  1. popped up middle of the diamond and laroche ran into lopez... bases loaded why wasn't that infield fly rule?
  2. what the [expletive]?!?!? edmonton is in canada and kid rock is terrible. why would they do this?
  3. welp that'll do it, go get 'em tomorrow
  4. lou piniella is a bad manager. hope that clears things up.
  5. raley didn't give up a run in the first two innings! hopefully he will give up fewer than 12 runs this time around. so far he has pitched 2 innings, giving up a walk and a hit while striking out 4. chirinos just hit his 6th home run of the year. we have two sorta-prospects at iowa (w. castillo and chris robinson) but considering that chirinos is beating up on the southern league and he's about 45 years old, it would probably be nice to move him to iowa at some point. BA had him in the cubs' top 30 so maybe he's a late bloomer whose bat can play at catcher.
  6. http://rationallythinkingoutloud.files.wordpress.com/2007/08/bagdad_bob_large.gif Our beloved Cobs take on the Diamondbacks, who - to put it mildly - tend to give us some problems. The starting pitcher matchup is Wells versus Lopez: http://cache-03.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/11/2009/06/Wells3.jpg vs http://chuionthis.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/ac-slater.jpg The Diamondbacks will probably trot out this starting lineup: 1. Tony Womack, 2B http://www.guilford.edu/assets/images/athletics/Womack.gif 2. Steve Finley, CF http://www.azsnakepit.com/images/admin/finley.jpg 3. 7. hacking at everything hasn't really been our problem.
  8. Because we will be so far out of it that nobody will care about the team? that was my thought as well. non-fred game threads will be about 2 pages long.
  9. what's the worst injury, miguel olivo's kidney stone, chan ho park's diarrhea, adrian beltre's balls or kaz matsui's anal fissures?
  10. the annoying part is that the first game we lost to the nationals, we hit 4 fly outs to the track; those would've been gone on a day like today. then yesterday we didn't hit any deep fly balls. the cubs are certainly creative in their ineptitude.
  11. i love the banner of lou and his big ol' gut sticking out
  12. can't believe laroche is hitting .270. usually this time of year he's hitting about half that.
  13. that's okay, once we get through aramis then we'll be into the heart of our order
  14. series odds: Detroit Red Wings +104 vs San Jose Sharks -115 Montreal Canadiens +361 vs Pittsburgh Penguins -420 Vancouver Canucks +122 vs Chicago Blackhawks -135 Philadelphia Flyers +135 vs Boston Bruins -149
  15. on a 34.6 LD%!!! his performance has been pretty absurd so far; he makes great line drive contact or misses. wtf anyway fangraphs wrote about him recently: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/austin-jackson-needs-to-adjust/
  16. i think you're underestimating the pens.
  17. so pretty much the same as every bruce levine article.
  18. yeah i think i'd have to take lou over dusty, baylor and brenly. not sure about kimm - not a lot of data there. my sense was that he was lousy but harmless. lou is fairly harmless too, though his lack of patience with young players who don't produce right away can be damaging.
  19. i'm having trouble thinking of many people i would like to see in the dugout LESS than lou. dusty baker is definitely one.
