.340??!? I think he could very easily have John Olerud-like production. In his best years he'll hit around .340. john olerud hit .363 once (.375 BABIP), .354 once (.373 BABIP), and then his next best year was .302. he just happened to have two amazingly fluky years. that being said, john olerud was a very good to great player over the course of his career, and if barton has a career that good, his teams will be very happy with him. olerud didn't get a lot of attention because he had more doubles power than homers, and wasn't especially prolific in the RBI department, but he was an on base machine and played outstanding defense at first base. he really should be remembered as a great player more than he is.
