  1. can we talk about how amazing Brenly was when he called "Angel Hernandez" "Angel Compost?"
  2. Just hit ANOTHER homer.
  3. Sanchez to Giants for AldersonComment Email Print Share By Jerry Crasnick ESPN.com Archive The San Francisco Giants, taking another step to upgrade the National League's 15th ranked offense, acquired three-time All-Star Freddy Sanchez from Pittsburgh on Wednesday for pitching prospect Tim Alderson. Sanchez status remained in limbo Wednesday as the Giants' medical staff checked out his left knee for a second time as a prelude to the trade, a source told ESPN.com. Sanchez was examined Wednesday by Dr. Ken Akizuki, who found noticeable improvement in the knee since a previous exam Monday and categorized Sanchez as day to day, the source said. Sanchez was out of the lineup and replaced at second base by Delwyn Young in the Pirates' 1-0, 10-inning loss to San Francisco on Wednesday afternoon. Sanchez is a .300 career hitter and three-time All-Star The Giants picked up first baseman Ryan Garko in a trade with Cleveland on Monday. Pittsburgh general manager Neal Huntington has already traded away Nate McLouth, Nyjer Morgan and Adam LaRoche this season, and the Pirates sent pitcher Ian Snell and shortstop Jack Wilson to Seattle in a seven-player trade Wednesday. Sanchez has an $8 million option that vests if he accrues 600 plate appearances this season, and the Pirates are trying to move him because that deal is too expensive for their taste. The Pirates recently proposed voiding the option and signing Sanchez to a two-year, $10 million option. Sanchez and his representatives rejected the proposal and made a counteroffer for a deal that would pay him $6.5 million next year, $6.5 million in 2011 and $7 million in 2012, but the Pirates rejected that offer. The Minnesota Twins, whose second base contingent ranks last in the major leagues with a feeble .505 OPS, also reportedly have an interest in Sanchez. Jerry Crasnick covers baseball for ESPN Insider.
  4. What i wouldn't give for FREDDIE SANCHEZ! Lots of rumors out of SF that he's close to being a Giant. >>Freddy Sanchez had his injured left knee examined by Giants' doctors on Wednesday. There were no significant issues found, but it remains to be seen if the Giants and Pirates will work out a deal for the infielder. The latest indicator that a trade could be coming soon is that Sanchez has received permission to spend Thursday's off day at his home in Phoenix, so that if he gets traded to a West Coast team he'll already be in the vicinity. <<
  5. Bummer.... however, excited to get Fuld back. This kid brings the energy!
  6. yeah his stuff is nasty.. reminds me a bit of the rock that Wuertz was.
  7. Dude Stevens LOOKS like a reliever... not a starting pitcher acting as a reliever --this is great. Now fox on the other hand, I am terrified s**less him entering in extras.
  8. Ryan Theriot has horrible range. I disagree he gets to most balls that he should. That is good range. Not Great or Excellent, but good.
  9. Love or hate Theriot (I'm somewhere in between), that's absolutely absurd. He's been a hell of a lot better than Rollins this year. Did Sarge coach him? Theriot is better than most SS in baseball. Good range, perpetual .300 hitter... prototypical #2 hitter.
  10. Gary Matthews JUST said on the broadcast that Ryan Theriot wouldnt be a starter on most MLB teams.
  11. I'd like to withdrawal my stance that the Cubs will win by 4. Fuk in the 5 hole and Hill catching again...boy i hope he can take 3 straight strikes looking again tonight. Can we at least try Fox once starting..give him 6 innings and see what happens. Johnson hitting .222 against righties.... AWESOME that he's starting tonight.
  12. Think he might be a really nice addition to the 2B situation!!! Kelly Johnson homered twice and drove in seven runs in a rehab appearance with Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday. Making his way back from wrist tendinitis, he is batting .326 with a three homers and 15 RBI in 43 at-bats for Gwinnett, but with the steady bat of Martin Prado, Johnson is likely to return as a reserve. His rehab assignment is scheduled to end on Saturday. Brooks Conrad would be the obvious choice to go back down to Gwinnett, but the Braves could also opt to trade Johnson. 13. Does anyone know if he has a Twitter account?
  14. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Pirates are "pushing hard" to trade second baseman Freddy Sanchez, according to a National League executive. The Giants and Rockies are two two interested parties that have spoken to the Pirates, but there are up to five more potential suitors, according to the executive. The 31-year-old All-Star is batting .316 with six homers and 33 RBI. If Sanchez reaches 600 plate appearances, an $8 million option for 2010 will trigger.
  15. Can someone post a breakdown of Soriano's contract by year? Is it backloaded? I haven't been able to find anywhere else. Thanks!
  16. why do the Cubs have such a low draft pick this year?
  17. I hope our collective coaching staff put together a solid game plan for the hitters today. We should know Gaudin's weaknesses inside and out.
  18. is the wind blowing out or was it just a freak homer?
  19. http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=lot Radar looks like it is all northwest... we should have baseball in the next hour.
  20. He's 24... i have no idea why we gave up on him so quickly. Check out this article. http://norfolk.tides.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090508&content_id=581171&vkey=news_milb&fext=.jsp
  21. Anyone know where he is? Can't find a mention anywhere--he hasn't played in days and was just tearing up the ball before!
  22. Can anyone explain why they are putting E-Patt in left and not putting Derosa there? Chi Cubs AB R H RBI BB K LOB Season Avg E. Patterson lf 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .000 R.
