  1. Indeed, indeed, either those chants or the stupid bambino curse crap. The World Series winners are playing in reverse order form 1918, I figure the Red Sox are up again (1916)....
  2. Be more patronizing next time. Amen. Perhaps OTB oughta read the board more often before coming up with labels that aren't in line with the fans on this board. Understood. The fans here are passionate diehards who care. I'm familiar with media labels too.
  3. And so it ends. It was nice being World Champions for a year. Don't get angry at the Sox fans for their happiness, rather as other have suggested here get mad at your own management. "Lovable loser" is no way to go through life.
  4. I'll offer the only comparison that I can in the fact that there are kids in New England who (cutely to their Red Sox parents say) "the Yankees have never won the World Series" since they haven't in their own recollection. Winning the Series changes an area and a fandom alot, bandwagon fans or not.
  5. As an outsider who's been to whitesoxinteractive.com (trash, if you ask me) and seen that they call the Tribune the "Cubbune," I find this all truly ironic. This kind of media saturation happens everywhere where there is a home team in a big game or series especially since it helps sell more ad pages.
  6. That may be, but you know the grapes would be twice as sour if the roles were reversed. Many of us just can't congratulate the Sox, and there's nothing wrong with that. I don't know if that's true. The Sox fans have never considered themselves cursed and had a whole mythology that they latched onto, have they? They may have had years of ineptitude but they were not "lovable losers," a term that is sickening to most baseball fans who care about W-L.
  7. For all of those who have spent a lifetime ridiculing the Sox, their ballpark and their fans, I expect it's going to come back in spades. Saying they are lucky and don't deserve to win is like the idiotic Red Sox fans who chant "Yankees Suck!"
  8. I'd take red hot passion and bitterness over "lovable loser," anyday, but that's me.
  9. Having seen the legion of bandwagon fans that hopped on last season, I expect it will be even worse in Chicago. Most of these people won't know how to spell Konerko. The spanking brand new "World Series Champions" t-shirts won't be looking washed, that is true.
  10. Lucky or not, a World Series Championship is a World Series Championship. Wouldn't you "conveniently ignore" everything too?
  11. Why should it matter when fans enjoy following "loveable losers" or is that an unfair stereotype that has changed? I don't think most fans on this board celebrate lovably losing but rather would put their feet to the fire.
  12. Nevermind what ESPN is going to do. Fox is going to watch the ratings hit the cellar, especially if the Angels lose to the White Sox.
  13. The Red Sox of course. "Why Not Us, Again?"
  14. Spoken like the fan of a team in first place in June. There is plenty of baseball to be played.
  15. He'll likely be signed by the Red Sox or Yankees as a replacement for their faltering closers.
  16. This blurb from Rotoworld.com's Brandon Lyon summary sums it up well. So, who do you want up while down 5-4 with a man on first and two outs in the bottom of the ninth? If you're Dusty Baker, you choose Neifi Perez, of course, even with Jerry Hairston Jr. and Jason Dubois still sitting on the bench. If not for the fact that he bailed the Diamondbacks out of a jam in the eighth, we're not sure Lyon would deserve credit for a save. Neifi Perez
