  1. let's hope wilson goes bye bye
  2. that's certainly good news. My guess is that he'll stay at Iowa for tomorrow's game. He'd probably be too tired to play the day game tomorrow for the Cubs. Unless they want to just give him the day off. Hopefully he'll be in the starting lineup Monday night against the Astros. By the way, his defense sounds fine. He made a few nice plays tonight and has been solid during the entire stint. yeah, i didn't expect him back for tomorrow's game. it would be great to have him back for the astros series, though. hopefully it spells the end of enrique wilson's stint as a cub.
  3. that's certainly good news.
  4. yeah, i had mentioned this a couple times in this thread (though it's probably buried a page or two back now) :)
  5. as of this afternoon, sisco led all major league relievers in vorp.

  7. i didn't see the game today, but after reading....wow. i'm really glad i didn't. i went back and .tv`d the end of the game so i could see dusty actually pinch hit with macias. i cannot fathom how a man can be as dumb as dusty. honestly - how can you pinch hit for a guy that has more hits in TODAY'S GAME than the guy who will hit for him? it makes no sense at all. all i know is that i seriously hope today's game has put dusty on the hot seat. i think firing dusty is the only way we've got a shot at the playoffs.
  8. Well that is pretty surprising. Thanks for the stats. it's funny what you can learn from stats. like, how a hitter actually performs. best post i've seen today
  9. finally we get some people in the media who are pointing out the fact that dusty is terrible
  10. Tired? How on EARTH could Hairston be tired today? He's started one game, and he's had a pinch hit appearance in two. Now, please explain that. What I find funny is that you're calling "stat worshippers" arrogant, but that simply reminds me of a saying that involves a pot and a kettle....
  11. wow. you do realize i mentioned using a large enough sample size, right? with a large enough sample (which hairston and neifi's career plate appearances will suffice for), it's going to include appearances against guys like johnson and guys like scott downs. now, if statistics are as worthless as you're trying to claim they are, please inform me, oh omniscient one, what is better for predicting who will more likely get a hit or get on base?
  12. uh, a batting average is a "huge generalization?" if you have a large enough sample, batting average, as well as on base percentage, are very good tools to determine how often that player is going to get a hit/get on base. given the choice of a .275 hitter and a .270 hitter, assuming the .275 hitter's obp is also higher, i would almost always have the .275 hitter bat. that player has proven that he will get hits/get on base more often than the other, and isn't the point of the game to get on base and get hits? according to you, playing a superior player is the wrong decision. playing neifi was the wrong decision today.
  13. how is that a plus? Are you kidding me?? no, i'm not. i think it's pretty sick that you find enjoyment out of his injury, though. pretty pathetic.
  14. grieve can't return to the majors for the cubs until may, can he?
  15. maddux is also our 4th starter, not our supposed #1 or 2. he went 5 and gave up 3 ER today, correct? correct
  16. how is that a plus?
  17. maddux is also our 4th starter, not our supposed #1 or 2.
  18. um, wow. i'd totally put a bunch of money on that, because that's about as optimistic as you can get.
  19. i felt exactly this way, too. unbelievable.
  20. glad to see him get shelled...the sooner he gets returned, the better.
  21. i may be able to push a few your way...ill pm you when I know don't worry about it, my aunt knows some people in the ticket office, she can hook me up a little into the season. thanks anyway, though.
  22. i got completely shut out. this wasn't a good way to end this week....
  23. i feel the same way.
