  1. i guess we'll find out how bad they are when they play in a bcs bowl later this season
  2. the anti-cubs. i'm sure it's just a coincidence that the red sox have the best team in baseball too.
  3. i didn't even know we were talking about AAA. the thing is, cedeno probably will hit better at that level because he's more talented than theriot. However, cedeno has a poorer approach at the plate and will chase more balls outside the zone, which big league pitchers have been able to exploit to a great degree. So I have no confidence that big-league Ronny can perform anywhere close to the way he's played in Iowa.
  4. hey those toothpicks don't pay for themselves!
  5. I feel quite comfortable saying Ronny could've put up a .367/.379 line in AAA '06. I don't, he doesn't walk enough to have a .367 OBP.
  6. you're thinking of someone else. Rashard Casey maybe? Michael Robinson never got in any legal trouble as far as I know; if he did, it definitely wasn't serious enough to result in a suspension from the school.
  7. that was justified, i wouldn't have complained if it was even longer. However, the downie suspension was too long. However, I have to ask why the penalties to Chris Simon and Jesse Boulerice are of equal length. Wasn't Simon's infraction much more serious? no, they were pretty much the same play. okay, IMO well swinging a stick at someone's head is worse than cross checking them in the face
  8. unfortunately for orioles fans, the biggest problem with that organization is the one person who can't be fired
  9. as long as jim hendry, ned coletti and bill bavasi are involved in baseball, there's no reason not to shoot for the stars

  12. Am I wrong but has Penn St gone down hill in terms of quality of individual that plays football for them? You used to never here about Penn St kids getting in trouble. Now it seems they are just as bad as everyone else. I certainly dont mean this as an attack against Penn St. I may be wrong. I just remember Penn St having a reputation of being really classy. I can think of several different incidents in the last 5 or 6 years now involving Penn St players. yeah i guess there have been more, but some are overblown. Like recently there were 3 or 4 players cited for underage drinking.... well if that makes them "bad kids" then I guess a lot of us were bad apples in college. But no, I don't think you get the off-the-field problems with Penn State like you do at Miami or Florida State or Ohio State. Penn State's generally are minor and alcohol-related... you don't commonly hear about theft or fraud or assault, though this is an exception. I guess the bottom line is, if you're trying to put together a team of perfect kids, your team is going to suck. To compete on the national level you're going to have to take some chances, and maybe you'll get burned. As for Austin Scott, without passing judgment on the recent incident, he's been an incredible waste of talent. He came to school as one of the most highly-touted RBs to enroll here, and he was definitely more talented physically than Tony Hunt - but Hunt started ahead of Scott each year. It's been rumored that Scott parties a lot and has a poor work ethic in practice and in the weight room, which would explain why he's been in Joe's doghouse for 4+ years. Regardless of whether he is guilty of what he's accused of, there's no excuse for being up at 4 AM when you have a game in 36 hours.

  14. Compared to what we're getting from Theriot? I like the riot, but he just didn't bring his game consistently this year. He had a great month when we were hot, and he was definitely a spark then. If Soriano continues to lead off, DeRosa should be hitting 2nd, not 5th/6th. That's why we need to figure out a decent option for RF who can hit in the middle of the order. Cedeno will not hurt us hitting 8th behing Soto. I think the consensus is that neither are good enough, and that we need to go outside the system for a SS. But if it comes down to Theriot vs. Cedeno, I'd go with Ronny. Ryan was just awful for the last 2 months of the season. and ronny was worse for five months of 2006.
  15. Are you saying this because you want it to happen or are you serious? As a Red Wing fan, absolutely not. I just threw it out there for fun. I did hear his name rumored with another job this off season. Maybe he is interested in coming back in some capacity. That would suck. In what way. If he went to the Hawks. I think he was rumored to be going to the Leafs in some way. I wish he never quit coaching the Wings. Of course I am sure the Blues, Canadians, Sabres and Penguins fans all feel the same way. yes, it was rumored that he was offered the president position by the maple laffs, but both he and the organization denied it. I don't know that Scotty is interested in coming back into hockey as a president or GM, but I do know that he hasn't ruled it out.
  16. well, looks like i don't need to worry about austin scott fumbling the ball away any more: http://www.centredaily.com/news/local/story/231851.html

  21. i had 1150. btw you had marquis' ERA wrong, it was 4.60 not 4.43.
  22. I've heard multiple news outlets report somewhere between 10000 and 12000 tickets remaining for the two games. And even if it is only 3000 or 4000, it's still pathetic that they haven't sold out already. Tons of media outlets have been completely wrong. I was listening to the sports radio here when they had Josh Byrnes come on and laugh at the fact that some were saying 12,000 were left. If they don't sell out, I don't think many are going to lose sleep, unless you're going to keep on going on about how pathetic it is and how others are saying that they don't deserve to be here cause of the fans and the Cubs do because their fans are better.. edit:not trying to be a prick, just think this is blown way out of proportion. IF you've followed baseball, especially the playoffs through the years, it's known the dbacks don't do good with selling tix unless playing a team with a big fan base. nobody is saying that the cubs "deserve" to be there - the d'backs do because they played better than the cubs - but it's sad that the small and rather apathetic fanbase of the d'backs gets to enjoy more postseason baseball, but the large and passionate fanbase of the cubs gets another kick in their collective crotch.
  23. i needed a pick-me-up this morning, so i listened to this. bwahahaha
