that's because a. there are no marginal teams in the Big East. there is one really good team, two good teams, and crap. and b. he just made up this point. there were few games between the two conferences, and their result says nothing about the two conferences. pick your winners Cubs OSU-Louisville UM-WVU/Rutgers UW-Rutgers/WVU South Florida-Penn State I'll even cut out the middle ground Cincy-Iowa Pitt-Northwestern UConn-MSU Syracuse-Illinois pick your winners. cut out two bowl eligible team and an 'up-and-coming getting better faster than anyone expected' Indiana team from the middle of the Big Ten, and the Big Ten still wins 6-7 of those games, five under a worst case scenerio. I'll take that bet. You're looking at the names and not the teams. Hopefully we'll see some games between these teams in the future so they can show the results on the field and not on perception. riddle me this. how have you had time to observe so much Big Ten football when you have been watching so much Big East football? don't be bashful now. pick your winners and show the whole board how absurd your Big East hypothesis is.

if history is any judge, they'll just be in a lose situation no matter who they play. You're history or real history? Out of the last 4 years the Big East has had one of the top records in bowls but once again we don't want facts to get in the way. those wins in the Brillo pad bowl against Big Tree State are really standing up, now aren't they. what's Louisville's recent bowl history again?
-
does a QB from a Big Ten team make a three yard dump off to a back when you need five for the first down and no defender is anywhere near you when playing in OT in the last game of the year for a share of the conference championship? I think not. perhaps that play right encapsulates why this conference is pathetic.

No it doesn't. But on the other hand I don't like 3 or more loss teams getting a shot at the title either. unless it's a Big East team. I wouldn't want a 3 or more loss Big East team to get a shot either. The problem with the loss thing is that you would have teams playing a Wisconsin or Auburn like out of conference schedule and that is why I want these teams to play at least 2 BCS conference teams minimum. what good does that do? you can always line up Kentucky and KState. that proves nothing more than beating SDSU and Bowling Green. Kentucky and Kansas St are good, there's a difference. Good's a relative term. They're both in the bottom half of their conference, 6th or 7th. And they were both bottom feeders when they were scheduled. no, don't you see. bottom half of the power conference teams suck when used to evaluate the power conferences, but are good when evaluating the Big East. the conference as a whole is great because they beat Kentucky and Kansas State, but Wisconsin beating Purdue and Penn State means nothing. And Purdues big out of conference wins are Ball St...hmm...sounds familar, Indiana St, and Miami (O). Penn States are Akron, Young St and Temple while getting blown out by ND. Yep...very tough teams to measure yourself. ah, the shifting the argument technique again. bravo. but I'll play. we were all sooo impressed by Cincinnati's big wins over the Hilltoppers and that same Miami (O) team. and they showed so much spunk getting shallacked by VT and OSU. obviously the Big East is awesome. let me know when you want to argue about this honestly and stop playing seven degrees of Kevin Bacon.

but they aren't good enough right now. sorry, I'm not going to give Louisville props because South Florida might be good in a couple of years. and for pete's sake, how many times does it have to be explained to you that it is not just about the records, it is about who you play. no matter how rosey a picture you try to paint of the conference, the bottom five of the Big East all suck big time, right here, right now, and their non-conference schedule sucks. that's not to say the bottom five of other conferences don't suck, but I'd still take the bottom five of the Big Ten over the bottom five of the 8 team Big East any day of the week. congrats that the Big East beat a few dregs of the ACC and other power conferences. they are still dregs. if the ACC had teams with the BigEast records, it would be teams like Miami, VTech, BC, FSU. teams that have been, you know, good, in the recent past. teams that have quality bowl wins the over the past few years. teams that have great talent, coaching, and facilities. I really think that Cuse does overrate the Big East. I think you underrate them though. Louisville is a Top 5 team. If you were to put their schedule up against Michigans and Floridas it would hold up. Maybe not as tough but certainly was credible. Louisville is a good team. not worthy of a shot at the National Championship, but I will not deny that they are a good team. I don't think top 5, but not much behind there. but Louisville and Louisville alone is not what this is all about. I think I rate the Big East right where they belong and bowl season, depending on matchups of course, will prove me right.

Kansas St and Miami were bottom feeders when the schedules were made? I don't think so. Kentucky has had their struggles. these are the exact tactics you have to use. what the hell does Miami have to do with this? the discussion was about what good does it do to schedule BCS conference teams for your nonconference games if you are going to schedule the dregs of the conferences. props for scheduling Miami, but the disucssion was about KState and Kentucky. you don't have a dog in this fight, so through a lion into the ring.

AND THERE IT IS!! HAMILTON WITH THE HAT TRICK!!!

way to grind out a point here. converted with the goalie pulled with 33.7 on the clock. now go get that second point!

Urban Meyer is a douchebag extraordinaire. Ive learned that tonight. At least he wants a playoff. who doesn't want a playoff? maybe JoePa? everyone wants a playoff. me more than ever because it would shut you up about the Big East. Or you about the Big 10. I'd be glad to take my chances, but I don't know why you confine your statement to the Big 10. my arguments with you on this subject are not only about the Big 10. they are about the SEC and the Pac 10. the Big 12 and ACC in most years.
-
Nah, it's an exciting win for the Gators. I think the voters are going to pitch Michigan out and send Florida to the title game. I've heard him a couple times on little cuts like that, and it's always the same.

Florida's radio announcer needs a kick in the head.

Honestly I see all 3 teams as having something different to offer. I simply do not understand why people dismiss Louisville. They lost 5 games in the last 3 years. When everyone else understands, but you don't, what does that tell you? That I'm in Big 10 land. The polls determine way too much and assume too much. Tradition gets the nod every time in college football. Every time. Also, when I here the Big East sucks it just means that you don't understand football. I've been going by the actual games while you are going with the traditional arguement. Trust me, you guys are happier with the system the way it is because it's in your favor. The PAC 10 has the same problems and that's why USC has to schedule all those tough teams out of conference. the Pac 10 has it's own poll dedicated to over ranking every single team in the conference (Seattle Times). they are not treated unfairly in any respect. how many years in a row do we have to watch Oregon and Cal start in the top 10 only to lose 3-4 games apiece?
-
More facts....thanks. JD Power and associates says the Big East is junk. Wow! Your "facts" are simply opinions. Yet you can't see it. Like I said, start beating the best and you'll get your due. Until then, nope. Ball State says hello. Kentucky, Temple, Miami, KState, MidTenn, Cincy, Syracuse, S.Fla, Pitt and UConn say goodnight.
-
doesn't it tell you something when you are using KState to build your case? so you want to rely on computer polls. why not acknowledge that Michigan will be number 2 in the computer polls tomorrow and Florida probably 3, which perfectly jibes with the evil 'good old boys' that are conspiring to hold the Big East down.
-
if SEC coaches would preach discipline, they'd have 6 teams in the top 10. but they don't, so you get these fabulous atheletes playing ridiculous games like this one were watching here.
-
im glad gary d. isnt doing big ten games anymore. vern is kinda cool. kinda like keith jax. Bill Simmons' latest column was right with regards to modern attitudes of announcers. These guys act like we're watching the game for them rather than for the game itself. There are some times these guys should clam up. My personal favorite is when they start crying about a penalty and the replay shows it was completely justified...so they either have to stand by it and look like tools or go back on it and equally look like tools. My personal favorite moment of that was when Sean Taylor spit on some one last year in the NFL playoffs and got ejected, only it was not clear at first that he hocked a loogy at the guy. Of course, Paul Maguire and Joe Theismann were going ape over him getting kicked out, talking over the ref who explained why he kicked Taylor out, and missing out on the explanation altogether. Good times, good times. Troy Aikman's varying definitions of pass interference says hi.
-
And if the good old boys keep their teams in the big game we'll never know will we? Let's play on the field and not in the polls. LOL, somewhere deep inside I know you realize these things you say about Big East teams are ridiculous. Why? You assume it to be not true. Why does Michigan get a chance to play Ohio State twice? These teams play just 12 games, how do they get a chance for a rematch? Let someone else get their shot. Just tell me that. I tell you what. If the Big East wants to be considered on the same level as the SEC, Big 10, and Pac 10, then do what everyone has done to raise their level of respect. Start scheduling games against Ohio State. Start scheduling games against USC, Florida, Michigan. Start actually beating the best on a regular basis, and you might get more respect. The Big East is not considered a power conference. The onus is on THEM to prove otherwise, not the rest of the country. or, as I pointed out in a different thread on the same subject, start to play good teams in bowl games, and when you don't get a matchup against a good team from a good conference, maybe you should win the game instead of losing to the Colorado States of the world.
-
I've said they were over rated all along. Louisville is the team that should be in the game vs Ohio State. my gawd will you give it a rest already. every damn week. Louisville should sniff the jocks of a second tier big conference school. it has nothing to do with good old boys, it has nothing to do with unfairness. it has to do with refusal to play defense and a style of offense that would not fly in a real conference. Seriously, it's because you give me no good arguement to think other wise. Saying "they suck" really proves so much to me. whatever. you've been given good arguments for 15 weeks now and still live in your fairy tale world. your best argument all year has been that Louisville beat K-state with a backup QB.
