  1. I'll be surprised if they're able to play tonight in Jackson. The weather doesn't look good at all.
  2. I think it'll get some fans there. It may be a long shot, but it's still a shot. It'll also give some excitement to the fans there, even if the probability is low. There were several folks at the park in Jackson last night since it was a free gas Friday, with 10 fans winning $100 in gas.
  3. Patterson's jersey went for $350. Tim was the high bidder at $145, but there was apparently a proxy bid that bumped it late. Marmol's was only going for $85 late in the auction, but it was receiving bids at the close of the auction and I'm not sure what it went for. Speaking of Marmol, he agreed to do a Q & A with the site last night!
  4. As with any Minor League promotion, the idea is to get people out to the park that normally wouldn't be there. The fans will be there regardless of what promotions are going on. With that being said, teams have to figure out ways to get the others out there.
  5. Starting bid is $75, a price that a lot of them went for.
  6. What a great night tonight! It was so great to have the opportunity to meet Tim personally and show him around Pringles Park tonight! It was great getting to introduce him to players and being able to introduce him to people in the organization. In addition, there was a great game in the middle of everything going on at the park tonight! I won't steal any of Tim's thunder and let him give the details on the night. I will brag on the 2005 team signed jersey I picked up in the jersey auction as well as the Cub Scout jersey signed by Randy Wells! Hopefully the rain will stay away tomorrow night!
  7. Chance at Free Tuition Part of College Night at O’Brien May 2nd Ten Contestants can win One Year Tuition up to $19,000 PEORIA, IL — The Peoria Chiefs have announced a contest for College Night, Tuesday May 2nd, in which any one of 10 lucky finalists could win a year’s tuition up to $19,000. The contest is open to legal US residents who are aged 16 or older as of May 2nd, 2006 and who have a valid driver’s license. Those wanting to participate will be asked to fill out a form with name, address, age and phone number when they arrive at the 6:30 PM game on Tuesday. There will be a sign-up box and table on the concourse. Ten (10) participants will be randomly selected from all eligible entries received. The actual contest will take place on top of the dugouts between innings during the 6:30 PM Chiefs game against the SW Michigan Devil Rays. The 10 participants will be asked to roll four (4) dice provided by the Chiefs and have each die come to rest with the predetermined winning side face up. The winning symbols for this contest are $ $ $ $. All dice roll attempts will be monitored and recorded on video tape. No warm-up or practice tosses will be allowed and there are no do-overs. The die may be rolled all at once or one at a time but if they are done one at a time the first dice that shows a non-winning side face-up ends the turn. Each die must be tossed at least four feet in height and roll a minimum of 10 feet in distance from the contestant. All die must come to rest lying flat and must land on AND remain on the designated rolling surface without hitting another person or object. Any eligible participant who gets all four (4) dice to land $ $ $ $ within the designated area and follows all rules will be awarded the grand price of a Year College Tuition UP TO $19,000. Winners of prizes greater than $600.00 will be issued a 1099 form reflecting the value of the prize(s) and are responsible for paying all income taxes on prize(s). Employees, officers, and directors of Peoria Chiefs and American Hole ‘n One, their respective affiliated companies, subsidiaries, distributors, dealers, retailers, printers, advertising, and promotion agencies, any and all other companies associated with this contest, and the members of the immediate families or households of any of the above.
  8. Hopefully you guys are having as much fun as we've had today! I'll be sure to post the pictures of the pitch in the next few days. I also have a video!
  9. Unfortunately, Delmon has had a series of moments in his young career, from serving a suspension for bumping an umpire to flinging a bat in the air after getting hit by a pitch. I never met him, so I cannot condemn his character. However, he has a reputation of a guy with the "Major League attitude". One would hope that a professional journalist wouldn't use old grudges on a player, but we'll have to wait and see what happens.
  10. The quotes I read had Delmon saying that he never intended to hit the umpire. When/Where did he say he meant to hit him?
  11. I really don't think whether he was wearing a chest protector and/or flinched takes away from what Delmon did. I'm not calling either way in regards to what will/should happen to him. However, things shouldn't be tolerated on a baseball field that wouldn't be tolerated anywhere else in society.
  12. They lit him up:
  13. What's game time? 7:05 CT Let's also hope Tim doesn't bounce the ceremonial first pitch  Jaxx lose :(
  14. Tying run up for the Jaxx in the 9th
  15. BTW, I hope there are lots of people listening to the broadcast tomorrow! Not sure when Tim will be in the booth, but I know he will be there!
  16. A 2B from Luis cuts the lead in half! Hoffpauir follows with a 2B to make the score 6-4!
  17. "I didn't mean to hit him" -Delmon Young
  18. What difference does it make whether he wanted to hurt the guy? It's still recklessly dangerous conduct (which can make someone criminally liable for something, regardless of their intent). Agreed. Who cares how hard it was? The fact remains the same that he hit a guy with a bat.
  19. The pitcher clears the bases. Jaxx have given up 6 runs thus far, only one out. :(
  20. Mathes leaves for Piggy and the Suns keep hitting, 4-0 with 1 out and runners on 2nd & 3rd in the 6th
  21. Thanks for the comments, it's greatly appreciated. However, don't forget that I had a lot of help from start to finish on this one. Hopefully I didn't leave anyone out when I was thanking the folks that helped. I'm going to chime in on the praise for Sean with something that I didn't include in the interview. The day of the interview, I called Sean early in the afternoon to set up the time for the session. Very early in the conversation, I commented that my wife is pregnant with our first child. At the close of the conversation, 10-15 minutes later, Sean said, "Congratulations to you and your wife on your first child" before hanging up. Class act. It's very easy to pull for someone like that.
