  1. lol. I wish he wouldve said something during the bradley game.
  2. Until it's taken away Weber does have the edge in coaching preseason top-25 teams into NIT berths.
  3. Deron Williams himself has said the reason he is the player he is today is because of playing for Bruce Weber. But, that's not what ole Dollar Bill and his fans want to hear. Richard McBride was never a 5 star. Dee Brown, like Sherron Collins is too short to play in the NBA. Otherwise spot on. Wow! A player said his coach helped him. I stand corrected. You're a fool if you think Deron Williams wasn't going to be great, regardless of who coached him. And I never said McBride was a 5*. He was the RSCI #28 player in his class though. You'd think he'd be in the league with the host of other Illini Weber has sent there. Oh wait. kaun and jackson were 4 star players, kaun was the 6th rated center in his class and is currently playing in kosovo and jackson is off the grid and faces an uncertain future. you aren't good at this. Look a little deeper than the stars. Kaun was a project big man who'd been playing basketball for 3 years before he came to college. He got drafted by Cleveland and is expected to be brought over next season or the following. Darnell Jackson was the #68 RSCI player (only 10 spots above Shaun Pruitt--how was his NBA career?) and absolutely no one expected him to play in the NBA. Yet he's already spent two years on an NBA roster. Other comparably ranked Weber players include #49 Brian Carwell (Did he survive his stint at UI? I mean "survive" literally.) ANd Brian Randle (#53). WTG BAM! But I'm sure you would rather have him than Self. I've only seen you and IG bitch about wishing Bill had never left about 700 times. Fun fact: Did you know Bill Self has more NCAA Tournament Championships than all the Illinois coaches combined?

  5. So he's a freshman now? I don't mean to be naive, and I know junior high kids or younger are drawing attention now. But it still makes me uncomfortable. He's a sophomore now. Of all the things to make you feel uncomfortable about Kansas recruiting, getting sophomores in HS to committ should be pretty far down the list. If Weber weren't making a living duping 8-year-olds into committing to UI, I guarantee you'd be railing against Self for it. Na, Weber just says he I can help turn you into Deron Williams. Bill can help turn you into Julian Wright or one of the other 5 stars he's got who amounted to crap at the next level. Yep, Deron Williams was headed down the path to nowhere until ol' Bruce coached him up. Nevermind the fact he led the league in assists during conf play as a freshman. I could point out highly rated guys (McBride, Dee Brown) that spent a lot of time with Weber and are currently hooping it up in Kosovo. And I could point out total projects (Sasha Kaun, Darnell Jackson) who got drafted after playing with Self.

  7. According to what I've read, Teague was convinced to go to UK after a personal call from LeBron.
  8. Yep, this is their way of easing into it. 96 teams is why they need cable in the new deal, because CBS isn't going to committ to airing low rated game during the week. I've actually resigned myself to the 96 team tourney, and in some weird way, I started looking forward to it.
  9. On the bright side, Sweet Lou just saved me from dropping 200 bucks on the Extra Innings package.
  10. KU picked up a verbal from 2012 PF Zach Peters out of Plano, TX. Probably not a super elite prospect, more in the top 50-75 of his class when it's all said and done. My guess is he doesn't see much time till his JR/SR year, a la Darnell Jackson. But--and Sulley is gonna love this one--his best friend and teammate is likely a top 5 guy in 2013.
  11. Sulley has you beat hands down. that was the most interesting thing ever written about engineering and you know it
  12. The Dean of the School of Engineering at UI of is a fell being, a sorcerer who exhales swarms of flies and drinks the urine of engineering undergrads from a goblet carved out of Archimedes’ femur. His black faculty robe is stitched with incantations in the pattern of a circuit schematic, and it’s adorned with grim talismans like preserved fetuses harvested from the womb John Glenn’s wife. He only travels by night, and he wears a block cowl woven from the pubic hair of Steve Wozniak to conceal the fact his face is half flash and half polished titanium. It is with the power of his witchcraft that he lures prospective students to UI, and when he can’t fill the ranks of his dark platoon of soulless engineers marching lockstep across the university campus, he provides mercenaries and hessians with assistant ships (cubbiebum) and stipends in the form currency made from dried infant skin, redeemable at any campus bookstore.
  13. No. I think there's always a chance CMA bolts. If the Tigers perform like I think they will over the next two seasons, it'll be hard to keep him at his current price. Is Arkansas Anderson's dream job being a Nolan Richardson disciple? Hard to say. He might relish the chance to succeed his mentor there, or he might not want anything to do with the school that ran his mentor out on a rail. Given his current situation, there'd probably need to be a lot of other incentive to take the job since it's in a worse conference and doesn't have much to offer in terms of program prestige or current talent(that's why they'd be hiring Anderson). I don't think there's very much animosity remaining btw Arkansas and Richardson anymore. I believe I read somewhere the school has made a ton of overtures to Nolan recently. Could be wrong, though. As far as program prestige, I'd put Arkansas above Missouri. Neither school has much of a national reputation for hoops (arkansas used to, but it has faded), but I think Arkansas carries a little clout regionally. Both offer similar advantage in that they're the only big schools in their state. It will also be easier to win in Ark, since their conf sucks. But it would be a reset unlike Mizzou, where he has a little momentum.
  14. Does he feel like the potential lockout is forcing his hand? Someone explain to me--if there is a lockout, what are the options next year for players who are out of eligibility?
  15. That's how I was looking at it too. Didn't see much hope for next season without him. It all depends on the growth of Releford and Johnson, too. If those guys make a leap--which is hardly a stretch--we'll be dangerous. Not MSU or Duke (if Singler stays) dangerous, but we'll have a shot.
  16. Grabbing Selby was huge. Puts us back in the National Title conversation, though probably on the fringe.
  17. I never saw UK as a real player for Selby. (more worried about UT) He never even visited the campus, despite having several opportunities. (Of course, who knows. It's Cal, so maybe he does end up there anyway.) Lamb does sound UK bound. Not so sure about Leslie. he said he wants to visit UF before making a choice. And IG is right. Rivals might have Knight as the #1 player (though there are rumors they'll put Selby there for the final rankings), but the best player in the class is Harrison Barnes. I've been pretty underwhelmed by Knight in the games I saw him play. Not that he isn't good. Just that he's a bit overhyped.
  18. I think those fathers are doing their kids a disservice. Not that they can't make the NBA out of the MAC or Horizon (and not that there aren't good teams in both leagues), but you have to assume they'll get better preparation (and def better exposure) in a high major league.
  19. He's actually pretty good on-air, but please don't let your blind hatred of K get in the way of reality. Carry on. Yikes, dude. he's brutal. I think you're the one being biased.
  20. I hope Derrick Rose Jay Williamses himself it'd be better than pulling a len bias or reggie lewis exalt
  21. That seems like a stretch. Probably depends on what you consider a Championship contender. If they don't get any flops out of Mitchell, P Pressey, and Ratliffe, they'll be bringing back a very talented and extremely deep roster, that would probably be considered a Top 10 team. I'd caution people against having super high expectations for JUCO bigs. They are real hit or miss. For every Taj Gray or JP Batista, there are a million guys who do squat. Also, with the advent of prep schools, the talent at JUCOs isn't nearly as impressive. Today's JUCO POTY just ain't what he used to be.
  22. That seems like a stretch.
  23. Why would they want Rick Stansbury anyway?
