  1. Either come here and post, read, lurk, etc. or don't. Telling everyone that you are going to some mysterious other board because it is so much better is lame.
  2. I think if you were trying to talk your apprehensive family into bidding on the purchase of a major league baseball team telling them that the fans are pretty fickle and that the players and management are crappy probably wouldn't be a good angle to take.
  3. I think Castro needs to do some work, this swinging at everything crap is going to hurt him long term. He seems to be swing and missing a lot more than he did early in the season.
  4. C'mon LaRussa, be sporting about it. Put in Franklin and give us a shot at this game.
  5. TJS for Rich Hill just as he seemed to be putting something together as a reliever for Boston.
  6. Time for the best player on the team to do some damage.
  7. We have Garcia right were we want him. Lulled into a sense of security the first 7 innings and now we exploit that for a big 8th inning.
  8. This WGN feed is the best the Cubs have looked all season.
  9. I would like the Cubs to try some kind of platoon with DeWitt and Barney to keep Barney from getting overexposed. He seems to have a good approach at the plate and could be a useful guy to have on the roster but I dread him becoming some kind of cult hero like Theriot and being given the every day starting job the next two years just because of a good month.
  10. Nope. They'll need another 40-man move. One figures it would be one of the fringe pitchers (one of Smit, Dolis, Cabrera, Stevens?) getting bumped, or perhaps Byrd getting moved to the 60-day DL. I guess it could be Byrd since it doesn't seem likely he will be back in 60 days but I think they could probably also get Berg through waivers to remove him from the 40 man roster pretty easily at this point as well.
  11. Stern will find a way to screw Cuban out of a title if the Mavs get too close to winning. He probably has Danny Crawford all warmed up for a potential game 7.
  12. With the amount of playing time Baker has been getting lately they probably could have just gone the Bobby Scales route.
  13. The Pena play at the plate on the Hill sac fly was a good example of the hyprocricy of turning the Posey injury into an issue about protecting the defenseless catchers. Pena just slid through Doumit but he easily could have just blown him up since he didn't have the ball when Pena got to him and slowed down Pena's slide enough with his leg that he almost was able to make the out. No other infielders would try to stand in front of the base to block the runner before they had the ball.
  14. So now that Johnson may need to go on the DL with back problems does that pretty much force the Cubs to get Colvin back here? http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/ct-spt-0529-bits-cubs-pirates-chicago20110528,0,6996004.story
  15. Berg pretty much guaranteed his immediate demotion with that 12 ball performance last night. Coleman will be gone as soon as Garza comes back. They will have to take someone off the 40 man roster to clear a spot. It probably should be Berg as well.
  16. If you can't get excited about a James Russell start I don't know what's wrong with you.
  17. The good news is Russell is pitching well, the bad news is that knowing the Cubs this will probably earn him another start.
  18. Guessing that isn't what you meant. Ha, ha - no. I guess he has a pretty good history against him from when he was on the Yankees. Go figure.
