  1. I know I'm playing semantics, but it isn't racist. It's stereotypical and insensitive, but it doesn't espouse the idea that races have different abilities and some races are more valuable than others. I see your point, but if the only way to defend something is by saying "it's not technically racist," it's not a battle worth fighting. The shirt sucks. To get into a semantical argument over whether or not it's racist isn't really the point.
  2. Oh, I agree. A lot of the behavior out there is embarrassing, and should be fixed. But to say that is emblematic of most Cubs fan's behavior is ridiculous. imagine if yankee fans had no titles in the last 100 years. There would be machine gun nests in the bleachers.
  3. You're wrong, and most of your posts are awful. It's a shame you're here.
  4. Cap is dead. He's out of the running.
  5. Brandon Rush now officially entering the draft. Darrell Arthur entering but not signing an agent. He says if goes in the top half, he's gonzo. If not, he might return. http://www2.kusports.com/news/2008/apr/17/rush_arthur_hold_330_pm_press_conference_regarding/?mens_basketball
  6. I dunno. Part of me thinks WOlverine, but I believe the World War Hulk series smashed (pun intended) sales records.
  7. That's pretty cool. I also like how some have a personalized note. In looking over a few of them, Wisconsin doesn't seem to have much direct contact to offer. They ask him to contact his recruiting coach, rather than even giving out Bielema's number. Yeah, that is cool. KU's says "Dear Robert 'Tate'" Seems kind of clumsy. Just call him Tate, right?
  8. I don't see him putting up Deron's numbers. I think deron is the better player. What makes Deron better? Rose is quicker at the same size (6'3" 205 vs. 6'3" 210). Rose is a better finisher. Rose has better court vision. Rose is being compared favorably to Kidd. While Deron is a good passer, he's not Kidd in his prime. I think Deron has a slightly better jumpshot, but I think if you put Rose on this year's Utah Jazz, you probably can't tell them apart aside from "possibly" turnovers in favor of Williams. You think Rose is averaging 19 and 10.5 on 51% from the floor and 39% from three in his rookie season in the nba, even though he averaged 14 and 4.7 on 48% and 37% in college? That's essentially my question. I think it's quite possible Rose will end up better than Deron eventually. But that's quite the leap you're suggesting he'll make. Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but until he's excelled night in and night out against top competition, I'm reluctant to say he'll be immediately as good as Williams. I mean, he had trouble in the half court against Sherron Collins. And while SC is very good, an NBA superstar PG with Rose's size shouldn't have quite as much trouble with him. 1 game sample I agree. But it still could be telling. Overall, though, I'm just not ready to anoint him the second or third best PG in the NBA based on projections and comparisons.

  11. I'm willing to give him a pass due to having a piss-poor coach and a mediocre supporting cast. I don't think he has the kind of "All Time Great" potential you'd hope for out of a #1 overall pick, but I think his floor is that of a solid, yet unspectacular, PF. That is like the biggest myth ever. Bill Walker was the number 7 player in his class. Sutton was also a 5 star prospect. There was plenty of talent there. The coaching did suck, but come on. C'mon, dude. You and I both know: A. Bill Walker has talent, but he's also an extreme head case. He completely disappeared in as many games as he contributed. B. Dominique Sutton averaged 13.5 minutes/game, only played in 19 games, and wasn't really a factor this season. The talent around Beasley just wasn't that good. What little there is was too young to be consistent/effective. That's not to say Rose won't be a better player. He probably will. But it's silly to belittle what Beasley did on the court. I'm also curious to see how Rose will do against NBA quality PGs. He pushed around a lot of smaller guys throughout his college career. He won't be able to just physically dominate NBA guards like that.
  12. I'm sure that's what George wanted to do, but it wasn't his turn. :D From the rumors I have heard he was more interested in watching Ryno play. FWIW, one of my female professors dated him for a while back when she was young and (allegedly) hot.
  13. It's really astonishing. And the idea they might pursue legal action against the guy who did it is equally insane. What would the charges be?
  14. I agree on all counts. I hope the kid bounces back, and it's possible he got jerked around a bit, but in the end, the guy on the field now is better. I still don't understand why T Boone loves Gundy so much as a coach.
  15. I'm sure many have already seen this, but this is an interesting article about Gundy's "I'm a man; I'm 40" rant from the perspective of Bobby Reid, the player in question. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3341578&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab4pos2
  16. 49-4 (37-3 in hoops, 12-1 in football.) Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk. i don't hate ku football so much as i hate ku basketball. i was happy ku was playing in a bcs game, so long as mizzou was in the cotton bowl. but i'm sure my illini will be back, outlasting self's jayhawks in the tourney in the next few years to come. Basketball-wise, the future looks good for both programs. But if we pick up X Henry and Daniel Orton, we might just win it again in 2009. I wonder if you have that good a football year again now that you have to play OU and Texa$? We'll still be good. I expect 8-4, maybe better. What you didn't schedule anyone in the preconference schedule again? I also thought that you lost your best player to the draft. We play at South Florida in the non-con and then 3 gimmes. The vast majority of our two-deep returns. Sure, we lost Talib and Collins, but we have experience and talent ready to step in. People underrate our team from last year. We lost one game at a neutral site to a top five team by 8 points. We'll lose a few more this year--OU & Mizzou, maybe Texas and T-Tech--but our toughest games are at home. I wouldn't expect a terrible season, You'll be disappointed.

  20. Mario goes around the same place Russell Westbrook goes, imo. I kinda hope Westbrook returns solely so I can see how awesome a Westbrook-Jrue Holiday backcourt would be. While I like Chalmers a lot. Wesbrook will go much higher, imo. He is 6'5" and can play the point and has supreme athletic ability. He is all the things that get Hubie Brown and Jay Bilas excited. Length, oh god he has length and upside. ironically, nbadraft.net has him at no. 8 to chicago They could do a lot worse at number 8 than him. They could end up with Roy Hibbert or Brandon Rush. While Rush was a good college player, I want no part of him on my NBA team. There's just no way Rush goes that high. He'll be lucky to crack the teens. He'll be a solid role player in the NBA. Play some D, hit some threes. I agree that Westbrook will go much higher than Chalmers, too. Mario is 6'1", and he hasn't shown the ability to run the point. Russell has, at 6'5".
  21. Early reports are that Darrell Arthur and Mario Chalmers are considering putting their names in. Self has said there's no reason for them not to, though he has recommended they not hire agents. I don't think either player has decided yet, though Arthur seems like a foregone conclusion. I'm having trouble figuring out where Mario would go in this draft. Probably late 1st round. I hope he comes back.
  22. Self to stay at KU. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v604/snoodmonger1/2957028.jpg Also, reports are that Okie State offered Bennett from Wazzu, and he declined as well.
  23.         Don't ever say those words around me again.
  24. That's incredible. I've always thought about making a blog dedicated to collecting those type of videos. This one isn't nearly as cool, but it's from inside the alamodome.
  25. There was a watch party at Allen Field House for the game. This is the vid of the place when Mario hit that shot. Pretty Cool.
