    I'm laughing on the outsdie but crying on the inside. Hendry says it is going to be via the trade route. I hope he has a blockbuster brewing on the back burner b/c the hot stove, she aint so hot.

    That is hilarious! Baldeli is my CFer and Harvey is in right. Caberra is in LF. I traded him for Wood in 2007. Pie is my 4th OFer. Which one is Ryan Harvey in the game? I made him because I am God in my fantasy PS2 world. And I saw to it that he was good. :sunny:

    No. That is who he is saving Lastings for. At one time I thought Manny to the Mets was a sure thing. Now I'm not as confident. But I still think it is a good bet.

    IIRC, Delgado had no interest in playing for the Mets. Delgado showed no interest in wanting to be traded this year either. Should be interesting to see how this plays off. Could he cause some problems in that clubhouse? IRRC, I think it had something to do with beying lamblasted by the NY media for not standing during the signing of that crappy God Bless America song. Omar is building a Latin oriented club that will appeal to NYs large and expanding Latin population. If he can get Manny turned around it will be all salsa all the time.

    Petit is going to be very good. Is the 1st baseman Brazille? Here me now and believe me later, the Las Vegas Gamblers are going to be very, very good. I think Petit's going to be one of those pitchers who have tremendous minor league numbers that becomes a 4th starter in the bigs. Control issues?

    I don't think Omar is stupid at all. I think he is doing a good job of being a GM of a big market team. Delgado really solidifies that line up. If they sign Wagner and get Hernandez for behind the plate they have the makings of a division challenger. They still need some more bullpen help and another starter, but they have a ton 'o dough and a new TV network. Just my two cents.

    My question is: Who exactly is bidding for Giles services? NYY- Not according to the latest reports. Even if so, he isn't answering phone calls. StL- Not according to the latest reports SD- They gave him an offer he could refuse, and he did. ChC- Who is Giles? So who are the bidders and where is the war. Or is this a Cold War type of war. If so, I want Hendry banging his shoe at the podium in the UN saying, "If we get Giles we will burry you."

    Before he went to NY and flopped people talked about him like they are talking about Burnett this year. Vasquez is a good pitcher. But Yankee inflation has made him not worth the contract.

    Why can't baseball players just come out and say it? This is ridiculous. He makes over 9 mil a year, I'm not sure Chicago is any closer to PR than Arizona, even if it is, I doubt there's any money consideration in terms of cost to visit home. I have little respect for people that can't come out and say what the mean or what they want. Why can't he just come out and say "I didn't sign with AZ, I don't like the direction the franchise is going, I don't want to play here anymore." Yea, remember when Hampton signed with the Rockies? It was for the great schools like Columbine. It wasn't for the money.

    goony beat me to it. I'd like to add that I also think that if the Cubs don't win soon there will be some changes made for change sake. If Hendry and Dusty go I wouldn't be surprized if one of Z or Prior would be traded simply b/c the new GM needs to make "his bones".

    Heh. Quentin is awesome. Yes, he played in 3 hitter's havens along the way to the big leagues (Lancaster, El Paso, Tucson), but he's still a very good hitter with great pitch selection. I wish he were a Cub. He also tears up the major leagues in MVP '05 in the yeaar 2008.

    The Astros and Dodgers should have been scared in 2004, when the Cards averaged over 5 runs per game in the playoffs against them. The Padres should have been scared in 2005, when the Cards averaged 7 runs per game against them in the playoffs. To say "they don't scare anybody" is just foolish. They scare the hell out of me. And will scare me even more if they get Giles. It's like freaking Holloween it is so scary.

    I agree. Having lived in Miami I can tell you that Loria has been trying to do this for a long time. Some in the community, the radio personality Hank Goldberg has been all over Loria for his less than fan friendly ways. In 2003, their World Champoinship year, They didn't even print a media guide or programs in time for opening day. Loria and his son in law have been trying to get the City to pay for a ball park for years. Just one other fun fact from my time in Miami. In 2001 during a game in late August when the team was out almost all of the five or so thousand fans started chanting, "Less go Jankees" every time the Yankees score came up on the board. IIRC, the Marlins where playing the Dodgers that night.

    Or it could be a sign that Hendry will resign Burnitz and keep Patterson in CF. DISCLAIMER: I'm not saying that is what will happen

    I'd understand Hendry's thinking if he included Pie as part of a package for Abreu, but I don't think Bobby would make them favorites, and I'd much rather see them sign Giles and hang on to Pie. So much is up in the air in terms of the Cubs outfield right now, I have no idea when Pie will be up. I would understand Hendry's thinking if he didn't trade Pie, as well. I'd rather have Giles too, he only costs money. I tend to think Pie will be up in 2007. But I am a bit worried about his numbers in the DR this winter. Maybe he is tired. This whole sorry debate appears to be largely academic as there are no indications that Hendry is doing anything with regard to the sucking chest wound that is right field. I hope he has one more blockbuster left in him.

    Do you think the Cubs are an Abreu away from winning the World Series in the next couple years? Yes. I also think Pie has a chance to be a speical player. I wouldn't just trade him away for anyone. I am interested though, what do you think Pie's numbers will look like his rookie season? Will that season be 2006 or 2007? edit add: as I stated previously, with Abreu, Lee, Rameriz the cubs have a top 5 middle of the order. if they put a couple of guys in front of them who can get on base they have the makings of a championship offense. With the starting pitching and a little luck form the pen they have the makings of a division winning pitching.

    Pujols hit .329/.403/.610 in his first season, a better OPS+ than Abreu has ever posted in his career. Do you expect those numbers from Pie in his first year in the bigs? Do you expect Pie to be a 30/30 guy with an OBP of 330+? In his first year do you expect pie to have a SLG of even cloes to .500? If so, when do you expect him to be and everyday MLer? Abreu brings all that right now. And how does this relates to your incorrect statement about Abreu being a better hitter than Pujols at the start of Albert's career? It doesn't but this thread is not about any incorrect comparison I made to Albert and Abreu it is about the idea of trading Pie. I didn't know you where that much into pissing contests. A pissing contest? That's great. You're the one that brought Albert's rookie production into this, and your incorrect statement seemed directed at dismissing Pie's chances at being an impact bat his rookie season. In his rookie year do you expect Pie to post numbers similar to Albert in his rookie year? Do you expect him to post simialr numubers to what Abreu posted for the last three years? If so when do you expect Pie will be playing for the Cubs and producing those numbers?
