  1. You do know that Chalmers played against the Knicks, right? Just let me have my one day of excitement, ok?
  2. Last year in the week before the Cotton Bowl, Arkansas' defensive backs spent the week telling the media about how Mizzou hadn't faced a real defense or something similar about "SEC speed". Then gameday came and Mizzou laid them to waste. We had a lot of fun finding Matteral Richardson on the field and watching him chase Tony Temple. Matteral Richardson said that? Who is he to talk about SEC speed, getting beat all the damn time? Maybe he'd been telling himself, "In any other conference, I'd be the fastest dude on the field."
  3. Arthur beasted all preseason when he got to play. I see great things in his future. In other news, the Lakers are pretty good at basketball. Any reason Darko is starting?
  4. Mario Chalmers' line: 17 pts, 7 Rebs, 8 Assists, 1 TO. EAT YOUR HEART OUT ROSE. Darrell Arthur: 11 pts, 15 Rebs, Blks.
  5. guys i have a confession. i'm allergic to tough, hard-nosed football. :(
  6. Without having visited them all I can probably guess that West Lafayette is the worst (i've lived in State College and Columbus, went to school in Evanston, and visited Madison, Bloomington and Iowa City) Depends on how you judge Evanston. I've never been to Minnesota or know anyone who has. Other than those 2 possibilities, yeah it's gotta be West Lafayette. my view of Evanston was that the University area was populated by super rich people who hated that the University was there. They passed every law they could to prevent the students from having anything fun to do. when were you in Evanston? It's a lot different than it was in the early 90s. Lots more bars/restaurants, and the downtown area is now a destination spot for those not in the mood to go into the city. Fact is, a lot of Evanstonians DO hate NW. The tax-free pass they get, based on a charter from the stone age, makes the locals have to pay obscene taxes. And the self-entitled, rich students are often not the most pleasant folks. Kellogg business students are notorious a-holes. For the record, I grew up in Evanston, and both my parents went to NW. i know a guy who went to northwestern for undergrad and loved it except for about 90% of the people who went there. the story he always told to give a sense of what a lot of people were like was watching his rich friends get out of a cab (that had brought them from the airport) and just run away from the car and skip the fare. then they defended it by saying the guy was an illegal immigrant and their taxes were paying him too much already. Sounds about right. Like I said earlier, I was the doorguy/"bouncer" at one of the local bars. The Kellogg students (NW's School of Biz) would always come and try to use their student IDs as proof of age. Their reasoning was that it was highly unlikely a Kellogg School of Business graduate student would be under 21. And I agree. But it still didn't count as a legit ID, no matter how logical the argument was. No bar accepts student IDs as a form of identification. So I'd get into this argument 20 times every Tuesday, which was Kellogg night. It was often with the same students every week. They knew I wouldn't accept school IDs, but they still brought them in. And when I'd neg them, they'd actually say stuff like, "I go to Kellogg. In 3 years, I'll be able to buy this bar. And maybe I will, just to fire you." I heard stuff comparable to that ALL THE TIME. Pricks.
  7. haha, i know that's why i wrote prolly not true
  8. Doubt this is true, Raisin, but... http://huskydigest.com/blog/?p=179
  9. Kirk had nice game today, though I noticed the early game haters didn't acknowledge it. People forget he had a few decent years in the league before last year's clunker. He could still add some value, though the Bulls shouldn't hesitate to get out of his contract if they can.
  10. Yeah, the theater/entertainment complex has changed that. And you were lucky there were 8 bars when you were there. Evanston was dry until around 1990 or so. Back then, I imagine it was really rough to be a student w/o a car. I wonder if I ever bounced your narrow ass out of Tommy Nevin's. I worked the door there from 1998-2000.

  12. I've only been to Lawrence, Manhattan, and Columbia. Manhattan is by far the worst of those three. I wasn't a huge fan of Columbia, but I didn't explore it at all. Lawrence is a great college town. Austin is supposed to be the greatest place in the world, according to everyone who's been there. And I hear Boulder is cool. There was an article I read online a few years back that said Lubbock is the worst. The writer described it as "100 miles from Cool," which is geographically accurate, as it's 100 miles from Cool, TX, and, according to him, metaphorically accurate as well. But I also work with a bunch of people from Austin, and they say Waco is worse because of a heavy fundamentalist presence.
  13. yesyesyesyesyes
  14. who cares anymore
  15. huh? kansas is 5-3 after this loss, they only need one more win to be bowl eligible. they should beat ik-state. I forgot it's not longer a rule you have to have 6 wins and be above .500. Still, six wins isn't guaranteed at this point. As overrated as Mizzou was, they're still much better than us. Winning at Nebraska will be tough if we can't stop anyone. KSU...rivalry game.
  16. sigh. we have to beat KSU and win @ NU to be bowl eligible. Prolly don't deserve a bowl anyway.
  17. The Tech defense is not good at all. KU will put up a lot of points, already 7-7. Can't you take Tech out and put any big 12 team in the same spot without being wrong? I would argue that Texas and OU both have good defense, with Texas getting much better every week. Probably won't be able to really tell until the bowl games though. Which is why you are always the two best teams in the conference. Seriously will there even be a punt in the Tech KU game? we punted on our first drive. that may be it, though.
  18. The Tech defense is not good at all. KU will put up a lot of points, already 7-7. We're hardly the '85 Bears, though. I hope we can get some stops. And I hope, when we play UT, we can force at least one incompletion.
  19. well that wasnt a good start
  20. That team that lost to Arizona was the first sign that Roy maybe didn't maximize his talent, or at the least that he was unable to change his system to accommodate his roster. Paul Pierce should have dominated college basketball. And he's good enough to carry a team to a title, especially a team with several other NBA players. Thanks Roy.
  21. I hope you survive the crash though, only to regain consciousness and realize you crashed on Dinosaur Island. Moments later you get eaten by a Spinosaurus.
  22. I hope, right before the plane crashes, someone punches you in the face and breaks your jaw again.
  23. i hope they all die in a plane crash. i didn't even think of this angle. beautiful. I hope youre on the plane too.
  24. i hope they all die in a plane crash.
