  1. couldn't happen to a worse guy... well maybe it could, but with the way havlat conducts himself on the ice, i'm thinking some of these injuries are karmic justice What does Havlat do? Early reports are that he is out most of the year. intentionally high sticked mark recchi in the head when he was on the senators. He also has been suspended multiple times for kicking. Basically he plays a little guy's game but mixes in some real cheap shots... then when other teams go after him he hides on the bench or one of his goon teammates will take the hit for him.
  2. If you were the owner of an NFL franchise, and you had to choose between myself - who has neither played for nor worked for any football team at any level - or Norv Turner, who would you choose? In my defense, I will say that I do follow a lot of football, and would be very willing to delegate responsibilities to my capable assistant coaches. And, I also would argue most random people off the street could not have blown up the Chargers as quickly as Norv has done.

  4. nah, the indians aren't a moneyball team. the a's lost because moneyball doesn't work in the playoffs.
  5. boy if the cubs, phillies and yankees all lose, i'll really have no interest in the rest of the playoffs. (I'd probably watch to root against the yankees)
  6. indians should have more than 1 run, they've definitely cubbed up some good scoring opportunities
  7. looks like a-rod is still choking... get the ny tabloids ready
  8. exactly... most of us realize it's over, but i guess if you're a fan of teams that actually win and do well, you don't really see things the same way
  9. Exactly. That's the type of reaction you see in the Little League World Series from 10 year old, not a grown up MLB player. If a White Sox or Cards player threw his glove down like Lilly, this thread would be over 30 pages long and ripping the dude to shreds. uh yeah not really, i don't think anyone would give a crap.
  10. he looked terrified? he didn't look like anything to me. he looked like he always does, like a serial killer with a chopped-up prostitute in his trunk.
  11. i guess it just depends how well she knows snood. I could see a girl busting my chops about the Cubs if she didn't know they were really important to me. But yeah, any girl (or any guy for that matter) who knows me well, knows not to give me crap when one of my teams loses in excruciating fashion. If she knew the Cubs were important to snood, then yeah she pretty much sucks.
  12. well okay, i'm just saying that she kinda sucked for busting your chops about it, but maybe she just didn't that you'd be as upset as you are. She at least seemed apologetic in the end. Maybe it can be a mutual apology, sorry we got pissed at each other, let's go eat food and then engage in intimate physical activity. Plus I just want you to get together with someone so that we can get more stories like the edible body paint story.
  13. Ugh, I was thinking how horrible they were when TBS would give us the 1-2 punch of their commercials. dane cook easily... frank caliendo is being driven into our heads and that's not really his fault; he is really good at impressions and I do find a lot of his stuff funny. Dane Cook, on the other hand, is not funny, steals jokes from other people, and got to make out with Jessica Alba despite being a talentless hack.
  14. I logged out at that point. Looks like that one's a lost cause. Is she hot? actually, yes. she's very attractive. you got some apologizing to do then... lost your cool, sorry about that, etc.
  15. What the hell is wrong with you? He was angry at himself about throwing a meatball to the batter, and on the spur of the moment he slammed his glove to the ground. I'm pretty sure he didn't think about it beforehand and say "okay if I throw a bad pitch here then I'm gonna hurl this glove into the dirt." It just happened. You seem to be saying that he didn't really care that much about his teammates or competition, which makes zero sense given that he reacted so strongly to giving up the lead. His poor performance after the home run wasn't because he lost his cool; he was pitching like crap the whole way through. But yeah I guess you're probably right, Lilly just stopped trying after he gave up that home run.
  16. Exactly why I made it. I have a feeling it'll soon be an NSBBism on the scale of "Moran" i was thinking that this will symbolize the failure of the 2007 cubs. 2003 symbol(s): Bartman, girl crying 2004 symbol(s): Latroy Hawkins
  17. no, he's a soft-tossing lefty and the cubs went right back to their old ways of flailing away and helping out the pitcher. Though to be fair Davis gave up a few rockets that were right at people, and I think he allowed 9 baserunners in 5.2 innings, which isn't good.
  18. well at least 17 people are wrong now
  19. I hope this doesn't come out the wrong way; because it's not meant to be condescending in any way shape or form. In fact, if anything, I see it as condescending towards men..however: That is the total womans response. You act as if I actually sat there and thought "Well, gee, I think I'm going to pick up the cup setting next to me and slam it into the floor like i just scored the super-bowl-winning touchdown." It was a reaction. Aram grounded into the double play, before I even had a chance to think i had the cup in my hand and it was shattered on the floor. Maybe women (as a generalization..there are obviously multiple exceptions) are able to think more clearly in situations like this than are men (as a generalization..there are obviously many exceptions). Or maybe just the fact that I've poured my heart and soul into this team for as long as i can remember induces some strong feelings. hey, if you're allowed to look down on people for getting drunk, she should be allowed to look down on you for breaking stuff
  20. yeah this is what i had the biggest problem with. In the most important AB of the night you let Z hit, then when he gives up a leadoff baserunner you pull him? What kind of foresight is that??? If you hit with him there, you commit to keeping him in the game unless he totally is losing it. If you think you'll be taking him out soon, then you use your best pinch hitter in the key spot. It's either/or. It really was a poor decision by Lou.
  21. no, this is the best train wreck ever: http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/thumb/8/8c/300px-Train_wreck_at_Montparnasse_1895.jpg
  22. yes, marquis is a disaster. Fortunately we won't have to worry about such things after saturday.
  23. i through a laundry hamper into the wall and made a big hole in 2003... after 2004 i just started expecting that the cubs would lose, and now i don't get upset any more.
