  1. In all fairness to him, it's a tough road to plow. But yeah, I don't think he's done a very good job to this point.
  2. Yeah, the thing about Happ, Suzuki, and even Belli is that they are good players to have on a team, but not good enough that they are going to fetch a return for anything other than a lottery ticket or an underproducer with a pedigree. The Cubs are less than the sum of their parts right now due to injuries, underperformance, bad luck (oh my!!), and maybe not bad management, but bad accountability (I don't know). They certainly can turn things around. The ASB might be just what the Dr. asked for. Rest, relax, reset.
  3. They kind of remind me of when I used to put Lego stuff together with my son. Even following the directions, we'd inevitably make a mistake around step 4 and not figure it out until step 22 and then have to take everything apart and start back again. I believe that is where the Cubs will be by the deadline. Only they don't have much to trade out or in that will make a difference right now.
  4. I guess? But if he's hurt it seems to make more sense to put him IL. I don't see any advantage to playing a 70% Nico with a broken hand. The risk of further injury outweighs the benefit. Obviously, we don't know the full medical diagnosis.
  5. Not that anyone can answer this question, but why would the Cubs wait to IL Nico and have Vazquez shadow following the Cubs and not on any roster?
  6. For personal reasons (the Smokes don't come to Montgomery until the middle of July), I want Shaw and Mo to stay in AA.
  7. This post should be framed and hung in the Louver as the apex Derwood post.
  8. Not a 4 four game sweep is better than one by one.
  9. Counsell doing his best Ross impressions by leaving Imanaga in to pitch to failure
  10. Can Counsell protest to make them keep Montas on the mound?
  11. You think things have to change then Belli hits a 300 MPH ball right at the 1st baseman
  12. Yeah, the problem is that they have a bunch of singles and doubles hitters.
  13. Boy was I wrong about my prediction about him.
  14. It’s a business model. Jed is the COO of the product line. His job is to make the best product he can within the limits of the profit margin. He’s just not real good at that because he keeps “making” the same players, more or less. Ian Happ is the mold. He came up a middle infielder. There in nothing necessary wrong with that. But it’s hard to make it a winning team. You need good pitching and good defense. They have only part of that. The Ricketts aren’t going to pay or “amortize” a contract like the Phillies owner will. They almost did that once and it scared the 💩 out of Tommy Boy and his sibs.
  15. Steele pitched really well. They can’t get hitting and pitching in the same game. Defense is awful.
  16. India looks like an extra from a civil war movie
