  1. Dawson woulda had him by another half step. But still pretty good.
  2. Right. Anyone who thinks Pippen showed up in '87 and had the league talking about multiple titles, dynasties, etc. is fooling themselves. Probably someone who wasn't around for The Migraine Game, unlocking the Jordan Rules, etc. Now we can say that the '90s Bulls had two of the greatest ever, but that was by no means foreordained. There were a lot of battles that built up to that. And I think what's rubbing some people wrong about this Miami scenario. It feels like some fantasy video game concoction: more a collection of stars than a team. It's the Yankee way. Some people love it; some people don't.
  3. For those of us who couldn't tune into the entire game: what's the verdict? Would USMNT have kept pace with Uruguay? Also, kinda ironic that we have yet another controversial goal line call, though AFAIK the ref handled it properly in this case.
  4. Does Fangraphs do the World Cup? The split-second before the handball, while the ball was in flight, U's probability mightn't have been measurable.
  5. what a laser Germany-Argentina will be interesting
  6. Yeah, you'd think so. What would you bet they'll do: Replay or some form of goal line officials?
  7. At least yesterday Clark had the sense to turn it over at midfield. CONCACAF defenses not impressing this weekend.
  8. So England can't rebound from their flat play in group play. USA can't overcome a backline weakness and conceding early goals. Knockout round exposes Group C's survivors for what they are.
  9. Or if not, one more should!
  10. That oughta do it. And again, the finishing strike really underlines the gap between USA and the top-tier international teams.
  11. It's one thing to have an official not make a subjective foul call. It's another to have to have the ball actually go in the net but be disallowed, like US v Slovenia. But to see it cross the line in the run of play, cleanly, and not be counted? Ouch. I'm starting to almost feel relieved USA is out. Almost.
  12. If Germany keeps ceding possession to England this decisively, they'll give up another one, maybe two. Should be a heck of a second half.
  13. hahaha! Can't wait to hear FIFA's "nothing to see here, everything is OK with how we officiate" explanation. I fear for London right now.
  14. LOL! England's response to the first goal showing what they're made of, indeed.
  15. vertical game
  16. The pain of this one won't fully sink in until tomorrow, when I'm watching England-Germany and remember that our soccer archnemesis is Ghana. Sucks, too, to lose on a breakdown.
  17. Tim Howard for the winner?
  18. how much more?
  19. need a break here.
  20. CASH IT IN!!!!
  21. Yeah, was thinking the same thing. If I'm Ghana, I'm going down each and every time, if all it adds up to is one minute added on.
  22. huh? looked like he just crumpled down on his own there.
  23. t'aint over
  24. even conceding early in extra time? Oh, c'mon!
  25. whoa - was that Kevin Garnett?
