  1. i saw jason motte pitch for the state college spikes
  2. lopez is hitting .382/.435/.539 since being released by washington and signing with the cards. if your career is floundering and needs a jump start, just sign on with the cards and parlay that into a nice contract offer. then go back to sucking ass.
  3. What sort of weather are you expecting Ike to create in Tampa on Sunday? yeah if ike is in tampa on sunday, my forecast will really be a bust.
  4. well he was the director of baseball development in 2004-05, so i guess he inherited it from himself. you're really missing the point on this; it's not a lifetime achievement award. well we will have to agree to disagree on who should win it. as for who WILL win it, andrew friedman.
  5. and paul bako completely blows it. can't believe that guy has been the starting catcher for dusty baker's reds, that is such a joke.
  6. Apparently, theres 1. They were just messing with you. no, that's JeffH's vote.
  7. wow i did not see this one coming. the bears are not who i thought they were.
  8. btw i don't think i can remember the last time i saw such a joyous reaction to an injury. people at work, people on this board, etc. you'd think that tom brady was a serial rapist and the patriots were owned by al qaeda.
  9. They said during tonight's game that they're calling de-spleened Chris Simms. I forgot all about him, that could be a move that actually pays off well. anybody's better than cassell. how do we know this? he hardly played at usc and has hardly played as a pro. he might stink, but i don't think we have enough evidence either way.
  10. well he was the director of baseball development in 2004-05, so i guess he inherited it from himself.
  11. That's true, I'm a moron. If the Cubs haven't clinched a playoff spot by the second to last game of the season, we have more problems than where Rich Hill is starting in the NLDS. actually if he's starting in the NLDS, that's probably our biggest problem.
  12. http://d.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20080907/capt.d7b86a96dbcd408b86478a26c98422f4.cowboys_browns_football_ohmd101.jpg tomorrow: david stern announces 2-game suspension of lebron james for violating the nba personal conduct policy.
  13. i bet everyone thought the pats were sunk when blesdoe got hurt and brady had to come in. Do you have faith in Matt Cassell? i don't really know. i'm sure everyone thought a 6th round pick coming in for a pro bowl qb would be a complete disaster. even if cassel is mediocre, if he's able to make the right decisions, i think he can look pretty damn good behind a great offensive line and with great wide receivers.
  14. i bet everyone thought the pats were sunk when blesdoe got hurt and brady had to come in.
  15. if brady did indeed blow out his knee, the chargers need to fire norv turner immediately. they can definitely win the afc with a competent coach.
  16. has anyone started http://www.firenorvturner.com yet?
  17. lol chargers down by 6 against carolina. nice to see norv has them ready to play again this year.
  18. Wait, a .742 OPS is "bordering .800"? I meant OPS in general, which is .797, which is in fact bordering .800. yes but you're arguing that he should play full time, meaning that he should play against RHP, so his overall OPS is pretty irrelevant in supporting your argument.
  19. the cowboys' offensive line is really good :x
  20. As the great Woody Paige likes to say on that crappy show "Around the Horn" "LOOK AT THE SCHEDULE!!" The Cubs play a solid Cardinals team who they should beat 2 out of 3. They play a Houston team that leads the season series against us. They play a good Mets team. They play a good Brewers team. These are the teams (the Reds) that the Cubs are suppose to beat and they failed to do so and it's making us all worried. I don't know how anyone is not a little bit nervous about this team. I'm just glad the Brewers picked now to go on a long slump because it's saved us for now. I still personally think this team will make the playoffs but it is going to be much harder than I originally thought. if you want to completely invalidate the argument that you're about to make, always start out the post by quoting woody paige. seconded. my foe list has tripled in the last few days, i think.
  21. he behaviored his way out of town. i hate this criteria, because it basically gives no reward to a gm who has built his team cost-effectively through the farm system. i think a more reasonable guideline would be to give the award to the general manager who has done the best job of putting together the 2007 ballclub, rather than the general manager who has done the most in the past calendar year to put that team together.
  22. they have the two best records in the national league, so they're clearly not trying hard enough at sucking. Notice how I said "right now", meaning "recently" and not "all season long". obviously the two organizations were too stupid to not start losing consistently in august and july. it's just too hard to out-suck an opponent in september alone.
