  1. "this inning has become a nightmare for dusty baker and the cubs..." Dan, dont you mean this season?
  2. for the same reason that murton and cedeno are riding pine, the same reason that nefi is in the 2 spot....anyone care to venture a guess at that reason?Dusty is an idiot, and I blame Hendry for him still being here. and we have a winner!!! DING!! DING!!! DING!!! DING!!! DING!!!

  4. :pukel: I'm not saying one way or another if #21 should be retired...but I don't think his # deserves the same respect that Sandberg's does and I would hate to see #21 under #23. I don't see how you can't retire it. Sammy was the face of this franchise for many years. You said "Cubs", people thought "Sammy Sosa." He and McGwire brought a lot of the fans back after the strike. He was the only reason to come out and watch the pathetic teams of 1999, 2000, and 2002. He is a sure-bet HOF'er, hit 500+ homers for this team, and is one of the best players the Cubs ever had. Regardless of what you thought of him when he was here or how he left, you can't deny his importance to this organization and what he did for it while he was here. he put butts in the seats, thus allowing management to sit on their laurals and take a few years off from trying to field a winning team Are you saying Sammy should be punished because he brought people out to the park to see him? i'm saying that sammy was a bad thing for the organization from the stand point of fielding a winning team, therefore he set the franchise back...players who set the franchise back should not be honored in such a way

  6. Who cares about the cupholders??? agreed...if i need to put my beer down i do have a lap
  7. balls stopped by the moat ground rule doubles or infielders have to swim for em?if i have a beer tap at my seat i \'ll need a catheter or a personal urinal, one or the other
  8. is that what i think it is? The walls are crumbling in someone's city. "oh no, there goes tokyo...go go Modzilla!"
  9. e-gads!!! why do i watch this team?!? time for a beer
  10. we're gonna have to get creative to blow this opportunity
  11. just ratteling cages to see who growls, im feeling kinda punchy....and i havent even started drinking yet :P
  12. we can blame that popped up bunt on Corey, if he hadnt gotten on base Maddux wouldnt have been bunting...its ALL Corey's fault
  13. Perez has hit well at Coors would be my guess....along with a lefty on the mound. nefi vs lefties .290......walker vs lefties .368 :D Hey you're preaching to the choir. I'm just using toothpick logic. someone needs to jam that toothpick deep in Dusty's ear, might make him think a little more clearly A lobotomy with a toothpick...could it be done? i'm willing to experiment at this point

  16. Yes, yes you could. Name some better back-up SS in MLB. Please back it up with stats. You may think Cedeno could perform better than Neifi, but you don't know that for certain. AAA stats don't compare to ML stats. Please include defense. Not to mention intagibles like leadership can't be ignored either. are you saying that Nefi is a leader on this team? if that is the case we are SOOOOOOOOOOO screwed Neifi is constantly going out to the mound and "consulting" with the pitcher. Drama queen Dusty probably eats that crap up and thinks it's indicative of Neifi's leadership, which is also probably why Neifi does it. that doesnt make him a leader, it just makes him irritating
  17. i dont think that cedeno would have been able to leg out that rocket shot like Nefi just did

  19. If you were to scrutinize a player with a .267 OBP to the smallest detail, we'd have to devote the entire board to it. There's not enough hours in the day to scrutinize all the details of Corey's game. Truly, he's a very crappy baseball player by any objective measure and offers not shortage of ammunition. All those other guys you mentioned are trashed on a routine basis on this board. The difference between them and Corey is they don't have a group of apologists shamelessly making excuse after excuse for them. FYI i am not trying to make excuses for Corey, like you said there is no shortage of ammunition provided by Corey, it just seems to me that there is no reason to rip the guy for excecuting on a hit and run, that was just bad timing, blame it on Dusty if you must place blame. rip Corey all you want for HIS mistakes, Lord knows he makes enough
  20. correct me if im wrong (i didnt see this play, only heard it described on the rockies radio broadcast) but wasnt the hit and run on on this play? the rockies announcers sure seemed to think it was on, and if it was you cant really call this a baserunning gaffe, with Corey's speed , on ball caught with the hit and run on, he is pretty much screwed. Corey obviouly has some problems, i am in no way trying to make excuses for him, but lets not hang crap on him when he doesnt deserve it, hes already carrying enough with just the stuff he deserves.
  21. LOL, is that a wish? I know the Cubs won't be swept. the part of me that wants to see Baker get fired secretly wishes we dont win another game till he is gone
  22. new losing streak starts tomorrow? :-s
