  2. i can call some people.... funny story - I watched the game at a friend's apartment near downtown b/c they have cable through D&E (which has the B10 network). A guy was there who said that his girlfriend TA'ed Morelli his sophomore year, and she said that it seemed like he struggled to put any sentence together that was more complicated than "Hi my name is Anthony Morelli." I've now heard from multiple people that he is a moron, and given his decision-making on the field, it's not hard to believe.
  3. it would be a good thing if anthony morelli never set foot on the field again
  4. other things you can tack onto the "bad": -he gives up a lot of home runs, and given his repertoire, this probably isn't going to change -he doesn't help himself much outside of the pitching - he's a lousy fielder, lousy bunter, lousy hitter and isn't good at holding runners That said, his positives far outweigh the negatives, and I'm happy with the year he had.
  5. thank you for writing hawai'i... one of my goals in life is to get everyone to do this
  6. after this weekend, i think we can safely say that every conference sucks and every team is bad
  7. MVP AL: A-Rod MVP NL: Hanley Ramirez Cy Young AL: Sabathia Cy Young NL: peavy Gold gloves: whatever NL ROY: Ryan Braun AL ROY: Daisuke AL Comeback POY: Carlos Pena NL Comeback POY: Geovany Soto
  8. I don't think he'll go and he shouldn't go. After this season USF will come up with the money to keep him there. He has it made there. He has the hottest new program in the country and couldn't be in a better place for recruiting. They've recently been giving him the resources and he's got that thing rolling. He's in a good but not great BCS conference. Plus he doesn't have to deal with super-high expectations. It's funny, five years back when Ferentz was really looking into the Jaguars job I was told that IF Kirk left, Jim Leavitt was a guy identified as a top target. I had no idea who he was at the time but he spent 10 years in Iowa and was a grad assistant under Hayden Fry. He's turned down some interest in the last couple of years and I think he would be crazy to go anywhere now. I agree with just about everything you say, but it's tough for anybody to say no when they're offered double or triple their current salary. If someone throws a $3M per year offer at Leavitt, will USF find more money to keep him there - say an extra million? I'm not sure.
  9. lawl what a collapse
  10. that'd be great, UCLA scores three touchdowns without the Oregon St offense even getting on the field.
  11. btw jim leavitt (USF coach) is going to be targeted by just about any major program with an opening this offseason. Will he go? I dunno.... he is the only coach they've ever had and has said he wants to stay, but the big boys could double or triple that $1M salary. I hope he stays, because losing him would be a big hit to a program that was built really well from the ground up.
  12. West Coast offense is fine if you have the right personnel... if you don't then it sucks. My picks in a confidence pool I do: 15 USC - up 14-7 14 OU - Bust 13 Rutgers - Bust 12 Florida - losing 14-0 at the half 11 Texas - Mega bust 10 TCU - up 24-6 in the 4th 9 Virginia - up 36-14 in the 4th 8 BYU - up 14-0 in the 2nd 7 Wisconsin - win 6 Syracuse - bust 5 Oregon - bust 4 PSU - bust 3 Air Force - bust 2 Bama - bust 1 Ga Tech - yay! Brutal. I've already lost 58 points, and if Florida loses then I'm getting -20 this week.
  13. my bad, Arizona has won the West b/c if SD wins tomorrow, even if Arizona loses the #1 seed and WC come out of the West, and Arizona has the tiebreaker. The only way the Cobs don't play Arizona is if SD loses tomorrow while the Mutts and Phils both win, and then SD loses the free-for-all that would be played Monday/Tuesday.
  14. can't believe things are so up in the air with ONE day left. If San Diego beats the Brewers tomorrow, then the Wild Card will come out of the West, as will the team with the best NL record. The WC can't play a team in their division in the first round, so the winner of the West will play the division-winning team with the worst record, which will be the Cubs. The only way this doesn't happen is if the Padres lose and Mets/Phillies win, because then there would be a tie for first in the NL East and a tie for the Wild Card. I don't feel like thinking about what would happen after that b/c it would probably give me a headache.
  15. steve goodman is rolling in his grave
  16. man today has been a bloodbath... my picks were atrocious
  17. nice game by colt mccoy... maybe kansas is the best team in the big xii
  18. geovany soto
  19. swap the scores of the two games... then yes
  20. oh hey look sean marshall can get people out...maybe we should've had him in the rotation in september
  21. if the cubs are down 2-0 in the series, you gotta pitch hill in game 3... go with the guy who gives you the better chance of extending the season.
  22. especially for $400k
  23. that's a shame. Maybe it will help his eyesight.
  24. they're both out of the picture... just b/c OU announcer didn't say that doesn't mean it's not the case
  25. one-pitch rich
