Any GM whose chief offensive concern is "timely hitting" has absolutely no buisiness making personnel decisions for a professional baseball club. (Competitive or otherwise.) Aside from the first two points (which aren't bad) that's a plan for mediocrity even in the best of circumstances. It also the plan that won the world series for 4 of the last 5 years. The plan that won 4 of the last WS was 1 and 2. Three through five do not factor in to the equation. And five is bordeline neglagence, becuase it is the absence of a plan. -

Floyd is more of a LFer. He has only played a handful of games in RF. However, I could see Hendry placing him in RF. Floyd is the streakeist of streaky hitters. If the Cubs get him we will have to live with the prolonged slumps in between hot streaks. -
There's a reason five organizations rid themselves of Milton Bradley, and it's not because of his baseball ability. Dumb move. Five organizations? Montreal traded him because they were getting Zach Day, both were good prospects at that point. Cleveland traded him because they had Sizemore coming and he was arbitration eligible, in addition to his off field problems. Bradley's only been with 3 organizations, and this would be the only one to get rid of him for solely behavioral issues. Nope. I've already mentioned his behavior issues he had in Cleveland, his attitude problem in Anaheim with Mike Scoiscia are well known, and now the Dodgers are getting rid of him, BECAUSE OF HIS ATTITUDE and character flaws. It's likely that Montreal traded Bradley away for the same reasons, just that his incidents in Montreal aren't public. But hey, if you still want the guy despite of his thugish attitude, there's nothing else I can say. Or maybe just one more thing: Police have responded to the Redondo Beach home of Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Milton Bradley three times this summer on domestic violence calls, including one instance in which he allegedly choked his pregnant wife, bloodied her lip and hurled a cellular telephone into a wall. http://www.dailybreeze.com/news/articles/1705006.html Bradley never played for the Angles. All I have to say is that Walker must be a real jerk or something for him to be treated this way. All he has done is play well for the Cubs and his reward is the signing of Perez to take his spot (if the Cubs land Furcal).

That is exactly right Jon. Hendry seems to pride himself of loyalty. He pays for past performance. That is not a good trait for a GM.

Is it really over reacting to a pattern that repeats itself? I agree with you that it's only November but Hendry is continuing to do things the same way he always has and is expecting different results. Examples? Todd Hollandsworth, Jeromy Burnitz, Neifi Perez, Antonio Alfoseca, etc. ad infinitium.

If Hendry is using Neifi to lure Furcal, he is a worse GM than what I thought he was. That is very bad business and stupid baseball. Shouldn't the lure to Chicago be playing for great fans in a historic ballpark and making crapload of money?

Of the players labeled malcontents, how many were considered malcontents prior to their arrival in Wrigleyville? None! Me thinks that Dusty breeds malcontentia. Wasn't it the same year that Bonds and Kent got into a cat fight that the Giants went to the World Series? No doubt. I'm trying to think like I think Hendry thinks. If you know what I mean :D

IMO, there is no way Hendry even thinks about getting Bradley, no matter how much some of us want him too. Try putting yourself in Hendry's position: 1: He has a young CF that might have been brought up this year if he had not be hurt- I didn't like the idea, but if one believes the media it was true. 2: he spent all last year ridding the team of supposed malcontents that Mr. Playersmanager couldn't control. I would be more than shocked if Bradley becomes a Cub.
