I think Len and Campbell mentioned on the Sunday broadcast that Kirk Gibson never went to the All-Star game as a player, presumably because he had no interest in giving up his free time to attend. But he was super gritty so I am sure that is much more acceptable than what Ramirez did. And of course we dare not question the great Derek Jeter and his need for an emotional rest from ESPN kissing his ass 24/7 for the last 2 months.

If they don't do well in their games right after the all star break against the Yankees and Red Sox I wouldn't be surprised if the Rays become sellers and try to move Upton, Kotchman, Farnsworth and maybe even Shields if the price is right (but obviously not to anyone in the AL East). -

I like the home plate umpire running toward Ortiz and Gregg like he is going to try to keep them from getting at each other then getting about 3/4 of the way there before thinking better of it and heading the other direction. -
Dempster doesn't appreciate the early hook but actually I think it was a pretty good call. He seemed to be laboring in the 5th.

Wow. Good for Nick. If the Lopez / Ortiz / Coleman juggernaut doesn't work out looks like Struck might be next in line to get a shot at the Chicago rotation.

A veteran like Davis probably has too much pride to want to keep going out there and get crushed every fifth day. I am sure that as much as anything Davis went to Hendry after the 10 year service time passed and asked to be put out of his misery. I guess Rodrigo Lopez goes in the rotation for now. Don't really see any better options in the minors that are ready to go.

I would rather they keep Pena than trade him for some mediocre prospects. What team is going to give up anything of real value for a 2 month rental of him? -
