole one from them. The Brewers did way more to win than the Phillies did to lose.

  8. Give credit where it's due. That was more about the Brewers winning than the Phillies losing.
  9. This one's swell, especially the post about Joe Morgan: http://www.dodgerblues.com/fanforum/nfphpbb/viewtopic.php?t=9700
  10. Thank goodness. He's still rapidly approaching Earl Cunningham-land.
  11. I wonder if somewhere there's a Phillies board where 30 posters just said "that's the game, we're going to lose."
  12. Heck yes on the DP. You chicken littles need to cheer up. (Unless it's reverse psychology, in which case please continue.)
  13. Heh - I was watching the Cubs/Reds game last Saturday night on mlb.tv and saw Greg Brady all dolled up in Reds gear. Man-hoor!
  14. I think the Cabrera talk is unrealistic...unless they think he's eating his way out of anywhere but 1B, and that'd be a red flag. I'm more afraid they'd try to package Pie and others for Willis. That would suck.
  15. You are nuts. The Cubs are getting bottom of the NL barrel production from SS, CF, C and RF, and you think there are no holes? You should check Theriot's July stats and find me an NL shortstop who put up better numbers.
  16. I'm not ready to say it's the worst thing ever if we don't make a move. Sure, I'd love to add a RFer. If the Reds are asking too much for Griffey, then better to pass than overly help a division rival. There aren't many other options that would represent an upgrade. Dunn isn't a fix-all - and he would be even worse in RF than Floyd. Even the Cincy announcers were saying this weekend that they'd consider platooning him against lefties. It'd be nice to add an arm in the pen and leave Petrick and Cherry in Iowa til September call-ups. Maybe that's Kerry Wood, but we're all beyond counting on Kerry's arm to hold up, much as we might want it to. If he did stay healthy, you can still add an arm and move or release Eyre. If Floyd wasn't on the team right now, he'd probably be Hendry's top target. In that sense, our trade deadline move - for whatever it was worth - was made in the offseason.
  17. Salty is likely moving to 1B to replace Texiera. They don't want to wear his bat down by playing C everyday in the Texas heat. Because that Texas heat affected Pudge so much. And Salty's from Florida, played in the GCL, Sally, Carolina, and Southern League, ohh yeah and Hotlanta. I'm sure hes not used to heat. I'm not sold that Pudge's ability to catch many games in Texas was an entirely natural phenomenon.
  18. At this point, Marshall is a better option than Willis. Willis might sell some tickets, but the only thing he's got going for him these days is durability. His pitching has been average or worse for a season and a half. So, of course, I totally expect Hendry to ignore reason and sell the farm for him.
  19. Jim Hendry: Constantly on a quest to acquire the most average players possible. Pass, please.
